I know a local grower in my area and just bought up the last of his crop from a seeds that were sold as “Chemdawg.” (Yes, I know it’s spelled ‘dog’ but this is apparently how the seed was spelled) I asked him which breeder he got the seeds from, but he doesn’t really care about that stuff like I do. I do know he bought them on Seedsman, so when I met him a few months ago I searched that website and got two results, Greenhouse and HSO(HSC?) There may have been a different selection when he bought them like a year or so ago but that’s what it was when I searched.
This “Chemdawg” bud itself surprised me with the smell - it’s Fuel-based for sure, but it’s a very sweet fuel. I’ve never knowingly had the original Chem cuts - 91, D, 4. But I’ve read about them for years and have had plenty of OGs, a couple legit Diesels back in the day, and a few “Chemdawg” concentrates + one flower labelled as “Chemdawg” some years back and this stuff I have now is similar with the fuel base but much different from what I’ve come to expect from something with “Chem”. The overtone is sweet and not really sour and not skunky at all. So I’m wondering what it might be.
(Unfortunately the flavor is a bit off, like he flushed most of the plant but didn’t get all of it so I don’t have a good description of the flavor, but it smells great and has potent effects.)
The Greenhouse version isn’t even Chem at all but OG x Diesel, so I’m wondering if this could be that? I know this question is a random shot in the dark, but I’m really interested because I’ve always been fascinated by the Dog. Such a cool origin story, I’ve loved OG for a decade now and Sour Diesel was my first experience with high-end cannabis (PHEW what a difference it was from the Mexican brick I was used to at the time).
TD;LR: Have you ever had “Chemdawg” seeds that ended up with “sweet fuel” terps? If so, which seed line/breeder/cut was it?
