My vote is for a small but awesome country , Belize. An English speaking country, you have the beach and jungle, the blue hole and not so touristy as Hawaii

In 2000 I flew from the mainland directly to the Kona airport on The Big Island. I had a cheap VRBO condo and rented a Jeep to explore. We made it all the way around the island in the week we were there. So many climatic zones! Beaches (some with black or green sand), lush rainforest, mountain peaks where it can snow, and a freaking active volcano!!! We went snorkeling, visited a coffee plantation, hiked trails, saw a 400’+ waterfall, and drove across the lava fields to secluded Makalawena beach. We hit the farmers market for groceries to cook with and the fish was so fresh! There are resorts if that’s your thing. There’s a brewpub that sometimes gets really good bands, and a WalMart if you forget something. It didn’t feel touristy, though that was a long time ago…

We got engaged while we were there. The marriage didn’t last but I’ll never forget that trip.

Edit: forgot to mention that I met up with an online acquaintance who lived there. We went out to dinner at Kona Brewing and he hooked me up with an eighth of local herb that was quite delightful.

Never heard havent taken it seriously yet thanks for the point one spot.
But u also get guns, and btc.

It has a bad reputation but that wasn’t my experience. I probably wouldn’t hang around San Salvador for too long and Santa Anna was a bit sketchy but a dollar goes very far and there are a lot of positives.

No i like guns and btc. I heard it’s Much safer there than here too now.

It’s off the beaten track and for sure worth considering. There’s a Salvadorean restaurant near me I go to sometimes for pupusa nostalgia.
