Well looks like I may have a problem - Identified mites

Moving around, can’t send pics from here the owner will not like it ^^

I’m back this evening (EU) with pics/macros of my crop and an efficient and easy/cheap napalm for them. I’m under attack since the warm peak, big one, and far more advanced in the infestation than you.

Ill post pics after work. The girls in soil are yellowing out on me. They started flowering faster than the dwc. Left them for 2 days after spraying with spinosad and when I opened the space I was like wtf.

When I chop them what can I do to get the mites off the buds so I’m not losing everything you them

Hey there, was hard to take decent shots. Pretty backed as fck ^^

Remember than i’m an advanced state, i’ve let these suckers invade the crop during i think ten days without blowback. Busy as fuck, and i was not worrying about the little and rare “white” patchs on males only (these suckers love fresh pollen, it’s like bodybuilders milk-proteins for them)… no matter your mileage, sometimes you invite the worries for a party like a faithfull idiot.

This male look fine (under treatment), but when you look closer :

Not the same story.

I’ve take a fresh clone in photo to show how it started :

So the napalm is pretty simple and will scarry a bunch of people i guess : nicotine.

I use 99% USP nicotine extract, it mean barely 1 grammer of nicotine per milliliter. The average prices for a decent quality are around 300€ per liter. It represent around 1000 liters of universal napalm ^^ Prepare only one “sprayer”, no stock, and keep the nicotine on the freezer (in a sealed box with lock key for safety, the whole in a thick zip bag).

I put 1 milliliter per Liter in a “manual spray tool”, eventually 1 milliliter of Magic Green (House and Garden) in bonus. That’s around 1mg per milliter and it’s enough for the war for near all cannabis pests (tested on gnats, thrips, red spiders and these uggly translucide things than are digging in trunk and stems … i forgot the name, it give fusarium disease)

You can replace the Magic Green by any good foliar product (choose those for clones if you can).

Spray first under the leafs, the trunk and the surface of the medium (soil, coco coir, anything). Then spray the whole plant. You don’t have to worry, it’s systemic (the whole plant will give nicotine with each bite during a limited time. From 24 hours to 48 hours maximum at peak activity, after the suckers are coming back (eggs not killed) in force take care. It’s not the spanlife of the nicotine in water etc … the plant just metabolize it so, the plant “eat it” and lower the rate in vegetal mass this way.

I use it also for gnats and it’s radical. And the plants love it, it give them a boost and release the tension on their defenses.

For gnats, just avoid the foliar compounds and spray it generously at the surface of the medium BEFORE each watering. It’s enough to eradicate them fast. I’ve tryed to directly include the nicotine in nutes, not worth the cost and it create weird reactions with kelp-based products and polarized K boosters.

They will come suffocate at the top of leafs and turn brown/dark. eggs will turn yellow / dark yellow but that’s the major part of the work : killing eggs. To boost the process, take double gloves (vinyl for chemicals or thick “washing plates” gloves) edit : Fck typed too fast.

Spray the gloves with your napalm, and rub gently the surface of the gloves on UNDER the leaves to get the maximum eggs you can in one gesture. Put your hands in a buck of water with a hint of chlorine, repeat. It’s a pain in the ass to do and you have to be very carefull for the plant, but when you have to save an unique motherplant … sometimes you have to live the hell lol

A fews hours later you will see this kind of mix (in advanced infestation like me ^^) :

These suckers will climb to a safe zone, in the pics you can see one dead and 4 alive (but hardly knocked allready). I spray twice a day for that. Morning/Evening (of the plants).

Now the disclaimer about the nicotine …

Why nicotine produce more fear than many dangerous chemicals busted in dispensaries :

  1. because the neonicotinoids, specially in USA. And it’s not the same thing. Pure nicotine is just an extraction like an CBD or THC extraction. Neonicotinoids are war machines with incredible lifespan and spectrum of action.

  2. because the cigarettes. Medias, propaganda, governments cynicism and hypocrisy, Ph, oncologists … they will mostly let think the mass than the nicotine is the responsible of deaths. It’s responsible for dependency only, the “goodness” killing people are not writed on the packaging of tabacco. They crush our balls to have everything listed in details for anything else but that … no. They are barely at the state to say than it’s better to stay on traffic twos hours than smoking a single cigarette ^^ Don’t dream, your AC filter don’t filter anything. They (car manufacturers) broke pollution close to nano particules to cheat pollutions tests, since ages. It have started with palladium (now replaced with russian nikel), and today the whole engine is breaking the combustion in the finest particules they can. A nano particule is like a 7.62 bullet in your chest, nothing can stop it and its damages.

Now the dark side :

  1. A 999mg/ml density is dangerous to store and dangerous to use. With years of practice (for my vape), it’s not a big deal but when you known nothing and when you’re not used to work with chemicals … ask yourself if you have enough constancy in your secure habits to deal with it.

1b) If you’re a careless stoner, buy (cheap) cigars. The tabacco is always better than industrial cigarettes (less funky additives and pesticides), and not specially more expensive for the weight/nicotine ratio. One cigar contain around the nicotine of 20 cigarette (one pack). A cigarette (regular) countain around 10mg of nicotine in average than you can use as napalm. So you need around 5 cigars to start. Take care, don’t used fake cigars with minced tabacco inside but those using only plain leafs. You don’t have to smoke them, go cheap. It’s uncommon in my country but i think than for an US citizen a chewing tabacco can make the deal more in ease maybe. But i don’t known enough these products to give an average rate or their level of purity.

The problem with this way is the lack of control on nicotine rate. It stay mobiles averages, the nicotine rate of each cigarette or cigar can’t be the same.

  1. The perimeter of a fews leafs will burn lightly and quickly, just like an overfert. It’s because this trick is systemic like neem oil, the plant will store nicotine and release it everywhere (roots, leafs, stems …). You have to find the sweet spot between burn/pest killed fast. Depend on strain also. I have a Grapestomper OG x Bubba Kush than is taking it full throttle like a charm, without burning. The Jack Herer is using the nicotine like a veg booster and auxin stimulator … don’t ask me why i don’t known.

  2. The dryed vegetal mass will contain traces of nicotine if you don’t manage it. So don’t spray it just before harvesting, let enough time for the plant to totally wipe it ^^ Well just like any commercial spray, heavy metals and others garbage in left.

  3. At canna lab spain, someone have proven to me than most of homegrown weeds are toxic by a bad management of the nutes. No joke at all. The problem is than it’s far more dangerous than traces of nicotine in your weed … without forgetting than in term of combustion (not compounds), a single cone is like around 15 cigarettes smoked at a time. Big catalyst of worries. So, yeah i think about that each time i read “flush or not flush”. In fact it’s a fake debate, the true debate is “overfert or not overfert. Which strain. And with what, and when.” Less sexy to troll for sure.

  4. Everyone, even the most uneducated, is able to be aware than using nicotine as pesticide is not without responsabilities. It’s obvious but : never in hydro, never outdoor.

  5. tested recently, you can protect seeds with it. By that i mean the seed production, not the seeds themselves. Off course don’t spray just before harvesting your seeds, logic.

If you feel bad about all of that, just don’t do it. If you feel fear : tons of documentation on the web and experiments (on apes, mices, dogs …), it will help you to be more in ease with the subject, outside the locked box of “nicotine is the worst murderer of the planet” “nicotine is monsanto round up” etc …

Go to check them today and i find plants that were fine yesterday to have leaves looking lily claws

Can i like this post more than once. Predators in flower.

Check out arbico.com. any predator for any pest you need

They dried out from what ever solution was sprayed on them.

If you can fight them off for the next few weeks you should be able to do a “bud wash” after harvest to correct the issue.

I’d no be putting anything on them other than water at this stage.

After harvest i would clean the room out completely and leave it for a few weeks. :v:

I never seen those but look like bites, i just wondering if any green hoppers have been around bro!?

Exactly like how i wanted to use the “Backwoods Tobacco” in water, i let it rest for a couple of days then strain it and keep it in the fridge, my girl hates the way that thing looks, luckily mason’s keep the odor inside the jar.

Here…

Any lifeform will decay with it. Or leave.

Sci :robot:

Im not going to bs you i skipped some posts. Does look like mites and pretty deep. But the other plants clean? Thats almost impossible.
Did you ever scope ?

99% chances you allready known it …

Don’t forget to press the tabacco very tight, the majority of the nicotine mass will be harvested by this specific juice. Back in the days i was using a “french press” to do it. Stupid name, the concept is italian.

Take care also about the oxydation, nicotine is a pretty “weak” compound (it’s why they have made neonicotinoids). Store in light proof container. When it’s oxydized, it’s smell like old piss and attack the nose. The assimilation by plants is greatly boosted but it lose a lot of power with fuckers.

Thats what I was going to do was spray the room, with what yet I don’t know lol I’ve just started seed and don’t want to kill them. Will neem oil kill these fucking things? Does method 1 actually work? Ordered neem oil and if it works was going to get the method 1pps and alternate the two a couple days apart for a week after these are done

Neem oil can be nice for prevention, and the lifespan / metabolization is barely the same than the nicotine (short/fast). But i don’t consider it as a napalm of the last hour. It’s like the milk/garlic for mildiew : it help for the consequences, but don’t really kill it directly like UV projectors. On a fews different scales, i’ve never reverted an infestation with it in being close to fry totally the plants with it (it’s a bit more hardcore than nicotine for the plants at “aggressive/urgency dose”).

It still a good helper, it make the mess in reproduction system and you can quickly see than the cycles are changing for longer ones and more dispatched infestation (specifically with spiders, they love gangbanging in webs). It’s a double blade, sometimes you just play “hide and seek” with puppies and nymphs, thinking everything is back on the track then when you release the tension you end with a larger active population than in the begin. Neem oil is to couple with predators imho, with a thinked planning.

I personally rather use neem based products (actually Soil Attack Aptus) to “hydrate” and store “ready to use” my coco coir bricks and neutralized soil (by micro waves). I don’t really consider it as a weapon, more as an effiscient repellent/barrier.

I have personally had zero luck with neem as either a preventive or killing a damn thing. It just stinks (literally)

i would try nicotine but in your first post you said never in hydro, half my plsnts are in dwc.

im killing the ones in dirt today. Think I know where the pests came from. was in need of soil to repot the girls in dirt and just grabbed a bag of garden soil from wally world as I really didnt care much about the ones in dirt. big mistake lol. once these are gone and the hydro girls finish in about 2 weeks or so what can I use on the room? are there any bug bombs that will kil these fucking things so I dont have to worry about them on the next run?

I got my gnats-invasion-wave (less a nightmare to control/eradicate than spiders) in forgetting to “microwave” a single 20 liters bag of soil bought in hurry for clones … one time is enough to fck up everything ^^

Considerations :

Nicotine in hydro : i don’t know the setup but the problematic is to evacuate a solution countaining nicotine in the “house-waste-circuit”. It’s highly relative :

  • a Drain To Waste is maybe the more risky, the drain will collect nicotine before it’s entirely gone.
  • a full loop doesn’t have any risk, you complete the solution with a fresh one… so to be frank, it’s relative.

But due to the margin of errors, the stoner’s factor etc … i prefer to say “no-no” and let careful growers take their responsibilities.

To clean the space i use :

  • simple water/high chlorine dose. cold water, never hot.
  • “hardcore sprays” than will make cry an hipster ^^ They are mostly with hints of DMT-like, neonicotinoids and all this kind of sweets lol

For the spray, i mostly take what i find around. No special reference it’s the same shit with different packaging generally. The trick is to take one sold as “universal” presenting “long term protection” (the duration is always a fake but the resilience of the product imply usefull compounds). And to verify than the product is effective for “fleas”, this last detail is very important for cannabis pests generally implying nymphs and different states. Specialized for fleas is useless, not “optionned” for fleas is not enough secure. You get the point.

Take care : I personnally can count on the strict Europe standards to barely buy this kind of product blindly, focusing on the spectrum of the product. I will never do that in USA, a few of Colorado growers learned me than you have to be a lot more involved in the choice of the products. This freedom is a good thing for responsible people mastering chemical manipulation, but when you’re not specially skilled at it … it can become dangerous. The advantage of USA on Europe is their respect of the customer in general, you can always get FDA and SDS documents very easy or even to phone to the company producing the product and have nice discussions on the use of their stuff. No one will insult you if you do that like here ^^

I’ve tryed to go overkill in past but it’s useless, even in a “productive” lab. The daily routine of complete cleaning during a few days is the main leverage. A single spray of a terrible product with a single cleaning will not help much, each time a little number of suckers will survive (but without plant to feed them) you have to kill them by daily waves. Ten days is my safe zone in general with everything, but i grow perpetual with plants touching each others. A paradise for in infestation.

Anyone ever try diazinon? Friend of mine runs a local farm and that’s what they use. Thinking of using this to s sterilize the space after i cut the remaining girls
