A couple of years ago, I finally landed my dream job of getting to play with weed all day at one of Ohio’s medical grow facilities. The same week I started there, I got a call from a fishing buddy that is VP of a hazmat and demolition company and they made me an offer I couldnt turn down. So I went from playing with bud all day to playing with asbestos and all kinds of nasty shit.
I also run my own company doing Radon testing, mitigation, and mold remediation. Guess im a sucker for dirty jobs.

I’m still trying to get a dancing job. Tiny Dancer . No! I’m talking trash. Sounds funny

Until Oct 2022 I was making cow, chicken, hog, etc feed. Have been on long term disability since then and for the foreseeable future. I’m considering this like temporary retirement…lol. Definitely trying to enjoy my time off though…even if health isn’t 100%.

I miss rubbing elbows with the hudderites. They always have wild stories and fantastic meats and eggs.

You shouldn’t talk about yer tiny dancer like that.

Hey, somebody’s gotta do it!

I’m a firm believer that every job is important.
Right down to the person that flips you’re burger at the fast food joint or bags your groceries at the store. Hey, not for me…but someone is happy doing it, and we as a society need those people too. :slightly_smiling_face:

Love this attitude and very much agree. You know how much it makes my day sometimes to say hi or get a question answered at a store from a nice person? Shoot sometimes it can make my whole week!

One time a guy at the dump took the time to explain to me how the different recyling stuff works and how stuff goes “back into society”. So daggon cool

I wish more people thought this way. I mean, I’ll definitely talk shit about how the teen at Taco bell could screw up an order of two tacos, lol. But never to their face. And I definitely don’t look down on them. Hey, it ain’t for me. But, it’s for someone! They were probably just too stoned hehe.

I need help. I’m lost. I never ask for help. But I’m on the verge of mentally breaking down from my job in retail. Work doesn’t stress me out but dealing with the public does.
I just wish there was something I could do where I don’t have to play the social games so much. I’m a fast learner and a hard worker. I just need something that allows me to work without juggling peoples mood swings and outbursts and drama.
I see guys like me with good jobs and i just wonder how on earth they got into it.
Just seems like everyday I’m dying slowly at this job and I can’t break through to something better.
I’m not even getting calls back on applications. I’ve saved a good amount of money though.

What are you paying for? What do you want to do? What interests you?

If you are young and healthy find a job in construction. Electricians plumbers hvac…drywallers painters landscapers…all make good money but spend a lot of time working and not talking to customers. That’s why yiu have foreman and salesmen and managers…

Second this. Union electrician apprentice, but I would say carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or pipe fitters are a great fit.

There will be people to talk to, but they are all in the same boat. I make really good money and when I turn out, I’ll be able to travel anywhere and apply my trade. I plan on staying in town and growing, but its a sweet gig.

School isnt easy, but anybody with a good head on their shoulders can do it. Ive worked in glass factories in the summer and outdoors during the winter. I’ve given up weekends with family and friends to work 12 hour overnight shifts at automotive factories, and I have been fed up from time to time, but… I no longer have the need for roommates to pay my rent, I get to do something new damn near every week, I get to work with my hands and brain to make things work, and when I am forced to work those shit hours, I am handsomely rewarded.

Find your local union, any of them, and ask when they take applications. There’s a massive shortage of tradesman, my local training center is doubling the size of its building to take on double the amount of students. If you don’t like it, you can always find something else. I don’t love what I do every day, but I am happy with the life it provides for me, and the benefits are shocking.
