Who plans on making seeds?

so I’ve used paper and plastic I the plastic is easier I guess but I get nervous if I have to leave it sealed idk why so yeah its j uth st a matter of isolating whatever branch or branches were pollinated and the water doesn’t kill the pollen it just keeps it from blowing all over a mix of iso and water kills pollen but I haven’t tried it yet and don’t know the ratio yet but I have bagged and dusted branches then sprayed and returned on many occasions with great success just remember to label everything and never dust in a tent unless you want everything seeded

Ace! So a safe method can be “pollenate → mist down with water → place back in tent”?

I don’t want to contradict @cannabliss here but everything I’ve read and been told is that wetting the pollen ruins it. When I pollinated I waited until the next day to spray it to keep the other colas from getting pollinated because of advice I got here. This goes against everything I’ve heard but if true would be useful info.

Okay. I’m gonna err of the side of caution. Each set of four will be pulled out and dusted in different spaces and kept apart for 24 hours before a wet down and then all return to the 4x4. My 2x4 is empty so 4 can go in there while the other 4 stay in the 4x4. I’ll wet down the interior when i spray down those 4 before returning the others back from the 2x4.

You don’t need to wait a full 24 hours after dusting. I would just separate and pollinate before lights out. Once lights come back on you can spray em all down and put them back together.

Thanks @Oldtimerunderground ! Sounds like a better plan time wise

Any opinion of current bud sit size relating to pollination timing?

I would wait a couple more days until there are a few more pistils to drop the pollen on them. If you wanted to hit em again a week after that to make even more seeds, that would be fine too. When you do 2 rounds it really helps fill up the buds with seeds. Things are looking good, nice work :ok_hand:

Thank you! Ya know what? I always aim to over do things so i’m gonna hit them up this weekend and again in 2 weeks.

If i’m spending the time, energy & coin on doing this I might as well overdo this!

Don’t wait too long before the 2nd round, you want them to have plenty of time to finish up. I usually stop by end of week 4, at the latest.

Thanks for the warning! I definitely do not want too many under developed seeds.

Shouldn’t be an issue seeing how healthy they are and using the method I described. I like your transplant technique too. You could throw some frosting on that soil and it would look just like a cake lol.

I top water at the stems base and while some water does go into the tower a lot flows off the edge of each tier and progressively wetting the entire mass. Watering is super zen.

If anyone’s wondering what the white on the leaves is I sprayed everything with sulfur when still in veg.

I thought the same thing until last night then I did a bunch of reading and from what I can find it doesn’t actually kill it so I will go with further info needed someone mentioned something about it up further like I said I’ve thought forever wetting it killed it then I went looking further and was shocked myself so if anybody else has any input that would be awsome
I read a bunch of stuff that said if water killed pollen rain would too and we had to use bleach or alcohol that’s why I said I’ve never actually used that method I’ve just always sprayed water and never had an issue so a mystery ensues lol

What I had read when pollen gets wet it’s “active” for about 24hours before it’s ends up “failing” and will no longer be viable. I forget what the terms are; but they pop a lil’ tail to fertilize but it withers by the 24hour mark.

I tried to find the article I read but I forgot to bookmark it.

Weed pollen is meant to be carried by wind so I am guessing the water just prevents it from blowing around but doesn’t kill it. That’s just a guess though.

yeah I have thought and carried on under the idea water killed or deactivated pollen for years now. Yesterday i did a bunch of reading and have found conflicting info as usual. I read a bunch of things that say water does the trick and a bunch stating you need to use peroxide or Iso or bleach even. HMMMMMM
