WHAB’s 1924 Brick Schoolhouse RDWC

I think I saw the movie but I’m not entirely sure.

I’ll have to review a bit of it to see if it looks familiar.

There are a few of his works that I do like.

And, yeah…any and all things are triggers.

We’ve become so soft!

Okay, we’re live.

I took several hours mocking up and modeling to get this right and I still got it wrong! ROFLMAO

I was really trying to incorporate a few of the original pieces here…

2 of the ends of the antique door I cut off, I like the profile of the joint being visible. I failed at that too!!! ROFLMAO

Also a slat I’m pretty sure came out of the ceiling when I installed the attic ladder.

Just going to post what was completed in an attempt to save time. I’ll show the lead-up when I go to repair this one! ROFLMAO

I have to get up in a few hours.

It was a tricky build in that I only had the wall on the left, that is stud built, to attach the fan mount to and the 2 ceiling joists.

It had to be in the corner to use its full sweep, that’s not studed wall on the right side of the images. And I had to make a complex cuts on both ends on the horizontal piece going into the corner.

And, you’ll see above that I had to add some “new” wood because I somehow made both sides too long…DOH! ROFLMAO

BUT, the Girls are LIVE. First day of Veg! woohoo

I unplugged the LED here…

The first fire!

And, from the zipper door…

I still have to better arrange the buckets. May have to move the HID mount on the ceiling. It might be off by about 6 inches from where it needs to be, maybe. And adjust the height of the bulb.

But, here we go!

Good morning!

Make it a great day! tup

The numbers as of the 10pm feeding last night.

Since I started using these 3 devices, I’ve noticed that the Acurite and the Inkbird are more often closer to each other than to the AC Infinity.

I did find a Humidity calibration test, but those involved the mini-hygrometers and a airtight container. Neither apply here.

Res. Temps, as of 10pm feeding…

E.C. .8…

I don’t prefer these images, under Metal Halide. I’ll start planning to take pictures on one side of Lights Out or the other.

I have the Girls’ Jewelry at the ready! winky

Spalding is so cool! I love fungus! There’s actually a nursery? Out here that purposely infects their trees with fungus to create spaulted wood. It’s pretty cool that it’s controllable.

Man @WhiteHotAfterburner , I’m jealous of your shop. Mine is still in the parlor of my house. Haha. Hoping to build a shop this year. Thinking I’ll make it from all the cedars were taking down here. Ever seen a cord wood structure? It’s gonna be fun!

Your grow space is coming along well!

Hey there my friend!

You have a parlor!?!?

winky

I’d be keen to watch your build IF you were keen to post it!

Cedar is a great choice!

I have seen at least one cord wood structure. Kris Harbour Natural Building on YouTube built the one he is currently living in.

He’s doing a bunch of other great work. He’s a quite capable and creative individual! One of my favorite channels!

I am pretty sure I heard him say IF given the same situation he would not build another cord wood structure. I think his issue was with the labor involved.

Thank you, brother @Rhino_buddy tup

My house is 113 years old. Hell yeah I have a parlor.

The granddaughter of a lady that was born and died in our house stopped by a few days ago. She couldn’t stay long but I can’t wait to talk to her more. She said the pump we thought was a cistern in our front yard is actually a well, and she was reminiscing about drinking water from a bucket and ladel at the well, and how her Grandma didn’t have a toilet inside til 1984. She pointed in the direction of where the outhouse was.

I love learning about the history of this place. In fact about a month before, the granddaughter of the guy that built the house stopped by. It’s an interesting world. I love that they felt open enough to pull down my long drive and talk.

Off to hide from potential tornadoes. Hope you’re safe in your neck of the woods.

That’s AWESOME, @Rhino_buddy!

That sounds like an amazing place to plant ones flag!

Updates on what you discover would be a welcome sight!

Your Cistern/Well situation would be of interest to me.

We’re good here, as far as I know! I don’t tend to watch local news. Maybe I should start! winky

Stay safe, my friend!

Mostly piddling around BUT I did button a few loose ends…

Yoyo’s in the ceiling that will hopefully pull the Girl’s away from the bulb and hopefully prevent the light burns I caused the last go round.

I do believe that will work. It worked up in the Loft, it was just a little too late.

Note: I bought these because the description said White Nylon (I think that was the wording) which I presumed meant the fishing line was White making it more visible in a grow. They’re not, the body is While Nylon, or whatever phrase they used, and the string is clear fishing line. I need something more visible. I cut through a few when I was trying to trim things up there the last time.

Here’s a shot from the ziipper door peeking around the MH…I put in a anchored and weighted yardstick…it just sits on the top of the bucket. I can move it around.

Then I went up in the attic to button some of that up…I decided to go out the Gable End instead of the Eave out front.

I’m going to replace that foil spiral hose on the A/C Exhaust with a single piece spiral hose (it’s either Vivosun or AC Infinity, I’ve had that one (opened box) for a good little while) starting from within the Classroom and out to the Gable End, side-by-side with the Heat Extraction.

I’m pretty sure I want to add a “Booster” fan to the A/C exhaust.

I almost bought the AC Infinity 6 inch Booster Fan BUT I soon realized it doesn’t fit in with the AC Infinity Controller 67 “Family”. They don’t play well together, it seems. frown

And, along those lines.

I set up my first Automation for the AC Infinity Controller 67.

I told it to turn off the Heat Extraction Fan when it’s Lights Out.

BUT, while researching the AC Infinity Controller 67 Programming Instructions I ran across AC Infinity’s NEW Controller. The AC Infinity Controller 69!

It actually looks like a great addition to their product line…but won’t suit my needs here. I don’t have LED grow lights. Nor do I have a clip-on fan. As for their Louvered Fan, they don’t make one 6 inch, and I don’t want to cut a hole that large through the Galvanized Steel Siding up on the Gable End.

And, as of right now, the depth of my research, it looks like I’m going to have to buy another T6 type of fan to pull the heat out AND coordinate with the AC Infinity Controller 67.

What I ‘think’ I see a need for is a way to turn off the A/C went its Lights Out…I don’t see how I can accomplish that…certainly not with the AC Infinity Controller 67.

I still have some minor gaps to insulate, then I’m going to start on the full width door stops.

I ‘may’ move the door to the South a couple inches. Those antique hinges (attaching through the front of the frame and door) are pretty deep. Deeper than a 2x4.

Then finish the threshold.

Hey, @Rhino_buddy …I hope you and yours are safe in your Hidey-Hole!

Good morning!

Make it a great day! tup

Hey folks! wavy.

Nothing much to speak of.

Here’s the numbers…

Res. Temps…

I bought a better dedicated Temperature Gauge for the Reservoir. Has not yet arrived.

pH…

The temps are up just a tiny bit. I realized when I was in there for the 10pm feeding, that the last time I was in there I must have closed the deflector on top of the A/C unit. I have been watching the reservoir temperatures closely.

E.C. .8.

I just like the effect of the blue light in the Res.!

Environmentals…

Here’s the Girls, through the MH lens! puke ROFLMAO

In order…

The above is 20 inches tall, that’s the only one I looked at. It does look from a glance that #5 is a bit taller than that.

This one…

Sorry for the ugly pictures. The Girls are looking lovely and very healthy.

I hope you all are making your days great! tup

Veg. Day 5:

Girls are cold during Lights Out.

I have a remedy on the way; a 20A Timer for the A/C Unit. I’ll turn the A/C off for those 6 hours of Lights Out, along with the Heat Extraction Fan.

The timer is due in this coming Thursday.

The Temperature Gage I mentioned did come in today…

I bought the Inkbird IBS-TH1.

I bought the Inkbird IBS-TH1 thinking it would join my Inkbird product family in the primary App that I already use.

I was wrong, again. It has its own App.

That is less important than knowing the true Res. Temps!

So, here’s the numbers…

Res. Temps…

pH…

E.C. Bouncing .6 and .8 = .7…

Here’s the Girls, in order, in pairs…

1

I was alternating between setting up the shots with the Green light on my headlamp and no light for the images above.

I will try to turn on the overhead LED in there to see if that helps with the photography.

I will get on the other side of the garden to take pictures of those Girls on the other side.

Environmentals (as of their 6pm feeding and pre-Lights On)…

Oh, remember what I said was a mistake on my part regarding the Oscillating Fan Mount?

It turns out I didn’t cut anything wrong.

I didn’t cut the verticals. I was supposed to cut some of its length off and I didn’t. It’s not that I cut something wrong, it’s that I didn’t cut it at all! facepalm ROFLMAO

I’ll catch that the next time I’m preparing the space for new Girls. I ‘might’ just build a new one and not care so much about getting the old wood in there.

I also started on modifying the Brothers Made Coffee Table into shelving last night…

With the janky construction, I ‘tried’ to align the top edges of the sides with the perfectly aligned Bench Top Protectors to then measure the distances for the shelving.

It’s touching three of the four Bench Top Protectors…not the fourth…

I’m not trying to rework the Brother’s work, trying to get everything cut perfectly or square…it’s not. I’m just adding shelving. The boards are rather warped, too. Everything is being measured from that front edge and the top edges.

With that done, I reassembled their coffee table base. I did add wood glue.

Now, I’m trying to find some suitable material for the shelves.

They’re 13-3/4 inch wide and just under 11 inches deep with a tentative dado of 5/8 inch.

I am going to have to edge joint some lumber and glue them up. Since I can not Joint wider than 6 inches (I don’t have a sled for the Thicknesser, yet) I’ll have to sort to find 7 foot of lumber I can get 6 14 inch by 5/8 inch thick parts out of (the width of the dadoes I cut to support the new shelving).

This first candidate is not too badly warped, bowed, twisted…but, it’s too wide. It won’t fit on the Jointer.

Second candidate is narrow enough but badly badly warped, bowed, twisted.

Will have to work this out in my head before I put lumber to tool. I ‘may’ have to add a beauty strip to the front of each shelf to get the math and materials to work.

I have a trip into the “City” tomorrow.

I am bringing my Sister her Tomato Cages and, hopefully the Brothers Made Coffee Table/Shelving :crossed_fingers:.

Since I’m going to be dragging my trailer down there for the tomato cages, I’m going to try and load up on some building supplies…gonna try.

I hope you’re all making it a great night! tup

I decided to joint a cut-off from the door jamb to test things out. I then sent it through the Thicknesser.

This Spalted Red Oak looks awesome!

Just a test…

The Yellow is not your eyes playing a trick on you winky

Gonna select the lumber. Maybe part some out. Thinking about ripping that first candidate to width and use that.

Then call it a night (probably, maybe, possibly…who knows! ROFLMAO)!

Oh, I sanded most of the funk off of the carcass while I had it apart…smoke damage…etc. It looked like it was in standing water for some time. I left a hint of that.

Good morning!

I selected another board entirely last night…

I only need about 75 inches of this 101+ inch board…

I tried to hang the half I was going to cut off the workbench…that didn’t work too well. It was teetering off the edge.

I had to clamp the wood to the bench without impeding the use of the Guide Rails.

I had some scraps from when I was prototyping the modified ship’s ladder that I used for clamps. You can see how much of that piece of lumber is hanging off the bench.

A 101+ inch cut without clamping the Guide Rail down, just clamping the wood to the bench with the guide rail laying on top.

That worked out well!

I had a thought last night that IF I have to add width to the shelves I’ll use some of the Spalted Red Oak in between the 2 pieces I know I’ll need as a feature. I mentioned a beauty strip added to the front edge. I think I like that idea of normal red oak strips with spalted red oak in between. I think that should look nice.

I’ll see ya’ll on the flip side!

I looked at a Festool dealer up here…
They don’t have a guide rail that long… maybe it’s two 75" rails connected together?

Nosing?!?! That’s just plain silly!

ROFLMAO

It is a sweet setup! Thank you, my friend!

The 75 inch guide rail comes with the TS75. I bought an extra 42 inch guide rail with it.

They do make a 118 inch guide rail. I knew I would never have a need for that long of a cut regularly and in the odd instances where I do need a longer cut I have an additional 3-1/2 feet of track.

Came in handy here.

Thanks for adding to the discussion, guys! Always a treat! tup

The 20A timer came in…

The Girls will be less chilly in Lights Out! tup

I should be able to dial in the numbers a little better!

Will babysit it tomorrow to make sure it turns the A/C off for 12pm Lights Out.

Also, that A/C is the only thing plugged into that outlet. I’m going to remove that 6-way outlet. That orange cord is a 3-way splitter, it’s not being used at all…it’s just sitting there.

Veg. Day 8:

The numbers…

pH…

pH is a little low. I added about 10 gallons from the 20 gallons I took out of the Res. the other day.

I took a picture of the E.C. Truncheon but it didn’t catch the flashing light on.

It read .6. I’ll start bumping that up a little.

Environmentals…

Res. Temps…

The Girls. With the overhead LED on just pre-Lights On. Paired in order…and, I caught the last 3 from the Zipper Door side as I said I would…

1 - Bubba Kush (Runt).

2 - Bubba Kush.

3 - Bubba Kush.

4 - Afghan Kush.

5 - Afghan Kush.

6 - Bubba Kush.

IF you go back to the pictures you’ll see where I moved the Dehumidifier nearer to the Reservoir and on top of that old janky cabinet.

I’ve decided to move the Dehumidifier to the North wall, the non-stud wall. I want to build a shelf there for the Dehumidifier to give me a little more room on that East side of the grow. I’m going to have to build a structure on that North wall to support it. A couple of studs only attached to the ceiling joists and the floor.

I’m going to also remove that 30 gallon barrel from the grow space.

I was going to try and keep it in the Under-Loft as a Temperature controlled Add Reservoir and fill it with RO water.

That’s just not going to work in there. There isn’t enough room in there for me to move around and for #1 to grow in to. As it is now I’m brushing up against #1 every time I’m in there messing with the Res…

And, I haven’t made any progress on the Brothers Made Coffee Table/Shelving.

Will try and get some of it done tonight.

Make it a great night, please!?!? winky

Coming along…

Going to pick up the Ledger Board on the North wall in the Under-Loft, the notch is going around the West side ceiling joist…it ‘should’ get me right to the East edge of that Under-Floor Access. :crossed_fingers:

While contemplating material for the shelf. I grabbed up those 2 Spalted Red Oak I milled up as a test for the Brothers Made Coffee Table/Shelving.

They sure would make a fine shelf anywhere!

Then I saw this other off-cut and remembered I ‘thought’ I could see “Birdseye” under the surface…

I sure want to process that piece just to see IF it is Birdseye. Birdseye Red Oak is not very common from my rudimentary knowledge of the topic.

Whatever material I decide to use (leaning towards that new off-cut) I found 2 of the few remaining pieces/parts from the Modified Ship’s Ladder Prototyping I’m going to use as shelf supports.

Going to start with pocket holes in the horizontal cross-supports, then the shelf and its supports.

But, I’ve just decided I’m going to drain the Reservoir, transfer what I have in the 30 gallon barrel next to it, top off the Res., pH it and check E.C.

So, I’m going to be doing both, sort of simultaneously.

That will get the 30 gallon barrel out of the space, which will allow me to mount the Dehumidifier at about the same height as I have it now sitting on that janky cabinet.

IF I were to put the Dehumidifier on that wall without removing the 30 gallon barrel I would have to mount it somewhere around 12 inches higher…which would make using its control panel more difficult than it needs to be.

Better get to it!

NOT Birdseye Red Oak. The above is that end of that piece after milling.
