Any original OG members back?

Thanks for the heads up Dale :grinning: I was just getting ready to hit a pop up this weekend. Gonna take your advice and avoid it now. I just got a grow tent with everything included including nutes, meter, fan, lights (the works) from a guy that was part of a huge yard sale type deal on the side of the road. Dude said he had been there all day and sold it to me at a steal for $100.00 because he didn’t want to pack it all back up. It’s dusty as hell, and I’ll have to clean it real good, then find some good seeds or clones and I’ll be back to growing my own. Thanks again for the heads up man. Hell I was mainly going to see if I could find someone who had cheap clones or seeds for sale (moneys tight right now, Normally I’d not buy seeds/clones form someone I didn’t) But I did hear they had pretty decent stuff for sale. Still after your warning and being on probation that’s now going to be a hard pass for me. And hey man keep trying to grow even if you think you are bad. Everyone is bad at the start. My first three grows sucked, then the forth got decent, and just got better and better. Just keep at it homie :grinning:

High Growmies! Yup, I was there in the ‘Good Ol’ Days’ of OG. I discovered OG while I was helping a buddy with his closet grow. We overcame a lot of challenges with the info from the growers of OG.

I found an old printout of cobaltrod’s DIY carbon filter from the old GrowFAQ when I was looking for an idea for odor control.

Our version:

I can’t believe it’s been 18 years, I feel so old!

Welcome back! That is so funny, I have/had cobaltrods tutorial in my hard drive from 2 computers ago, if I can still find it!! I made ( for other folks) so many of them, until I could afford the real deal filter.
I was mostly in small box grows, or after building a Krusty Bucket System, I hung in there, until the long night started.

Well, after 20 years in the shadows and many law changes - I’m back as well.
Took some breaks, made a family, had some kids.
But,.the state of the worlds genetics pulled me back in about 7 years ago.
I decided that I should go back in time genetically and take all the “roads not taken” and try to create new lines and offer them up for free as gratitude for what this particular hobby has done for me
REALLY cool seeing some of the old names in here though - puts a smile on my face for sure.
Had many, MANY proteges that have gone on to live real lives because they got to learn “how to fish” and it’s been really fulfilling to watch .
Though I’m back to being a nobody, lost to time here, it’s still nice to be back.
I don’t grow or breed for profit - but if anybody is into genetics and the like, I’m always down to talk shop
Best wishes and happy growing !

That is one hell of a nice list of genetics. A nice assortment of Mandala beans very cool. Are you going to start up a grow thread ? Like to see what you have coming up.

Well, I’ve just been digging through things in search of specific flavors primarily. Currently, I’m moving cross country to Oregon, so it’s hard to say if I’ll be taking a break from it for a year - or possibly being allowed to continue the project in somebody else’s garden.

Very nice… moving to the PNW, just did that cross country move from Florida to the Seattle area. Best decision I have ever made. Hope it all works out for you. Keep in touch here let me know if you need anything @Buddhachronic

Wow this is too cool…i was a member on the original og when i was like 11 or so(yeah i lied about being 18😱) and because i was such a rookie at the time im sure im not remembered for contributing much grow knowledge but i do recognize so many of you guys who helped me go from a bagseed in a solo cup on my windowsill to cfl name strain stealthgrows with computer fan ventilation hidden inside double walled speakers to minimize light leak because i had nosy “roommates”(parents). I spent endless hours soaking up as much info as possible which allowed me to eventually participate in the 2008 MI prop 1 medical campaign as one of the public spokespeople to the media and giving lectures on the therapeutic benefits and pharmacology with Dr. Crocker, matt witemyre of the MPP which allowed me to meet and smoke with all my idols from NORML and High Times. So all in all at the end of the day basically in a complete final summarized conclusion the main point im trying to convey as the bottom line and closing remark is: THANK YOU ALL YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SO MANY OF MY CHERISHED MEMORIES AND EXPERIENCES. Love you all!

What happened to the ‘Original’ OG forum?

In 2012 I was on a European Forum called ‘Hennepdesk’- but they had very few members at a time- and if you weren’t constantly updating with grows and pics, the owner of the site kicked you off.

He and the members were very knowledgeable, and I was very grateful to the owner for advising me to buy Ph and EC meters.
It was sad to be kicked off, as the owner said ‘‘Only a very few will make it’’…But then when I google searched it, there was nothing to be found on it at all.

The owner was on Twitter, but no longer active under his nickname.

I did wonder if forums {especially in places where it isn’t legal to grow weed} could get shut down?

I received a badge for being an ‘‘Oldskool Member’’ when I am not. I was just replying to a genuine Oldskool member.

Hey Oakapple, IF I’m not mistaken, on Sannies OpenGrow, sometime, I do remember guys from that site, talking about it being gone.
Santero would know far more than I do.
Open Grow, seemed to have a lot of folks from that site.
Oh yeah, so many sites are gone now, one went dark, as I was typing out a reply once, DDoc Barrel of Green, site.
Then a few years later on, I got an invite from Jeffman, from The Blazing Pistileros, breeder group to The Thricome Kings, a private breeder collective.
I sent a message, and instantly got a PM that side, all are fine, server safe, but we are compromised, see ya! What a giggle!! BOOM gone!
A great site from Australia, also yep sploody headed and gone. Heather Bud got arrested, but never head a peep afterwards.
I was wandering through UK420 the other day, as saw your handle.
I was wearing my Clark Kent glasses over there, however.
I lurk there seeking the table scraps of growing info, as the ones running Celia bx1 are killing it, and I’m just doing ok with her. Never slowed me down, not being the best, I’ll get there.
Cool, OldSkool badge!! Very cool, mods felt sorry for you, when they saw my handle was being hailed!! Just good ole JoeKing showing up.
Good to see your still running about the place, it is really full of great folks, and me, LOL!

That’s so interesting re sites being closed down…and even while you were typing?!

In late 1990’s, there was a self ~published book called ‘‘Tricameral sensimilla’’ about how to do a small perpetual grow indoors, only available to order from the author.

Thank goodness I didn’t have a computer then, so didn’t know about it.

The Author had stupidly kept the names and addresses of everyone who had bought his book online and they all got busted. It shows how harsh it was back then, people getting their doors kicked in for a few plants.
It was in the press and TV and the press were saying in shock horror ‘‘Even teachers were buying this book and growing’’

A cannabis magazine ‘‘Red Eye Express’’ also got busted, {1990’s} but continued.

High Times has been going for absolutely ever- I used to love that magazine- Especially the ‘‘Cannabis Cup’’ editions. Haven’;t bought it for years though.

‘‘Ask Ed’’ - is he still going?

Re ‘Celia’…I have seen the seed name mentioned- Plants definitely have their individual quirks- some are greedy, others don’t like high EC, some need cozy warmth, others like it a little cooler- so many variables…It would be wonderful if a breeder could say exactly what the plant ‘preferred’ as far as EC/temps and training goes.

I have been researching LED’s and one of the makers I was considering {as local shop only sells those, Maxibright } UK420 members said people had had terrible experiences with that brand so that has saved a lot of hassle.

Another brand Invisible Sun someone else said it was terrible customer service and faulty lamps- so won’t go there, either {British company}

Seems there are fake lamps out here as well[?!] Fake HLG’s…

Forums can be really useful like this.

That’s great to know…Thanks.

No my handle was Kolaking on those old forums.I don’t remember lots of the names either except for the handful I bartered with. Unfortunately a lot of those years were foggy also because of the meds I got dependent on after a back surgery.
