A Shadey spot to paint

OK more done over the last 2 days.

Painted in the rest of the leaves and added the veins and bud leaves.

Painted in my dark Purples.

Added pale orange over the yellow leaves to darken them up.

Added my reds over the yellow leaves. Starting to come together more now, going to be experimenting with the red/pink over the purple next, and working in the trichs over the bud.

Cheers Stiggy, Yeah, it’s coming on, that’s all my base colours done just got to start all the detailing now. The soft highlights are the hardest to get right, without losing the colour underneath and keeping the luminosity…

I would have guessed keeping the leaf veins clean would be a PITA.

Your thinking like an airbrusher man :+1:yeah, they will get burried in the next bit lol and I will have to go back over them before the final bit of highlighting. I deliberately left them wider than they need to be as the thickness will be reduced with every colour I add on top of the leaves.

A bit more done today.

Added purple pink on the leaf veins after adding some high lights on the front left one as an experiment, that has given the leaf more depth but not licking it much atm. Also added the pinky purple to the 4 yellow orange leaves on the top whuich doesn’t look too bad. Put in some trichomes and shaded some bud leaves lilac.

Went back over the Lilac bud leaves with more trichomes, just need to shade some of the bud areas for more depth.

For these, is it a differen’t nozzle or setup? Looks like you spent hours with a pin or needle & a bit of paint.

:joy: Probably only makes sense to US OGers but:

I use an artist’s fine detail brush, and spent 2 hour’s doing tiny dots😵 with an artist’s paintbrush, you have to concentrate and you can’t rush as the dots need to be small and uniform.

Maybe I should use glue and sparkles :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ahh-- I did use to mess around with lead figurines as a kid, mostly D&D & Warhammer40k. Sigh…ahh, youth!

 Thanks

Bit more done today.

First I shadowed around the bud and leaves, then did more triches.

Then I painted the leaves closest around the bud another coat of dark purple and added trichomes to those leaves, and more to the bud.

I was not licking the leaves in the left lower corner so I removed them, and re painted the black background to re difine my leaf edges, as it was starting to look a bit blurry. Its balanced the pic up I feel, and will make the final border edge easier to do, without getting over spray on them. Finished off the trichomes on the purple leaves, I will now put a light coat of purple over them to knock back the white and then add more trichomes on top as I did with the bud to give them more depth, which is hard to see in the photo.

Those leaves looked great! They helped to balance the image.

Too bad you couldn’t do a “backup” before removing them…
so you can restore them later if you want to.
