Anti-Insomnia Strains

No I haven’t run any yet but will this summer. They look like one of the best Orange Grove crosses I’ve seen yet. He did a great selection on the Orange Grove mother with that stretch pheno that shows up in there time to time.

When I first started smoking Donkey Butter was a great insomnia killer for me but now in year 5 of smoking steady I’m finding no strains I’ve gotten my hands on have been able to help!!

That will be exciting and they really do look great! I’d like to see them next to the NLxOG…I might pop a couple of those tonight the more I talk about them… You wouldn’t happen to have any pics of the NLxOG?

I’m crossing the OG to Maui Mango Haze…should make for some unique plants. I’ll be sure to send some beans when they are available! :yum:

I’m 3 years late but do these still exist in some way???

Hi Guys,

I recently grew @floyd’s Orange Grove x GG4 RIL and after a slow dry and cure it is at the very top of my Favorites List.

Easy to grow, nice structure needed little training and very nice yield. Some of the frostiest weed I’ve grown, and the high was really special!

Yea !! guess the right strain will work BUT if you make cannabutter cookies - eat a few 1/2 hr before bed time - this really works better at least for me instead of smoking - a little extra work but worth it in the end

It’s definitely right up there on my list. I had zero issues with her and the smoke is fine. lol
The fact that she was so purdy was a bonus. lol
Edit: I meant fine! lol
As in “Ain’t she fine”.

My goto is PineTarKush taken to November and placed in a jar on west facing window sill for a few months so the THC converts to CBN. I mix a small pinch into a bowlful of whatever indica i have around right before bedtime. Puts me out and keeps me out.

Have you tried running indoors to go full amber and then a cure?

I’ve run the PTK indoors and outdoors. I prefer the outdoors. Tom Hill recommends taking them to October 10th. I took it until November 10th. The trichomes were almost all amber. Then dried and cured it. Then it goes on the window sill. I burp the jar on a weekly basis to ensure an air exchange and the solar radiation does the rest.

That;s interesting. Have you tried CBN tinctures?

No, I haven’t. None of the dispensaries where I live carry anything with CBN.

You can get CBN tinctures all over the web because theyre usually hemp based. There are others at dispensaries with THC in them or THC+CBD/CBG also. Might be worth checking out so then you wouldnt have to completely degrade a crop to get similar effect.

This knocked me out somehow and it had no CBN.

I would be interested in the differences between different tinctures of combinations with or without CBN vs your pine tar kush method.

I’m afraid to use cannabis for insomnia, does it really help cure or just dulls the problem?

That’s a very good question but is complex to answer. Insomnia is caused by a great range of conditions, many of which are best treated by medications other than cannabis, and/or by a lifestlye change, or therapy. It can be a side effect of another underlying illness or be a stand alone disease in itself.

For me, I’ve tried every formal medication in the book. Been through the psychiatrists, and a range of unsure diagnoses. Some made me very sick both physically and mentally. The best sleep specialist I had seen told me that the only option would long-term benzodiazepene treatment. He refused to give them to me (said they would slowly kill me) without being sent for a second evaluation at a particular hospital renowned for their sleep studies. He was an excellent doctor who pointed out many parallels I came to find with other insomnia suffers on here.
My insurance wouldn’t cover it and in all honesty, I trusted his judgment.

I began growing and experimenting with cannabis. It saved my life.

What I’m trying to get at is that it effects everyone completely different and the only way to know is to try. Some people it will make an absolute difference with, others react badly and shouldn’t use it at all. Fortunately, we’re at a time and place where its research and medical use are finally starting to be celebrated instead of demonized and we can also begin to have a proper medical understanding, with guided use from a legitimate doctor.

If it’s legal where you live I would advise seeking one as I did, if not the only way to know is to self medicate and find out. Prohibition is a nightmare.
