ROFLMAO

I was wrong! It wasn’t in the shed. It was right where I put it not 6 feet away from where I am sitting! ROFLMAO

More permanent but still temporary… hung on bungees, directed out the open eaves.

I didn’t make it outside as I mentioned. Rained like heck here for at bit! They forecasted hail but that never came. So I stayed indoors - in the backbreaking bath! winky I also didn’t get the bucket drilled out last night. I did it earlier today. I did get the Geolite Clay Pebbles rinsed out… I had to resort to the colander anyway, for the dregs…

And then, I said I would switch to 18/6 today…I have put that off for at least one more day.

The remaining clones have sprouted roots. Even the one I am sure is dead. It’s dead on top. BUT, IF they’re willing to try then I’m willing to let them. *some of the pictures are blurry. apologies. know that there is some root showing somewhere on the clone and in the picture! winky *

This last image is the dead one. It ain’t giving up…

With their home prepared, I will transplant them tonight. And like the TDC in the nearest pictures, the one I know I ripped out some of its healthiest roots by accident, I’ll put them in the buckets at a lower level - with less clay pebbles than the others - to ensure their roots will get some nutrients and when they catch up I’ll top the buckets off with more clay pebbles.

rockon little ones!

The res is sitting at 5.7 pH. tup

Good morning!

Make it a great day! tup

It’s not much, and it ‘may be’ a waste of time in the end but, I did what I could do. My back is just killing me.

I put the clones that are hanging on - going to have to rebuild the cloning machine better and more reliable - in the buckets I prepared for them the other day. They’ll survive or they won’t. I’m giving them a chance after having been abused. Btw, I was sure I got the focus better - I didn’t ROFLMAO

This is the one that is just jamb-packed with nubs like it really wants to burst out with roots but just isn’t

This is the one I’m still sure is dead, but that one root is growing. I’ll give her a go. I’ll give them all a go.

Then I turned the light off (which I lowered the other day) to close some light leaks (mostly staple holes), to put the new buckets in place (paired with their like outer buckets) and put it on the timer. I already see that I want to widen the space by at least 2 feet.

They’re going to 18/6 later today. They’ll be lights on from 6pm to 12pm the following day. Lights off from 12pm to 6pm.

That means I have until 12pm to get the “door” in.

I have the adhesive backed zipper. I hope my back plays along…

The Mega Crop 2 Part A and Part B and Bud Explosion are due in March 16th according to the shipper. The Vittles Vaults are ready to receive them!

The one bucket nearest the camera is the one I pulled the roots out of when I didn’t notice that some of the roots were within the cloning puck. The inner bucket was floating last night. I didn’t see the other inner buckets floating, just that one. I don’t know why but I may have to weight it down. I left the clay pebble level lower in that bucket to ensure the roots saw nutrients but if the inner bucket is lifting up then that defeats my efforts.

Good morning!

Make it a great day! tup

Even though I had a conversation with someone just the other day about this very thing, I completely forgot about it when I put the light on the timer and posted the previous message…

I can’t go 18/6 without having a way to extract the heat put off by that light when the space is closed up. I have to have that done before making the switch.

I don’t have the 6 inch inline fan I’d like to use. I still haven’t run across it. It looks like I’ll have to purchase another one down the road. In the interim I’ll install a 6 inch booster fan I do have here. I’ll install it in a way that I can easily swap it out with the inline fan I know I have somewhere or with the one I’ll have to buy.

So I have to take the light off the timer until I can get that done.

I only hope my back doesn’t complain too much crazy ROFLMAO.

I thought I was going to open a can of WhoopAss on this attic ladder and it would make almost everything moving forward a lot easier. tup

Instead, I opened a can of worms on myself! ROFLMAO

Need a rough opening of 22-1/2 inches x 74 inches (accounts for swing of ladder). I decided to install the attic ladder now because I know it has to be done (great timing since the cloning machine is down - in dry-dock! winky biggrin ), I wouldn’t have to move that temporary Air Conditioning exhaust ducting. And it would allow me to get up there easier to at least properly direct that exhaust ducting out the open eaves (I still think that round-to-square (rectangular) transition duct will fit in there) and also allow me to exhaust that grow space once I close it in and install that adhesive-backed zipper.

I picked this bay and then realized (after cutting into the Luan ceiling panels), oh…that bay has a sistered joist reducing that bay dimension by 1-1/2 inch.

Then in that same bay, on the North edge, there is a diagonal support attached to that joist and up to the rafter, further narrowing that dimension.

I used a straight edge where I could BUT it was all above me - not by much, but it was above my shoulders. The height of that space is around 60 inches. I had to keep moving the straight edge back farther and farther on the South edge of that bay just trying to find the edge. Wow! That was rough!

Now, I noticed that end of the sistered joist only had one nail in it on this end of the board as far down the board as I can easily see.

So, do I cut this sistered joist back about 18 inches in its length to reopen that bay? As I said there is only one nail in it as far as I can see. Or do I install that 12 foot floor joist I have from the loft handrail on the other side of that bottom truss chord and sister it on the other side removing the one that is in my way giving me back the 22-1/2 inch bay? Or, do I move it all South to the next bay that is 22-1/2 inches?

I’m leaning toward the latter. There is some Luan in the shed. Large pieces, from memory…maybe even a full sheet. This will also give me a chance to test out some trim on the ceiling panels. They used base trim, for some reason. And I want to see what doubling the trim to make it look more like a Lattice ceiling, evenly spaced and not the mess it is now! tup

BUT, MAN, did I trash the space outside the Rooting space. Just thrashed it.

Oh, right in the middle of this the light went out. I thought, "oh, crap…the ballast just died and I don’t have a replacement! facepalm"

It didn’t die. I traced the cord and saw that I had unplugged it. Whew! tup

And, on a positive note: I put a little weight on the top bucket of the one that was floating negatively effecting my plan to lower the clay pebbles to allow the roots (such as they are) to see some nutes in the feeding cycle. It worked. I put a speed-square on the edge and the bucket stayed in place! tup

I am seeing healthy new growth in the first 6 clones I put in there at 7am on March 10th, so 4 days ago.

IF I can get lights out sometime soon I’ll snap some shots of them. I mean even IF I accidentally unplug it again! ROFLMAO

I have not had a rest period since I got up yesterday morning in horrible back pain frown crazy ROFLMAO

Good morning!

Make it a great day! tup

P.S. where I bed down is right under the rooting side of the loft, right under it ROFLMAO I did pull the covers up and I’ll have to give it a proper cleaning before I could even lay down on it! That’s IF I ever lay down again!?!? facepalm ROFLMAO

I’m stopping for tea! My first caffeine since the last time I got out of bed I don’t remember when! crazy biglaugh

I’ve assessed a few things regarding the attic ladder and the flower space up there.

Our earlier discussions on MPG regarding re-engineering the trusses/ceiling joist and their supports will need to be rejiggered! winky

The joists (lower chord) I just looked at, just the first 1 or 2, are pieced together…2 primary lower chords (joists) and 1 splice to tie them together. They’re not sistered together (reinforced for extra strength or beefed up out of concern), they are constructed that way…a spliced lower chord confused .

Where I had to cut the one back (with 2 hand saws I’ve had forever and this is the first time I’ve used them, and not just one of them but TWO of them. That was a right PIA! I decided on this option because it’s the best spot to land the ladder legs and still have rooting/cloning going on. I installed (6) 3-1/2 inch screws. I got 4 seated very well and 2 I’m going to have to get back on now that I have a better angle to apply force to them. When I can get up there to address that matter I will clamp them up tight and use GRK Structural Fasteners throughout their lengths. It only had ONE nail that I could see. I could see about another 2 feet beyond where I put the screws and I don’t see another fastener confused2 facepalm frown

That space above where I removed that section of the splice looks like a great environment for one or all types of wood eating things! crazy

The first and probably temporary Red Oak diagonal support. I only needed 96 inches. I have to move the West side diagonal support. I used a Swanson Framing Wizard® Folding Aluminum Framing Square to find the angle.

It has a few very handy features! This is the only angle finder I could find that could find the angle on the Modified Ship’s Ladder where the stringer falls on the landing…find the angle and lock the angle in. Gonna fit it up there and trim as necessary. This one is going to land on top of the lower chord (joist) as was discussed. Then I’m going to install a horizontal cross-support to keep the rafters from spreading. I’ve decided on a 7 foot ceiling up there, this will not be it. I’m just supporting things while I rework that one support then the horizontal support.

And, the center support (118 inch) is getting replaced because I know it is rotten. I have mentioned that that support was rotted. It must be replaced now!

I’m not sure I can reach the peak to screw it in from the loaner step stool. Gonna try. If not this morning then I’ll try and get it done later on today.

Not sure how things will gusset up. I’m still leaning on that method to re-engineer things up there. Just gonna have to take a bit more Thought Process Machine engagement! winky Engineering on the fly! tup

A round-to-square transition duct will certainly work up there to direct the A/C exhaust out the open eaves. This one won’t fit because it is not the right diameter. The hose is 6 inches and it looks like that transition duct is 7 inches (seems an odd diameter. I was expecting 6 or 8 inch).

And lastly, I see where I need to route the extraction fan for the Veg space. Except for that transition duct that I have just because winky . I have 5 inch dust collection ducting (3) 10 foot sections (I think they’re 10 foot). I’ll likely run that duct out the East side, within the bay, and I know there is hardly any fascia board existing out that end. I’d also like to use a transition duct there too.

I am still going to try and get the attic ladder installed before I lay my head down tup It won’t be on my to-do list any longer and I can move on to finalizing the exhaust ducting for the Veg space and put in on the timer! tup

P.S. I just had a very strange and painful action in my right knee. I felt it earlier but not this bad. I’m wondering if I injured my knee frown

BUT, that’s AFTER I remove a BUNCH of debris on my bed! ROFLMAO

Good morning!

Hello @Floyd !

Yeah, plenty of things to keep me busy around here biggrin

I thought for sure it was a strain related injury, that’s what it felt like. I babied it the rest of the evening/morning and it didn’t occur again, luckily!

I haven’t done anything today…not sure that I will, even though I really should. I feel my pillow is calling my name! biglaugh

I hope you’re having a wonderful evening! tup

Hello @G-paS wavy

That would be handy! I could borrow both of those now, they are available to me…I just really don’t like to borrowing things.

My Dad taught me that IF you have to borrow something more than once then you need to buy one winky I do appreciate the offer! tup

I hope you’re having a wonderful evening, as well!

I can think of a few friends of mine who probably have not ever heard that saying.

More like I have a few friends that think that saying means they need to keep what they borrowed of mine so they have there own!

At one time if I ever looked for something more than twice - and didn’t see the point in looking further - and couldn’t find it I’d call my nephew to ask if he had it. More times than not, he did ROFLMAO

I received the Mega Crop Parts A&B and Bud Explosion nutrients last night.

I would have thought that containing these products within their packaging before use would be the norm.

Do I have that wrong?

crazy ROFLMAO

When I first opened the box I saw some white pellets, I legitimately thought that maybe it was desiccant as I was informed this stuff is hydrophilic (a term I was unfamiliar with).

As I unpacked the box further it was obvious what I was seeing was not desiccant but rather the product itself, Mega Crop Part B spilled out.

The box appears undamaged - not torn or pierced … etc. The box does look rather beat up, though. In light of that fact I suspect the bag succumbed to excessive compression, the box compressed into a space smaller than the full bags themselves - like squeezing a bag of potato chips. I’m not saying it happened in our mailbox, it most likely didn’t. But, it was forced into our mailbox and was difficult to remove it.

I was tracking its movement through the system and I saw that USPS was handling it - I thought that was weird. Then when it was delivered the tracking said it was delivered to our mailbox and not delivered to the porch - I thought that was weird. Then I pried it out of our mailbox and open it up and saw desiccant - I thought that was weird!

Weird! ROFLMAO

I would have a talk with the post master. That size box should have been left on the porch. I hate when UPS hands off to USPS. I don’t have issues with small items. I had one stuff in the box and had trouble getting it out.

According to the tracking it never went through UPS. From the time I saw it tracked with USPS I was thinking ‘how it the heck are they going to shove almost 19lbs into the mailbox. Surely they’ll deliver it to the porch’. No such luck. Just weird!

I had an exchange with Greenleaf Nutrients about the mail problem.

The first exchange was them asking me for a picture of what I described to them in my original message to them. I supplied the picture to them.

This is how they responded…

ok, yes you can just scoop it up and put it all back in the bag, its still all good to use. Also, we can issue you a partial refund for the trouble of the bag opening like that. thanks for reporting!

My response to them minutes ago…

Hello, I can “just scoop it up and put it all back in the bag”? Through the torn side of the bag? The ripped side of the bag? You are instructing me to put the spilled contents back in the bag through the torn side of the bag?
You know, had you instructed otherwise I would not be requesting a “partial refund”. To instruct a recipient to put the spilled contents through a rip in the side of the bag is utterly ridiculous!
Had you instructed me to find my best airtight container to put the spilled contents in to I would not be requesting a partial refund. I understand things get damaged in the mail. I do not understand where that ridiculous instruction comes from. Wow!
Yes, provide me with a “partial refund”, please.
Let it be known [removed this text as it pertains to a future response they ‘may’ not issue]! Wow!
I would suggest Greenleaf Nutrients assign responding to trouble tickets to someone at bit more responsible! Wholly Geebus!
