And yes, I have some mothers in solo cups right now and the water goes through them sooo slowly due to the crazy amount of roots. I give em a good squeeze sometimes and it opens them up quite a bit. I freaking love coco lol

That’s cool about the 1 gallon pots. I did my run in half square, and half round, 1 gallon (3.5L) pots. Maybe I’m getting better and maybe I’ve learned a lot in the last few years getting back into it, but this was the easiest run I’ve ever done inside.

After trimming them hard and having them sort of close together, they grew tall and slim, just like I was hoping for. My yield is looking to maybe be a little better than expected. Most definitely the quality is high. The plants look perfect and they smell even perfecter…lol Actually a few may come down today… I lost track of time they were doing so well.

Well that was fun! You could grow this one in your sleep. Tolerant to just about everything, especially dry soil/coco conditions. This cross just wants to pump the herb.

I think #1 is (probably) my pheno of choice. Needs smoke testing though. Big yields and super dense frosty buds on all of these. Definitely need to cut the buds off the stem prior to drying. Low scent, lightly fruity and lemony, some hints of fresh scent detergent.

In about another week or two I’ll be harvesting the Black Domina x Dakini Kush. It’s potentially even more picturesque.

I usually grow pretty compact plants, and only give them about 14-16" square of space. I veg for 3-4 weeks, and start flower pretty small. But I’ve grown big plants, small plants… doesn’t really matter too much. You can fit a lot of roots in 1 gallon of coco. The main difference is how quickly the roots dry up the pots. If you scale down to the size I’m using, you compensate by feeding 3x per day usually. If you run 5 gallon pots, you probably feed 1x per day.

Hmmm. Different in an organic medium. Perhaps because water retention is better than with coco alone. My yields did not approach the ones you reported either so there is that…But I pulled about 2 oz’s per plant on WW about that size in a 5 gallon felt pot. I only had to water every other day. Now I didn’t pull a half lb off it either

Really looking forward to those crosses…will see they hit water by July 1st.

My watering schedule goes something like –
Transplant to 1 gal pots after 2ish weeks in small pots, feed once every 2-3 days at first.
After about a week of that, feed about every day.
Change lights to 12/12 flower.
After about a week of 1x per day, increase to 2x per day.
Another week after that, increase to 3x per day.

hhmmm noted. Which btw I just began using one gallon pots.

I just pick up the pots every couple days just before lights off, and check if they’re getting really light yet. If they’re feeling pretty dry, you can increase the number of feeds.

well if you’re up for an auto water build, it’s not too hard, and costs about $50 or so. I use a big 27 gallon tote, aquarium pump, a few PVC parts and a distributor that has 8 lines. Then you just put it on a cycle timer and set a schedule.

I’ve been using the CocoBliss blocks that are available on Amazon. It’s not the chunky variety, or even very coarse. It holds more water than coarser stuff, but I mix about 20-30% perlite into it. I was using it 100%, but mid-flower, the roots would get too dense and cause drainage/aeration issues. I’d imagine that your mix with the chunks do a similar thing. In such small pots though, it’s probably easier to get the perlite mixed well due to it being smaller pieces.

My next step here is to get testers out to people from the best moms and find which lines are the best. Even though the PTK is from the other side of the mountains, if it’s a clear winner I might still use it. After that, I’ll bring together both of these lines (possibly with some stabilization if the variation starts getting too high), and then start rolling in more from my stash.
