Vacation Spots

I can say with all honesty, it’s as beautiful as anywhere I’ve ever been. And the entire province has it. I was fortunate enough to have to work all over that province, for the most part. Got to see a lot of “picture postcard perfect” places, by the hundreds.

I like BC too but I’ve really only been to Vancouver.

Well, things have taken an interesting left turn here. I might be going somewhere where I get a butler. I shit you not, a butler.

@Foreigner, the wife and I spent a week in Cancun at the Paradisus. It is all inclusive resort, which we haven’t tried until this trip. The food and drinks were top notch. Our floor, as most, have concierge service. A lot of activities at the resort as well as things to see and do outside Paradisus. There is a lot of National guard present in the tourist zone, so it is very safe.

Cancun is on the list.

It’s a bit of a weird trip because there’s a lot of competing interests trying to accommodate family friends adults only people with kids.

All inclusive might just be the move because they some have adults only parts and kid friendly parts.

Go to rio de janeiro

There was a kid friendly side and an adults only side. The kids were really never a problem. We were part of a 16 person group.

The one thing about all inclusives that I don’t care for is that I don’t drink so it seems silly to pay for booze included. But as I said competing interests and it’s not a deal breaker it’s just a thing.

Did I miss when the Mrs B-Day is, or when your thinking?

If I could do it… Maui. I’m a bit of a dreamer and follow the luxury real estate listing for when I hit the lottery… so I always have a few places to pick.

How long of a trip?

Cabo… in October. Take in the birthday bash at the Cabo Wabo Cantina. I may just do that this year…

A trip on my bucket list is driving the Baja Peninsula stopping in a few spots for days/weeks. Camping on the beach, surf fishing, fish taco’s and Matgarita’s daily. Eventually arriving in Cabo.

One week in December just before Christmas is the thinking.

I think I need to remind myself that this isn’t the kind of vagabond pilgrimage that’s for me but a nice family vacation for everyone.

As I understand it Hawaii real estate is crazy.

I’ve been to both Antigua and St. Lucia. Both at All Inclusive resorts.

I would go back to either - but I really enjoyed St. Lucia more.

St. John in Antigua was a bit dumpy - Castries in St. Lucia was quaint…

Got weed at both spots too without issue

There is nothing good about Colon. The train ride from Balboa to Colon was great. Then it stopped in Colon.

Port towns are generally shitholes.

Agreed but there are no go zones anywhere you go.

Plus, if there was a town called Large Intestine, I would expect it to be a shithole.

I so resonate with this :upside_down_face:

Cuba may not be perfect, but the fact it has no McDonalds, Walmart, Starbucks etc says a lot for me. I’ve watched Costa Rica go from paradise to overpriced tropical version of the US, it’s getting completely ruined. There are still places you can go there, but there are also small picturesque fishing villages that now have condos. it really takes away from the experience IMO.

Reminds me of a yogi berra quote “nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded”

It sort of fits the bill even though he was talking about a nightclub

I totally agree about the destruction of the picturesque.

But long term vagabonding can be taxing too and there’s something to be said about comfortable. I went to a McDonald’s one time because I just wanted something familiar after a few weeks on the road.

I was in London one time, with a million things to do and one day I just wasn’t having it and went to see a movie instead. It was 7 psychopaths, I remember. Maybe I was just sick of walking too.
