Lol well this was not the best week. Things have been way too busy, and after a week of neglect, I did a close inspection.
BALLS. That damn black afghan line just has em in spades. I killed 3/4 males for intersex traits, and now I’m down to 2 females as well. I lost my favorite female, but am fortunate my 2nd favorite female and my favorite male have survived. Fingers crossed the last ones remain stable… otherwise I’m back to the drawing board.
I’m sure you got a million other plans in your back pocket for your broadleaf project, but if your last Black Afghan male turns out to be unsuitable, I got a couple tangentially related broadleaf odds and ends you may be interested in. Sinai landrace, Tajikistani landrace, Turkish landrace, '79 Christmas Bud Afghani IBL. Yours free if you want 'em. Tajikistan borders northern Afghanistan, I imagine they’re quite similar.
The Sinai are semi-autoflowering, Christmas Bud is very dominant in crosses, the others I haven’t ran.
Have two females running right now, one of which did try to autoflower at like three weeks old. She’s been under 24/0 since then and has went back to vegging. Sorta.
Iirc Angus from RSC said the Sinai is no longer available on location, so it’s 100% up to preservationists to keep it pure at this point.
Glad to hear it wasn’t just me. Yeah she started sorta-flowering for me at about a foot tall under 17-7 light. Gorgeous plants but autos aren’t my bag.
Thanks @vernal. For the moment, I’m starting some everyday haze seeds to try to find a male to bx2 my panama haze. I have some Turkish and Sinai from RSC. I’ve been kicking around between those or going back to Lebanese. What source is your Turkish from?

Unsure. Probably RSC originally, got them in a trade with an East Coast gentleman.
Are the remaining plants free from the stacked leaf mutation? Just trying to keep track since above 
I am guessing since one of the ‘favored’ that would be yes free of leaf stacking.
More than any plant I’ve ever seen, but most of the blame should probably fall on grower error. If she had gotten more light from the start maybe she wouldn’t have started autoflowering.
Both females have leaf mutations actually. One has a really crazy mutation where it looks like a smaller fan leaf is coming out of another fan leaf. I’ll get a picture of it pretty soon.

I haven’t been able to grow in months due to a lease restriction, but we just bought a house so I’ll be back soon with a huge new setup. Great to be able to take care of some plants!
I sperminated the remaining two females with a massive beast of a male that was absolutely dumping pollen all over.
When I pulled the females from the main tent to do a clean pollination I noticed their god mode root systems.
They needed a huge reservoir refill, they’re thirsty ladies for sure, but look super happy.
Despite my best efforts to kill @lefthandseeds grow, the plants gave me the finger and kept blasting off.
Thought I’d give the last update as my lady-sitting duty is done.
This guy has pretty long internodes but is going to have a killer donkey wang at the end of this.

Whew, it’s good to be back. Big thanks to @8k_feet for keeping my plants alive for 2 weeks.
I’m almost down to 1 female in the tent. I noticed nanners popping from the one that appears to be flowering faster. There’s 1 great hope left among the ladies. I like the better internode spacing on her as well. The one throwing nanners has a little more resin and smells INSANE. Except for all the intersex passed along by the Black Afghan, this cross is nuts. I’m really pulling for this last girl. So far, so good, but we will see over the next few weeks.
I cleaned up the male I had. Only 1 male with no intersex traits… so hopefully genes that will not pass along hermaphroditism. I collected a ton of pollen… so I’m going to dry it out really well and freeze it in several portions. If it turns out to be good, it’ll be magic fairy dust on a ton of stuff. I might even use it to outcross and back cross if necessary.
I see a lot more Afghans in my near future. Picture update coming soon.
A few of you will know what this one is.
This started with a cross I made about 2 years ago. I found a black pepper pheno of black domina that I really loved. At the time, I was also screwing with reversing a clone of Dakini Kush (pre98 Bubba Kush x Afghani Kush), and it was the only pollen I had. Two good crosses came of that. One I called “BlackDak”, which is what I’ll be growing here.
Later, I crossed BlackDak with Cherry Queen, PTK and USC Black Afghani. I’ve grown the cross with Black Afghani, and it was amazing… but suffered the intersex problems that the Black Afghani emits. Other people have grown the other crosses. I think Cherry Queen has been the most successful of the outcrosses.
So it goes… both Dakini crosses turned out really excellent. The BlackDak I loved, because half the phenos come out on the Black Domina side, but with more intense resin from the DK side. An absolute unit Afghan powerhouse genetics, with fragrant, attractive terpenes. During growth, BlackDak (black pepper) gives off a lot of black pepper smell. Later, into cure, transforms into something a little more grapey, and intermittently black pepper again. I didn’t get a ton of fem seeds from it, so I’ve been keeping them back until I could do this project.
I also sent out a few packs of the pure BlackDak fems. @man-bot received some and he crossed it to 88g13hp. Terrific, I thought! BlackDak’s a bit leggy in a ridiculously apically dominant way, and the 88g13hp is the perfect outcross parner to pull her in. So he kindly sent me back some seeds from a black pepper pheno BlackDak.
A collaboration was borne, and now we’re in business to make some regs…
So now, I’m soaking some of @man-bot 's BlackDak (black pepper) x 88G13HP. I’ll be looking for males – and possibly using multiples so I don’t miss the black pepper pheno on the dad’s side. On the female side, I’ll be hunting for a black pepper pheno of BlackDak. So the result will be an incross of BlackDak (black pepper) x (BlackDak (black pepper) x 88G13HP). A bunch of the big names are in here, but most strongly featuring the nose of the black pepper pheno Black Domina.

I’m calling it Black Pepper Hashplant, because that is my goal for the BlackDak line from here out. In the future, I will inbreed this cross to find the most devastating black pepper pheno it has to offer. Let the games begin!

This girl is the great white hope of the Black Leb x Black Afghan. No nuts, no nanners yet. I ordered some Kandahar Black (Bodhi) x USC Black Afghani, so I’ll probably try remaking this cross using those. But this one could make some contributions to the line still. She’s developing very slowly, but otherwise seems to be coming out very well. The male was also good, so as long as she holds on and seems pretty good, I think I’ll keep the seeds and try the F2s still.
On the right we have several BlackDaks (all fem). I have 3 more, but 1 of them curled in a loop, and I don’t think it’s going to do well… At least 1 more will pop up yet.
On the left we have BlackDak x 88G13HP, courtesy of @man-bot. They jumped to life pretty quickly and were ready to rock.
