Alright Alright ALRIGHT! ( - Wooderson from DaZeD and CoNfUsEd)
Almost 8 months in!! Lets start with… I lost FORTY SEVEN pounds since I started working there. I guess averaging 35k steps a day (some days its up and down on the staircases all day for like 500 flights of stairs essentially!) is quite a workout!! And I will attribute that loss to working in the cultivation department… Why? Because I spent a month doing light duty work in Vape (sticking labels on vape boxes, I averaged 2400 a day), and I gained 4 lbs during that time. (had to do light duty due to hernia surgery). SOOO… Cultivation is Fun AND Healthy too!!!
Lots of good changes there and some challenges as we head into summer. We eradicated all of our IPM issues (PM and root aphids), but now that summer is here we’re dealing with humidity and botrytis is peaking its ugly head out here and there… UGH… You have NO CLUE just how much humidity 1000 plants in a room creates, nor just how BIG and how MANY air handlers / dehumidifiers there are and we STILL struggle with keeping RH down in the warmer months (so much so, they lowered plant density in some rooms to help compensate).
When I started we were averaging in the low 60’s grams per sq ft. Lately we’ve been averaging high 80s and mid 90s, and even get over 100 g/sq ft in some rooms. (We set a few records last week with a harvest at 109 gsf and a record low in table bud at under 800 grams for about 450 plants in one of our oldest rooms with the worst environmentals!). Clearly our plant work / pruning / scrogging is having a positive effect… BUT with more weight comes more work as the defoliations need to be stepped up or there would be a ton of undeveloped bud hiding out under fan leaves and the potential for botrytis as theres less airflow and more buds now.
Interesting to note… Employee acquisition is incredibly hard!!! You would think we’d have a ton of applicants, but not so! Ok, so the pay isn’t amazing, its ok really, but the benefits are pretty good, you are Union, the work environment is fun, and you get to grow thousands of plants legally! Still have a hard time finding employees!!
Is it still fun? Hell Yes!!

I’ve aged out now, for anyone to hire me, but I’m ok with that.
