WHAB’s 1924 Brick Schoolhouse RDWC

I only just got back to the Schoolhouse about 2-1/2 hours ago…long day in the ‘City’. (I started this post when it was a little more than 1 hour ago! ROFLMAO)

Wow…I have ZERO complaints with the VA.

I understand some Veterans have problems with them.

Luckily, I do not.

In fact, I’m here to heap praise on them.

I accidentally swiped my right hearing aid off my desk, about the time I swiped that Amsterdam ashtray off my desk, a month or so ago?

I rolled my desk chair back to try to recover it and I found my hearing aid - in TWO pieces!

I took a good look at it and I could see which way the plug was oriented and plugged it back in. It worked great for about another 2 weeks. I went to remove the right one one night and that wire came loose again.

I plugged it in again and it was working again, but decided there had to be something about plugging them back in that I must have been missing, although I couldn’t think of what that could possibly be.

There was no ‘click in place’, there was no ‘snap in place’.

I decided then I needed to contact the VA about getting them fixed. At that point I was sure there must be some sort of special tool to install those wires to the body of the hearing aids. A tool I did not possess.

They got me an appointment very QUICKLY, within a couple of days!

They had to send that one side out for repairs as it seems I ‘may’ have damaged to ‘locking pin’. I didn’t know there was a locking pin until that moment. I know I didn’t see a locking pin. It must be a wee-locking pin!

As I was leaving that day, I asked them if I can have the tool used for that and I’ll save them the time and effort next time.

They did not agree! ROFLMAO

On that same day, they scheduled the Audiology test that I had today.

On my way to the appointment, out at the intersection (dirt/paved road) as I was driving out, a UPS driver asked IF I was the person that lived at this XXXXX address, she must have recognized my car. I wasn’t sure I heard her correctly (mono hearing aid at that point! ROFLMAO)…

She had the repaired hearing aid with her. I was so jazzed I stopped to try to set it up so I could have ‘stereo’ driving instructions - Google Maps.

I couldn’t get it working. I decided they must not ship with a charge in them.

I spent several minutes there in the intersection trying to get it working.

I was nearly late for my appointment.

Just as I was walking in the front door of the facility I heard them call my name over the PA and for me to report to Audiology.

Their clinic is about as far away from the front door as you can get and still be on that property! Not a joke - BUT…ROFLMAO.

It does ship with a charge but it has a special ‘shipping’ setting. She threw it on the charger for about 2 seconds and that unlocks it and it came to life.

So, they repaired my not very old hearing aids (3 maybe 4 years old) AND ordered me a new set of hearing aids.

These folks do not mess around.

They ordered me the Phonak Audeo Paradise 90 R-Life (a pair of).

I found the Phonak Audeo Paradise 90 and they’re somewhere around $4000.00 icon_e_surprised, One site had the price at $4598/pair.

I had no idea they sold them separately! ROFLMAO

I couldn’t find anything on the R-Life but that is exactly how the technician wrote it down.

And, they’ll be sending me home with the add-on Hearing Aid to TV adapter, cost unknown to me.

So, by the end of next month, I’ll have a new set of top dollar hearing aids AND the add-on TV adapter AND have a backup pair!

The VA been very, very good to me! No complaints!

All I had to do was volunteer to sacrifice my life for this country during a war and then become disabled!

winky

Then, to top off a pretty epic day already…

…this was waiting for me!

Lots of moving parts getting this all together in understandable form, for me! winky

Luckily this Bosch Router has enough spindle throw to accommodate such a LONG bit!

That was my last concern trying to get this all together.

As much as I really, really want to start on the BenchDogs MFT Quad Hinge System, I want to first make the rounds and make sure everything is all right, then get up in the Loft and finish up up there, insulation, then probably put some of that Poly Shield up, I don’t want to waste the Panda Film I have when I have a bunch of that Poly Shield remaining and anything I have growing up there won’t necessarily ‘need’ reflected light…then I’ll start on the Quad Hinge System! woohoo

I hope you’ve ALL made you day great, and IF not, you still have an opportunity to make it a great night! rockon

This escalated!

Saw this the other day…

…thought I’d change it out real quick!

The pouch this new screen came out of had 2 flat screens, conventional pipe screens…

I’m looking at them and wondering how a person could ever change that flat screen in that vape bowl.

That screen is VERY old and I thought, “Oh well, it’s old, it looks like it’s made to be changed, let’s do that!”

It wouldn’t be there otherwise?!?!

I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.

Poking the old one out…easy.

Getting the new flat screen in a Coke-Bottle shaped bowl, a Coke-Bottle shaped anything?

I got’r in there!!!

Going back in the Vape box, I knew I had to have a replacement bowl.

Just barely, in my old box. My SIL gave me a twin of my Arizer Vape, I’m not sure what is in that box as I’ve only opened once and saw a nearly brand new Arizer Vaporizer…and I closed the box…a year or more ago!

I found this in that old box BUT this is something I remembered buying much after I had bought. An upgrade.

A Screen-Less bowl and whip, glass-on-glass-on-glass-on-glass…

Changing the screen won’t be necessary with this setup.

But, I actually forgot I had them in there, in that old box. I know I bought them to replace what I had when replacing them was necessary - it hadn’t been - for years!

ROFLMAO

I’m still not entirely sure how they, Arizer, expected anyone to get that flat screen through a coke-bottle shaped anything successfully! It lays very flat in a bowl you’d buy like the screen was included in the manufacturing process :shrugged:

I’m done trying!

Okay, where was I?

ROFLMAO

Good morning!

Soak the old screen in some ISO (hi proof) overnight. It will clean up nicely.

Yes, sir. I am familiar with that process, thank you! However, I did not consider it in this instance.

That first hat shaped screen had a moderately significant hole through it. That’s what lead me to my box of tricks winky

Then seeing those flat screens had me wondering. A wonder I’ve had since I’ve owned the Arizer I bought…several years?..I think it was 2014.

I’ve never had a need for the flat screen but it’s been a long while see I first saw them and my wonder began.

I had to try to make sense of it. crazy

The damage you see in the image was the best method I had at hand. I don’t believe it could have been done better or more successfully.

Tits on a Bull! crazy

During this struggle session winky, I noticed when compared, the new bowl is moderately larger in diameter.

I still don’t see why they give multiple flat screens with every whip (I’m not sure I’m identifying that part correctly) (mouthpiece) screen purchase.

Now the bowl end of the glass-on-glass mouthpiece is also glass…

…I meant to post one of that end.

Then, you got me looking at the screen in the new bowl…

…even Arizer can’t install one correctly! ROFLMAO

I used the same process I used in my first attempt to correct the new bowl…

…and that’s the flattest I can get it. That’s with my pushing on nearly the entire diameter with equal pressure…only on the edges…as best a grab of the edges as I can get (within 30 or so feet! winky) .

I don’t get it ROFLMAO,

And yes, both of these components will be seeing Alcohol baths in their future winky.

In fact, somewhere, I have a Tupperware butter dish I use as the bathing vessel! A nice size, not as much waste, and the top can be sealed making it better disaster-proofed.

That Coke bottle-shape works nicely in the automotive and aviation fields, not so in this instance! nonofinger

winky

That’s one of my long-time and all-time favorite Coke-bottle shaped automobiles, btw. image winky

Thanks for the deep dive into this discussion, my friend! winky

It’s a good thing I dropped everything else and got a day and a half head start on this BenchDogs MFT Quad Hinge System installation!!!

ROFLMAO

I did clean the large amount of organic material out of the Bloom Room…I’m not an animal!!!

ROFLMAO

This was way more of a brain tease than I ever expected while getting all these moving parts moving in unison!!!

Wow!

Start…

Flipped it around as it was intended, with the radiused handles on the operators side.

I also flipped the top for the bottom. That ‘might’ counter the out of flat condition with this Bora Centipede and this floor.

You can see the gap between the top of the middle leg of the Centipede.

I had to shim it…

Just finding what set of hole I could use or add to or modify took literal hours and hours…

This is not an MFT in its conventional sense. MFT’s or MFT style workbenches don’t have those radiused hand-holds.

Trying to get the fixed pin side assembly close to the edge AND have enough material to hold it in place was very difficult, especially with this Festool-ish Multi-Function Slab

The below is what I settled on. I’m going to have to notch into those handles…that handle. The cross-hatched areas are approximate locations, the tools will determine final locations.

Made a final simulated run to make sure I thought of everything! (I was already thinking of dust extraction at this point…all of my hoods are very near me. I know exactly where they’re at! (ROFLMAO)

Then I thought, what IF? ROFLMAO

Above is me moving the Quad-Dogs (another independent and imo neat product line of BenchDogs.co.uk) one set of holes nearer to the holes to see where that lands things.

You can see a circled 1 and a circled 2. I had really settled on option 1. Option 2 is making more sense. There won’t be any concern about the amount of material remaining to hold those 2 quad-dogs.

Is there any real interest in seeing the in between pictorial here?

I took dozens of photos that I’ll include in any correspondence with Ralph regarding this installation - once he indicates an interest in having the information. It’s certain a unique and very different adaptation of his product, I’m sure.

Except for cleaning the grow space, I’ve done nothing other than this.

WOW!!!

I had to dig in. I couldn’t resist! I’m than close. I’m actually glad I did. These hours are hours I’d have to spend now or then. There was no getting around then.

I would have thought the Hinge side installation would have been more brain and time consuming. Boy was I wrong!

I danced with that boring jig (one time use tool) and the assemblies themselves all around the Festool-ish Slab in every conceivable way for hours and hours and hours just to find the best place for that Locating Pin to be and not have the new Kerf (cut line) land on an old Kerf from previous setups!

Almost finished! urlatetimeout ROFLMAO

Except for some more minor scorching of the leaves literally touching the bulb, everything is looking amazing!

That clamp I used is still in place, surprisingly!

I apply the Horizontal LST and the next time I look at them there’s more getting nearer to or touching the bulb…a ‘small’ mesh cage is in my future.

I just haven’t been able to stay ahead of that growth.

I had to go to ‘town’ today.

When I sat down in my car I realized I was sitting on something. I thought I must have accidentally dropped something in my seat when I got out of it the other day. I do not store things in the drivers seat.

I reached back and pulled out the arm to my Aukey Phone Mount…

That lever component on the right is the clamp assembly that forms the suction on the weighted base.

I rely on the phone mount every time I drive my car.

It looks to have exploded…a catastrophic failure. Pieces and parts was scattered though the vehicle.

While I was driving I had to make a hard left and I saw what looked like 2 or 3 small bubbles floating across the inside of my windshield.

It was the spring (not pictured, it’s still in the car) that was inside the mount assembly rolling across the dash and it looked all the world like bubbles. ROFLMAO

While trying to process what I was seeing - while controlling the vehicle through the turn - it made absolutely no sense bubbles would be floating across the inside of my windshield. confused2 ROFLMAO

After I completed the turn I turned an eye to it after it had come to rest at the far right side of the dash and I could clearly see what it was.

I really, really like hearing the map directions through my hearing aids…another excellent feature of these Phonak hearing aids. I also like looking ahead on roads I’m not familiar with…I give it a quick glance every now and then and can anticipate changes in the route.

It looks like it is covered under a 2 year warranty. I purchased it Aug. 2020.

I have contacted Aukey and I’m hoping they will honor their warranty and it won’t be a fight.

:crossed_fingers:

Since I mentioned Phonak. I discovered what the “Life” part of the new system that I’m getting is.

“Life” equates to “Waterproofed to 1.64 feet”…

…I suppose that might be helpful for some people in a very narrow set of circumstances. But Waterproofed to a whopping 1.64 feet - less than 2 feet??? ROFLMAO

I don’t expect to be in water with my hearing aids in BUT IF I was in water with my hearing aids in it won’t be in a Kiddy Pool! ROFLMAO

This Phonak system I am getting has undergone some major improvement besides their ability to allow a user to dunk their head in less than 2 feet of water - come on, man! ROFLMAO

The Phonak I’m getting now incorporates Bluetooth connectivity internally within the hearing aids themselves which is a major upgrade.

On the system I have now, it requires a Bluetooth interface between my phone and the hearing aids that’s clamped on to whatever you’re wearing, a collar, say … or a chain around your neck or something like that.

The range is incredibly short, though. It loses contact at about a foot or so away from the hearing aids.

An almost embarrassing range! ROFLMAO

I did a quick read of some of the new set’s features. Besides above, it uses induction charging and the carry case is a charger that can provide the system with 3 full charges before it needs to be recharged.

Oh, my leg had been causing me increasing problems…swelling and pain.

I told myself last night that IF it didn’t start improving and continued getting worse I was going to contact my clinic and have them make an appointment for me to be seen and IF it got worse than how it felt last night and I couldn’t get a quick appointment I would consider going to ER.

It’s been a real problem for me.

AND, you’ll notice I have only minimally did any whining about it! ROFLMAO

It is feeling marginally better - FINALLY! tup

I have a great capacity to absorb or push pain away - this was reaching the point of a call to action, it’s been that bad.

I’m going to get back to installing that MFT Quad Hinge System…

…first, Tea! winky

I hope you’re all doing your best to make it a great night! rockon

Well, that didn’t take an inordinate amount of time! urlate cantlook ROFLMAO

4-1/2 inches of depth…the TS75 has great depth capacity but I think it is only 3-1/8 inches.

It still need a little massaging. I didn’t take into account the L-angle the vertical bolts go through when I cut the notch…need to re-route about another 1/8 inch or so to clear it. You can see the edge of that L-angle peeking out in that 4th image.

When I did my research on the BenchDogs.co.uk MFT Quad Hinge System there were some mentions that the black plates could be recessed. Recessed IF you’re cutting really thin material…like veneer. I may or may not do that. I’m not anticipating making cuts that thin.

Where it is right now I can get a 31 inch wide cut, depending on where I mount the BenchDogs Fence…not that I’d ever need to make a cut that wide. Those cuts are rare but, if needed that capacity is there! woohoo

This solves BenchDogs only shortcoming regarding the their Guide Rail system.

Tightening the Guide Rail Dogs requires turning the tail end of the Guide Rail Dog under the bench that then tightens the T-bolt that is in the Guide Rail that aligns it and holds it all rigidly together. Then for different thickness cuts you had to go under the bench, loosen the Guide Rail Dogs, adjust their height on both sides of the bench and re-tighten them all under the bench.

IF you’ve notice rubber faced work gloves in previous images … in this instance, they were exclusively used to get as best a grip on the very end of the very slippery Aluminum Guide Rail Dogs.

A right PAIN, literally and figuratively! unhappytdn

When I first started using the rubber faced gloves I mentioned to Ralph that it might be a good business move to supply rubber faced gloves with each purchase of his Guide Rail Dogs. IF purchase in bulk I don’t think it would have cost him more than a few cents each.

He was very receptive to the idea. Instead of my previous employers logo on them they could have BenchDogs logo on them.

I don’t know IF he ever incorporated that idea or just kept working on the vastly improved MFT Quad Hinge System in the background away from my prying eyes winky …he likely keep working on what I’ve bought and installed here.

Then, I still have to re-install the BenchDogs Fence…and calibrate it to its new location in relation to the new Kerf.

Okay, where were we?!?!

ROFLMAO

Good morning!

I hope you all make today, Thursday a GREAT one! rockon

Garden II Flower Day 24

Res. Temps…69F

pH (was 5.5 before I took the picture out of the nutrients)…

E.C. bouncing 2.6.

The Girls…

When I get done here I need to restrain the Girls on the Zipper Door side of things. I’m going to have add another and higher wire to attach more Yoyo’s to. When I first installed the wire around the room I thought there might be a need for a string of Yoyo’s higher than what I had just installed. It is now needed.

When I get done with that I need to top off the Reservoir. It’s about 20 gallons down since my last top-off.

I’m wrestling with the idea of either Flushing the Res…just give the Girls straight pH’d water, or a full drain and refill, or just top it off for now.

And, I still haven’t forgotten to pull the Runt to see its roots.

The Electrician will be here in the EARLY AM (why!?!?!?!? ROFLMAO)

He’s coming to finish the light switch in the attic and to add to the quad outlet he installed on the North wall of the Under-Loft.

Moving the Runt out will allow him easier access to that spot on that wall and give us an opportunity to see her roots. She’s also the plant with the least amount of Yoyo’s. Not because she didn’t need any, but a case where stringing horizontal Yoyo’s would be more difficult because of everything else on that wall.

When I added the Chiller to the mix it left me short 1 outlet on that wall. I am using a splitter in there now. They’re all low amperage so I don’t see a problem with that.

And, remember my Aukey post?

I was hoping to not have to fight them for them to honor their warranty.

It’s a tad bit worse than that.

Our email exchanges…

Hello,

I got into my car a couple hours ago and after I sat down I realized I was sitting on something, reaching behind me I pulled the arm of your HD-C49 car phone mount I was sitting on out from the seat. I then realized it was in several pieces, parts laying about in my car.

I really need this phone mount.

I would like it replaced, please. It is well within your 2 year warranty period.

The Amazon order number is: XXXXXXXX.

Here is the order details (Receipt)…

[receipt removed]

I do hope this is resolved as quickly as possible, please.

Thank you for your time and consideration regarding this important matter.

Xxxxxxxxxx (WHAB winky)

Their response:

Dear Customer,

I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Man-made damage is not covered by the warranty.

We need to explain one thing, because our system has a problem, we cannot resend any products and apply for a refund.

I hope you can contact Amazon to give you a refund.

Regards.

Me:

Greetings,

The damage isn’t “man-made”. I didn’t break it. I entered my car and sat down in the drivers seat, the arm of your phone mount was already in the drivers seat…I didn’t put it there. I sat down and realized I was sitting on something…the separated arm with the remaining pieces still on the dashboard.

Your product had a catastrophic failure all by itself.

I need a phone mount. I use a phone mount every time I drive my car.

The unassisted and spontaneous catastrophic failure of your product within the 2 year warranty period requires you to replace the product.

Please replace your defective product.

Are you saying you’re no longer manufacturing phone mounts?

Regards,
(WHAB)

Them:

Dear Customer,

Yes, we no longer sell this product.

Because our store is locked by Amazon, we cannot apply for a refund. Many customers have encountered such problems and contacted Amazon for refunds. We are also unable to reissue new products.

Hope you can contact Amazon to refund you. At the same time, you do not need to return the product.

Regards.

Me:

Hello,

Ah…thank you!

I now have a better understanding than the previous response.

Thank you!

All the very best!

Regards,
(WHAB)

I did not appreciated them trying to blame me for their catastrophically failed product.

I don’t take kindly to it, AND…it was a lie…they could have just told me the truth instead of lying.

They’re out of business, so not so much of a bitchslap ROFLMAO

So, I went with plan B, a plan I devised IF it couldn’t be replaced. Drilled a hole through it and bolted it.

That’s not going anywhere. It might break again but, it won’t break there again! winky

The part that broke was a pivot pin/suction lever. They advertised it as being able to swing around 360 degrees.

I don’t need it to swing 360 degrees.

I had no inclination to motorize it as a supplemental fan to assist in A/C circulation! ROFLMAO

I need it to hold my phone in front of my A/C ducts in my dashboard…my phone has overheated in the Summer when the mount was sitting fully atop the dashboard.

Problem solved!

A little bit of work, then a volcano, then bed.

Except for adding on to the outlets on the circuit that he installed on the North wall in the Under-Loft, all of the electrical is done here…regards growing.

Still might come up with minor tweaks, maybe.

I’m going to have him back at some point to upgrade the electrical in the ‘garage’.

Here’s the damages…

Very fair fellow!

Itemized cash outlays AND after all we’ve been going through (COVID, the Economy AND Gas increases…etc…etc.), he’s still charging me what we first agreed to more than a year ago now…maybe 2 years(?).

Regards that billing above; you see where amounts are struck out on his receipts?

That’s where he goes to a building supply store (in the ‘City’), pays for items out of pocket that he thinks we’ll need, then when those materials aren’t used he brings them back to the store (in the 'City) for credit, and then he deducts that amount from the bill.

He does all of that on his own, no extra charges.

I’ve actually run into him in one of those stores in the ‘City’ once where he ‘may’ have been paying for items to use on my work smokeit2

I just noticed, the E.C. has biased blinking. I was going to say that it’s bouncing 2.6…but it’s blinking once on the 2.4 side and twice on the 2.8 side. I never saw anything in the instructions like that but that’s what it looks like.

pH did not go down, it stayed the same…

…however it only recirculated the Res…it has not gone out to the buckets and back…that should knock it down a point or two, I would think. But I was wrong with my previous expectation winky

E.C. equal blinking 2.6…(I’ve done a quick search on the meaning of the blinking lights on the Bluelab TRUNCOMV2 E.C. Truncheon, the biased indication…I can’t find anything on it.)

I tried trimming the scorched leaves and it’s pretty tough to do in this situation.

During Lights Out I’m going to try set up a relocation hook so I can move the bulb and get in the middle of things so when the light does come on I can use it’s light and occupy its space…I should be able to get to what needs to be trimmed without beating the Girls up any more than I have to.

I was a little surprised how roomy it was when I was in the middle trimming out the undergrowth. I think I can stand up in there with similar ease - I’ll find out.

“Small mesh cage” is on the To-Do list, for sure…no question about it!

I’m going to stay up long enough for next feeding, 2am - returns by 2:23am, to return to the Reservoir, test it, then bed!

Good morning!

I’ve been thinking for a while that I ‘might’ have fractured my Tibia. Not a through break but cracked it.

Maybe Monkeypox? ROFLMAO

With the extended period of swelling and pain it’s the only conclusion I can reach…especially with it feeling better than reverting to not feeling better … a reversal.

This picture doesn’t show the lump very well but it’s there…

…it’s the only reason I’d have to take a picture and attempt to explain what I’ve been going through after dropping that short partially built wall. It was only a few studs screwed together.

The scab is where it hit. The lump (break/crack) is just below and just right of the scab…about the middle (from top to bottom) of my leg in this picture…the approximate center of that red spot.

Note that the red and the bump is not where my shin took the hit.

This should not have been doing as bad as it has been after knocking a shin.

I used a rolled up sleeping bag (not really a sleeping bag but looks like one) to prop my lower leg up while I tried to rest this early, early morning.

I think it helped as my lower leg is feeling much better and it ‘looks like’ some of the swelling is down…but I really hate ‘sleeping’ on my back.

It’s still really sore but better than it was yesterday.

I wanted to get up in the Loft and especially the Attic yesterday but the risk of banging that side of my leg/foot dissuaded me. Even a minor bang is especially painful.

Something is wrong and it’s more then just a bang on a shin.

I’m going to try and put off a medical visit until Monday and try to have my VA Clinic X-ray it.

Here’s the pH and E.C. after cycling through the feedings several times since my last check.

pH did come down 2 ticks from my last check…

E. C. is 2.7…(bouncing 2.7 with biased 2.8 double blinking)…

I was able to find one video that talked about the biased flashing…it is what I thought it was…a reading leaning towards the double blinking light whether below or above the lights its centered on.

I am going to find a hook for the temporary light relocation (I’ve looked around the Classroom and I don’t see any. I’m fairly certain there are some in the Loft (so, I’ll have to go up there and hope I don’t knock my lower leg on anything! ROFLMAO), a maintenance location so I can get in the middle of the Girls to trim the scorched bits of them. Trying to do it from the periphery means reaching in and around the plant in a way I didn’t like. I don’t want to damage them beyond the scorching I have already caused.

Then I’m going to find a way to put my leg up and rest it the rest of today, at least.

Somethings not right with it! Needs a timeout, reluctantly!

Make it a great night, folks! rockon

Hooks were in the Loft.

So was a massacre! frown ROFLMAO

Everything is dead up there.

I unplugged everything, A/C, Fan, and pump in Cloning Machine II.

Better luck next time! tup

Here’s the Maintenance Lamp Locator…

When in position, the lamp hangs from a 2x4 that you can see on end…

Relocated, to the right…

Notice, they’re reaching for the Sky tup woohoo

I will find a better Maintenance Lamp Locator in the future for the future when the space is less full smoke woohoo.

The space is 72 inches tall, I just measured it (again - should probably should write that down somewhere! ROFLMAO). The buckets are 16 inches tall. The rest is Girl! winky

Another volcano, then :foot:-rest timeout winky

Make it a great night! rockon
