WHAB’s 1924 Brick Schoolhouse RDWC

This is where they are going.

These are the 2nd and 3rd attempts at fitting the mount in place.

Will have to wait for the Nutes to return to the Res. now…it finishes about 1 minute (started at 8 minutes! ROFLMAO) from now.

I drained and refilled the Reservoir with fresh. More of a time constraint than anything. I had to have something to send to the Girls by 2am feeding.

Will see how pH returns to see if I have to adjust it.

E.C. 1.0. That is 1/2 of the Mega Crop Parts A&B Vegetative recipe.

I want to get the shelf up even if I don’t move the Dehumidifier.

I emptied the 30 gallon barrel and got it out of there, too!

OH, I calibrated the pH pen, just because…and, I have yoyo’d 3 branches already.

Good morning!

Make it a great day, dammit! winky

A mid-build design change bit me in the ass.

I had originally designed it with a cleat across the vertical supports to hold the rear of the shelf. With a single diagonal support for the front of the shelf.

I changed it to the Squared off-cuts from the modified ship’s ladder prototype. With the Test Shelves from earlier that long leg supported more than 1/2 of the outward shelf (2 pieces).

Even though I did cut that new off-cut as a shelf I thought it would still work.

It won’t.

I forgot that I had that East vertical pieced tucked in behind the Reservoir, so I could get the widest shelf I could get back there. Trying to better utilize that space…

Missed It By :pinching_hand: Much, Chief!

Will get back at it later today…they’re feeding now.

Good morning!

By “later today” I meant late tonight!

ROFLMAO

I didn’t do too much yesterday.

Today, I went to ‘town’, mowed half the lawn (it’s been way too wet the past 10 days or so), offered more than an hour to my Sister trying to help her with her sewer hose (it ‘may’ cause me a trip to the “City” tomorrow), and then got back on that Dehumidifier Shelf.

I decided to go back to the original a horizontal cleat to support the back of the shelf.

It became very difficult to try to remove the assembly so I thought there must be a better way.

I decided to take it apart in place.

Besides that very back corner behind the Reservoir, I picked the second most difficult area to work in! ROFLMAO

I’ve been thinking this whole time that I really like that extended diagonal shelf support reaching out to near where the front edge will be.

So, I changed my mind again!

Not really, I just thought of an other way.

A Hybrid winky

I can catch 2-5/16 inch of the shelf on the short support. I’m going to angle it out to the front edge of the shelf, the depth of which still needs cut.

This is my first edge-to-edge glue up.

It’s wee tiny, but it is my first. Good practical exam winky

I already see I should have taken more of a bad edge off since I’m going to have to cut it’s depth anyway. It’s 11-1/2 inch wide now and I only need 10 inches for the Dehumidifier. IF I have to cut it I will. IF I don’t I won’t.

That’s the approximate angle in pencil in the above image.

The Girls are looking amazingly! Ugly-ass MH pictures! ROFLMAO

I have to start thinking about taking some clones soon and flipping the Girls. The 2 I looked at for height are over 20 inches.

They had a rather lengthy “rooting” period Whistle and that should be taken into consideration.

I’m going to try and get in there while the glue is drying to start trimming them up a bit.

Good morning, everyone!

Make it a great day! rockon

I thought about not finishing this morning.

The thought of those 2 ladies nearest the North-East corner being crowded for even another day persuaded me otherwise.

Once the glue-up was dry I lopped off that corner with the TS75 on Rail.

That short corner lines up nearly perfectly with the short diagonal support beneath it.

I briefly, very briefly, considered making mitered cuts around the 55 gallon barrel…but thought better of it.

Having that bit protruding from the front, the edge that could get cut back…I decided, for now, not to cut it…has proved handy! It is holding the new Inkbird Temp&Humidity Gage and my old AcuRite Hydrometer.

But, the janky cabinet is out of the space…

tup

Then, since we’re taking ugly pictures…ROFLMAO

Here’s the Girls…

And, again, that Girl on the far left (Afghan Kush) is about 22 inches, I just saw…the other one, 2 spots over from that one (Bubba Kush), is taller by about an inch or so.

Good morning!

Make it great day!

Happy Mother’s Day all you MOTHERS out there!

13 days since my last… facepalm

My apologies to those regular visitors, sincerely.

The Girls are doing MARVELOUSLY! I’m quit chuffed at their performance, regardless my attempts at impeding them! ROFLMAO

I just trimmed them up. I said I would do that a while back but only just now got around to it. I actually don’t like trimming them…it’s a lot of labor. The flip side is I wind up with a bunch of straggly under-growth the last go round.

I also said a while back that I would apply the Girls their jewelry. I hadn’t done it yet because I can’t find the green zip-ties I bought for that purpose! ROFLMAO I used some of that garden ties…comes in a roll. I know I had the zip-ties out but I can’t remember where! ROFLMAO

A few of them are already getting ‘a little’ out of hand, though! crazy

I just saw, for the first time, that there are branches bowing down on a couple of them…you’ll see it in the images. They’re seemingly fine. In fact, I am surprised at how well they are looking! Very healthy.

Veg. Day 21(?)…I am pretty sure it’s 21.

Since the last I had a concern about the Res. Temps. I gave them a low dose of H202 and then a low dose of HydroGuard. The Temps came down but they seem to be rising a bit again starting today. The Nutrients are completely light blocked. Everything looks good, Res…buckets…roots…etc.

The numbers as of an hour+ ago…

this shit takes sooooo bloody long! ROFLMAO

I’ve topped the res off with about 15 gallons in the prior 13 days. And, I see now it needs at least another 10 gallons when I get done here.

pH…

I never did bump up the nutes very much since my last. I will do that with this mix.

In order but starting with #2 Bubba Kush. I left the runt, #1 Bubba Kush until last since it was easier to work around.

I took them all out of their buckets and out of the room. Much easier for me to work on! Most of it being done on the “Multi-Function Slab” disco

One reason I didn’t put the air hose through to the top of the net pot (@JoeCrowe winky). I had it in my head at the time that I’d prefer to bring the Girls out to do the duty! One last look at the roots, too…btw.

#2 Bubba Kush (5 images)…

#3 Bubba Kush (4 images)…

#4 Afghan Kush (4 images)…(the only one I measured accurately)

#5 Afghan Kush…paired…

#6 Bubba Kush…

#1 Bubba Kush, the Runt…

Very interesting that the roots don’t seem to be the least bit attracted to the drain hole in the bucket. They’re very interested in the air stones. Subsuming them a bit winky

The roots gave me this impression…

image

crazy

ROFLMAO

They’re loving their buckets, especially the stones. The roots are curling back UP into the bucket (DOWN in the above image ROFLMAO).

It may not look like it but the trimming got more aggressive the deeper I got into the process.

Gotta top off the Res…(I’d prefer going and laying down, been thinking about it since about an hour into this! ROFLMAO)!

Gonna better prop the Girls up. I literally didn’t see them sagging like that. I’m standing there right next to them and didn’t see it. ROFLMAO

Good morning!

I do hope you’ve ALL been making your days GREAT! tup

The aftermath…

I exchanged the seemingly Excessive Sawdust in the most recently previous images with Beautiful Greenery! ROFLMAO

The flower pot bellow forcefully squished down…a 2 gallon pot…

Actually, I had dropped one of the original “finish” screws in the Brothers Made Coffee Table Base and I didn’t want to lose it or have it sucked up in either my Dust Collection or Dust Extraction systems! winky

Both types of floor covering are appealing to me! ROFLMAO

Again, the best of mornings to you all and make it a great day!

I may have prematurely announced all was well with the Res.

Temps continued to rise since my last post.

Current Res. Temps…

cantlook nonofinger

Those temps don’t look right. Lights have been off for 2 hours. I’m now wondering IF I put the Res. Temp Sensor back in the Res or is it dangling out of the Res. facepalm ROFLMAO I had the top of it off earlier this morning (last night). I do not believe that to be the case.

I convinced myself I’d have to go get the A/C unit in the Loft down and throw it in the Under-Loft…the one I was dreading having to hoist down in reverse of how I hoisted it up there. Dreading it!

I have the Twin to that A/C unit in the Classroom, the one that didn’t work…from my Sisters place. Before her place burned up.

I decided now was as good a time to diagnose it as any other time. I took mine apart a while back, years…and I sort of remembered how it broke down, came apart.

What’s that above? We all know what that is!

It wasn’t until I got the front section separated from the rest of it…disconnecting and marking what I disconnected.

The above is likely the culprit (I won’t know until I repair it to find out). I gave the whole thing the once over and I didn’t see anything until I got the front removed.

Having found the break I needed to find the other end of it. It wasn’t obvious but swinging the loose end up and around to its extent the likely location of the other end of that damaged wire seemed to reach into the rats nest.

That’s it! Zoom in and you can see the shredded end of the wire.

I rerouted the wire to get me a little extra length to make up for what I had to cut off to get to a good end and some overlap when I solder it together.

I’ll tin the ends, solder them together, then heat shrink it and see IF it works.

:crossed_fingers:

So, a little change in plans. Emergency A/C Repair & Swap! 14,000 BTU’s to 9,000BTU’s.

IF this works it should make for a better piece of equipment to keep the heat at bay.

Once I get the new (repaired) A/C unit in place I’m going to Drain and Refill the Reservoir to ensure things don’t go South on me.

It’s twin works amazingly well. The control panel on the twin doesn’t work - broken segments…can’t read it BUT It works great with the remote control.

But, I’m ready for a nap! My Electrician got me up WAY early this morning. He came by to finish up with the Ceiling Fan Control Swap.

He’s coming back around the middle of next week to add a couple of 120V circuits and at least one 240V circuit. He’s been busy, that’s why he hasn’t been back since his last visit here weeks ago.

Hopefully party-smiley-048 soon! winky

Edit Add: That did not go as well as I had hoped. I can’t get the solder to flow properly. I don’t think it is Flux Core solder…I thought it was. I sort of got is soldered together, barely. IF it is a good connection, which I don’t believe it is, then the repair failed. Take another look around. Make sure I plugged the terminations back into place sufficiently. Oh, I also couldn’t find my Shrink Tube kit. I know I’ve seen it here! ROFLMAO Will consider further.

Edit Add II: I found the shrink tube. Exactly where I thought I had last seen it but the kit was showing me a face that didn’t register with my Thought Process Machine! My overripe melon was telling me to look for the translucent case. ROFLMAO

I gave it a more thorough examination and the only thing I can see with my eyes is this on the “motherboard” where the other terminations I removed to get the front off are…there is a empty socket just above this bared wire…

And, I don’t think that is the problem. Yes, some of its strands are bared but it’s not cut through or touching anything else.

Puzzled.

I thought I had figured out what was wrong.

Now I’m going to have to hoist down the A/C I never wanted to get down from the Loft, while I continue pondering the possibilities for what is wrong with its twin.

IF anyone has any suggestions or recommendations I’d be keen to receive them tup

Dang!,

I haven’t made much progress. I’ve been puzzling over it for a while and haven’t come up with any ideas.

I went looking for Flux Core Solder and found my other, better solder iron…

Not sure where the dang tip ran off to, though! ROFLMAO I emptied the box it was in looking for it - nope, not in there!

I just bought a tip kit and some flux core solder. It’s supposed to be here tomorrow, they tell me…

I’m having a thought that my poor attempt at soldering the repair isn’t a good joint, maybe contaminated…mouse piss and all! puke ROFLMAO

It took forever to even heat the wire to accept solder, an especially long time. I think that is part of the problem as well. Bad joint, weak iron.

See the blue tape?

It’s a ceramic cup to hold the iron. I broke it the last time I had it out - packing it up, I’m pretty sure.

I just used Carnation Evaporated Milk to repair it.

My Mom taught me that trick decades ago and I still rely on it.

A friend brought the below back from Amsterdam for me about a decade ago. I was babysitting their garden and their doggo while they were away.

It was crazed and cracked when I got it. I’ve been treating it delicately this entire time.

I slung it off my desk a few weeks ago.

I repaired it with the Evaporated Milk. It held together even though I knocked it off the desk after that.

The other day I almost knocked it off the desk again and instead flung it off my desk with great force trying to save it! ROFLMAO

I just repaired it again, for at least the second time…

Resin stains were after the BIG repair…several small pieces all around it. Some pieces were either too small to put back in place or too small to even find.

Thanks Mom! Neat trick!

On another note; I’m reluctantly going up to the Loft to bring the beast down.

IF I can fix the twin A/C unit I’ll have it as back up or for any other usage that may arise.

Make it a great night, folks!

From up there…

…to down there…

It ‘could have’ been worse! tup

I think those vanes will snap back in place - I’m hoping. It was the best face to put towards my ‘slide’. There was a chance it could pull me over the edge with it…the vanes were knocked out of place when that face came back and hit the side of that joist on the way down. That railing, I know for a fact, could not prevent me from going over the edge with it - the railing, the beast of an A/C unit, and ME! ROFLMAO

I haven’t reinforced that railing yet. I’ll get to it! ROFLMAO

Now, it’s best that I provide this unit with Intake Air…fresh air in. A dual hose setup. IF you don’t provide fresh air it circulates the air wherever the end of the hose is…

I’m going to try and bring fresh air in through my second Doran Light-Proofed Dark Room Vent…when I move it, of course! That’s why I hadn’t insulated that precise spot on the tall wall (East).

Thought Process Machine just spit this up! Take fresh air from under the floor. The coolest, darkest spot in the entire structure. I’d have to devise a tight screen (women’s hose tight). Gonna roll this one around a minute or two! winky

Welp, I did it this time. I broke it.

Gonna try and fix it, of course. I’m pretty sure I can. I’ll slather it up with some JB Weld.

This (these Whistle)…

Should look like the this, the one on the right (winky)

While it is down would be a great time to do a deep clean on the outlet end of things. I don’t have that convenience, at this moment.

I will do a serviceable clean on it.

Another problem I noticed when I brought the beast down…it has a 5 inch hose. I had (have ROFLMAO) a load of 5 inch rigid vent pipe, ROFLMAO I bought 6 inch for this A/C setup! ROFLMAO

Gotta get at it. According to the Inkbird Temp. Sensor in the Res it says it’s 75F! I have concoctions to deal with the temps but I’d prefer to bring the Temps down instead of making the Nutes Temperature Resistant! winky

Well…this did not go the way I thought it would, although shipping was extremely rapid!

Pictures are deceptive. Understand, I’m trying to find tips for a “vintage” soldering iron. Accurate information is difficult to find. I spent hours yesterday searching.

I thought these tips would fit the “vintage” Ungar UTC SS soldering iron…

Those obviously won’t work frown

So, I spent another few hours today re-searching my research.

I arrived here after failing to find the exact solder tips I need…skinning that cat in another direction…

https://www.amazon.com/Nylon-Disconnect-Connectors-Automatic-Stripper/dp/B09GRSJ1ZK

I’ll try to join those 2 cut ends I made. IF that doesn’t work I’ll run a new wire.

As for the A/C change, I’m back to figuring out drainage for the 14,000BTU unit before I make the exchange.

I have all (most, I’m short a cap, I think) the PVC I’ll need. I’m just dreading getting under the floor and cutting into the sewer line.

I say I’m short a cap because IF I’m going to run a drain for the Under-Loft space then I want to run it up to the Loft and possibly up to the Attic…so I’ll need to plumb that in for now with plans to extend it upwards…I’ll need to cap the open end until that/those extension(S) is/are completed.

Make it a great night, folks! rockon

About the drainage for the 14,000BTU A/C unit I mentioned. I have this…I purchased and used this the last go round…

I don’t like it. It’s HUGE. But, more than that, the bottom of the drain hole is about 1/2 inch off bottom and with about a 1/4 inch of the fitting thickness that put the drain at about 3/4 inch off the bottom. That means the water I wanted to remove just sat there in the drain pan, in the grow…left to evaporate and worse, collect bugs.

With that setup what was collected didn’t start to exit the drain pan until the level got over the I.D. edge of the bottom, or about 3/4 inch crazy

I prototyped a base for a new drain pan. One I will make.

Seeing that that will ‘likely’ work, I found a bottom for the drain pan.

This is where I arrived…

It has a 1/4 inch incline in 16 inches that will force the water to the drain hole and the the I.D. edge of the drain hole is now about 3/8 inch off the bottom.

I think this will work.

All made out of scrap, btw.

I’m going to make the base out of 2x4 material.

I’m going to make a liner for it…probably some of the Poly Shield. I ‘think’ that is the thickest plastic sheeting that I have. IF I come across something thicker I will use that.

Once that is done, I’ll put it in the tub and leak test it. I ‘may’ have to buy another rubber gasket it for it as it only came with 1 and this application ‘may’ require 2.

IF that works I’ll do what I have to do to set it up in the grow and make the A/C swap.

I did repair that A/C vane. It seems to be holding. It’s ready to reassemble but, I’m thinking over whether or not I want to add additional lateral support for it. I will likely wait for the repair I made to break then fix that! ROFLMAO

Temps are great right now - with the cooler outdoor temps. Going to be consistently getting warmer as this month comes to a close. I hope to be ready for it.

I should say, I hope the Girls will be ready for it. As for the “I” will be ready for the heat - no, I won’t. I can’t afford the A/C unit I want for my comfort yet. The Girls should be diggin’ what I have done for them, though. smoke

Imma rollitup and get to bed!

Good morning!

Make it a great day! rockon

Okay, I could use some help here, please.

Last night while I was figuring out the A/C problem I heard the system working when it should have been off.

My Feed Pump is siphoning back into the Control Bucket while the Drain Pump is running. It’s not allowing the Drain Pump to empty the system back into the Reservoir.

I don’t know why this problem restarted but it needs fixed.

Can anyone recommend a solution, please? An anti-siphon valve? A procedure? Drilling a small hole in the top of the Feed Hose in the Control Bucket?

My searching is not producing results. Most are landing on sprinkler system anti-siphon valves…the huge brass type.

My Feed Hose is 1 inch in diameter.

Thank you in advance!

I’ll be back. I have to go mow the yard while I can. It’s been raining a bunch! More ran for days after today.
