Speaking of insomnia…anybody up?

Hibernate helps me with that. Does not work 100% of the time for me but it’s an improvement.

Nice! Thanks for the suggestion. Who’s the breeder?

They were made by Greenpoint Seeds but they were discontinued. There was a seed run here to preserve them a while ago.

It’ll be a while before I qualify for that program tho.
Thanks Again! Appreciate the input.

I see Dynasty has some Oregon Huckleberry crosses. Might be something to look in to.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any favorite cultivar/clone onlys that they really like for the anti-sandman? The JW GG#4 cut is one I’ve been interested in for awhile.

Personally, I find edibles to be way more effective than smoking. I’ve been toking as of recent cause I’m short on herb (last seasons grow got ripped) and I have to ration. Been really struggling with staying asleep at the same time consistently, as well as waking up throughout the night. Still better than nothing and suffering days of brutal sleeplessness.

A friend made up a batch of green dragon wasn’t impressed the slightest.
Too bad I’m in the same predictatament sleep deprivation.

It seems cannabis helps those who have occasional insomnia but for those of us with more chronic issues? Well the chronic ain’t so good. IME anything that works is because either smoked A LOT of it or it was a brand new strain, or sometimes I just can’t decide if it’s the cannabis or the RX, you know? I found abstaining 1-3 hrs before bed actually the most helpful.

I’m scared of edibles. Don’t know how to dose and don’t like not knowing when it stops getting stronger. Tincture is better as it goes faster.

I recently had some tincture that has been in the freezer for like a year. I let it sit with citric acid for a few days and then took 1ml. Knocked me right into sleep for an hour or two in the afternoon.

It’s only helpful if I can reproduce it according to my needs. Haven’t tried again yet. At that time it was rather unexpected.

Insomnia for me is certainly chronic. There is no one size fits all for treatment. Insomnia can be caused by a wide range of health conditions and can also be it’s own stand-alone disorder. Diagnosing can be lengthy and treatment can often seem like an enigma. For some, pot will make it worse by increasing anxiety and possibly exacerbating the underlying health condition causing it. This is what makes treating it so difficult and incredibly frustrating for the person suffering from it.

Unless you suffer from it yourself or are close to someone who is, it’s hard to understand. There are few support groups for it, they don’t make magnetic ribbons to put on your car in support of it. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to explain it to people and have been met with a smug response like “you’re just not exercising enough, try yoga.” Or “you need to be more self-disciplined and get to bed early.” That would be like telling someone having an asthma attack that they need to just breathe, there’s plenty of air.

Statistically, people in the first 2 years of living with it are at the highest risk for suicide. They haven’t learned coping skills or found what may give them relief and can’t imagine spending the rest of their lives living with it. Some who have found benzodiazepines to somewhat work are constantly having to switch between them, up dosages, or take different cocktails of them.

The side effects can be terrifying… One extreme case was that a women in my support group blacked out and tried to stab her husband and kids. The husband managed to get her under control and there was a lengthy investigation by child protective services. Another person went out for a drive, totalled their car, and woke up in jail having no recollection of the whole thing. There’s this funny drawing series called “Ambien Walrus” about the crazy things these pills make people do. But for some, they would potentially die without them.

I’m incredibly fortunate because cannabis is what works for me. Despite the legal and social hurdles, I would choose this miracle plant over a pill anyday (or night.) The worst that happens is that I launch a full-on assualt on the fridge and my girl nags that I ate all the food and drank the milk that was meant for coffee. I created this thread not to offer a cure-all snake oil, but for people who have found cannabis as their solution to collectively share knowledge (and seeds/cultivars) that might make dealing with insomnia a bit easier. Not to mention being able to talk with others in their position without feeling like a black sheep.

You need to just go with a pure indica, and now here’s the most important part, you let it go until it’s about 2 weeks past it’s normal flowering time. That will put you into La La land …

Yep, 50-75% amber, but too much and you get the hung over effect, maybe even some body aches from it.

Agreed. Too much CBN makes you feel like total shit. Some CBD in there along with higher THC helps. Probably wouldn’t go past 50% amber though. I haven’t been able to have what works well for me tested in a lab yet but I would guess it is in the ranges of 0.5-1% CBN, 1-3% CBD, and 18-25% THCa. I’m sure there are other cannabinoids at play too.

Not entirely true, hybrids can be good too and not all “pure indicas” are effective.

One of my next grows will for sure be an over-ripe indica. Had to grow the daytime stuff first since I use it more. Will have to pick a good one from this long list.
