Banquos Basement

Can’t wait to see you get these going! I’ve seen more than a couple Orange Bubblegum plants get really bushy, like, as wide as they are tall, bushy. And Twisted Cookies is always a hit with pretty much everyone that runs it. One of my trade buddies ran a Twisted Cookies in a 1 gallon Air Pot and saw over 200 grams of really dense, frosty buds. She was super happy with it, and says the smoke is top shelf.

If you decide to make a thread here on OG when you pop either or both of those, and if you think of it, feel free to @ me on your thread. I’d love to follow along and see how they do for you :slightly_smiling_face:

@hollyho this is a male part, on an autoflower, about 24 hours after it appeared. This is, in my experience, what most male bits look like really early on. To me they kinda look like little whole garlic cloves, or a small onion. If it stays round like this after the first 24-48 hours, again in my experience, it’s a boy.

I have another that I believe to be female, but could not manage a picture that looked even close to the one above. The tiny little calyx, or what I believe to be a calyx, isn’t even distinguishable from the little branch starting in the same node, in the picture. I’ll take a look at her again tonight and maybe see if I can get a picture worth looking at.

I could be wrong and this plant might be female. It’s fairly safe to say though, with autos at least, that if there aren’t pistils sticking out of the newly formed sex-parts within 48 or so hours, it’s probably a male. Photos are a tad bit slower, obviously, so it’s best to give them a week or so after flip to start checking

Awesome!! For my first good sexing  I’ll probably take some pics and see what u guys think  After the first time I’ll feel more comfortable on my own. Hopefully  it usually only takes one time riding with training wheels then I’m off. My bubba kush popped and came thru the soil and 3 of them are acting weird. Same coco, same everything… but those 3 have dying cotyledons. So I’m dealing w that right now. They’re regs. The teeny tiny little serrated “leaves” in the middle are green and healthy looking. I just don’t understand :joy:

Thanks for this, was going to dig up this info.

Looking forward to running some pentagrams that arrived yesterday after seeing some of the buds! Thanks brother, much appreciated. It’s been a nutty week, but have something heading your way tomorrow!

29, but feel free to count them if you want

Top left is 11x Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze F2s, top right is 6x Bubba Kush of unknown provenance, bottom left is 11x auto Mazar x 9# Hammer F1s bred by a buddy of mine in Oklahoma, and bottom right is a single feminized Wedding Cake from Pev Seeds. Not sure if it’s auto or photo. Received it in trade from someone who won it in a contest sponsored by Pev, on Grow Diaries. Sooooo I guess we’ll have to find out together!

Gonna be doing some crossing with these, making seeds and next filial generations with each, except probably the Wedding Cake. I’ll probably just let that do its thing and run it for smoke, unless it’s a total stunner. Could go either way I guess

The SSSDH sounds excellent, I might be lurking around in a few months with my hand out for seeds. :stuck_out_tongue: It’ll be interesting to see how these grow if they’re really F2s, apparently there’s also an IBL version of it floating around.

I’ve wondered if it’s an F2 of the existing SSSDH, or if it’s Super Silver Haze x Sour Diesel F2 by an OGer. Maybe I’ll hit the search bar and dig around. I traded for these, but the were from a Sebring drop in 2021, so I’m almost certain they originated here on OG. I’ll be posting some pics around the various OG strain threads. Maybe the creator will drop a like or two :man_shrugging:

If it’s from the OG run, it’s a repro of https://www.seedbay.com/product/sssdh-ix1-regs/ - SSSDH is itself something like a backcross, the OJD cut of Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze bred with a pack of F1 Super Silver Sour Haze. IX1 means the first incross generation, and can be a backcross or filial generation. I think it was filial in this case. So what you’ve got are something like 3 generations inbred from the F1s, probably? Not 100% sure, but something like that. 2-4 generations, let’s say.

I’m just gonna say wow, and be impressed with the homework you did. It sounds like some work was put in, and with care in the selections, so it’s a privilege to run them and hopefully make more

I think I found the thread for the run I’ve got seeds from. It was done by an OGer that goes by the name Swe-Can, again if it’s the same person that supplied Sebring with what he offered on the site. I read through all 397 (I think) posts to that thread, and holy dang do I feel privileged to even have the opportunity to grow these out. What a journey they’ve been through. Not to mention the ups and downs the grower experienced during the seed run.

That being said, time for a quick update on said Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze F2s, and some other seeds. Of the 29 seeds I started soaking on Monday, 23 are now in their solo cups. Only the 6 Bubba Kush seeds have to spend some time in wet paper towel, as only 2/6 have cracked. I’ll check them again this evening and every 12-ish hours after. I want to get them into their cups as soon as they crack and show a little tail.

I’ll be watering the 3 Space Wiz F2s later this morning and I’ll take some pics to post. I promise.

I’m having some trouble out of my bubba kush also lol maybe they’re just stubborn :woman_shrugging::joy:

Some seeds and pollen from the growmie @VAkish. He for sure said 1 vial is Purple Poison Cookies, and the other 2 are Chem crosses that he’s gotta send me the info for because I can’t remember all the strains. Then the bigger pack is some super unique pollen that I feel incredibly fortunate to have, and the reason I started almost 30 photo seeds the other day. The package even showed up a couple days early!

Edit: Yes, that’s a Red Dead Redemption 2 guide book, and yes, I’m still ONLY on chapter 4. I can’t bare the thought of a really sick Arthur Morgan, okay. :weary:

This was yesterday morning, as of last night 3 more had sprouted, plus a couple more had good bumps starting. So hopefully when the light goes on and I can get in there I’ll find a few more standing up that can go in to the tent.

Score board so far

1/1 Wedding Cake

8/11 Auto Mazar x 9# Hammer F1

6/11 Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze F2

0/6 Bubba Kush

I really hope a couple of the Bubba Kush are up this morning. I want at least 1 of those 6 to do really well.

Still holding strong at 0/6 Bubba Kush. I mined down in to one of the cups yesterday, and they are active, they just aren’t moving vertically. The cotyledons are there and the seed hull is off, but it’s still sitting about 1/2" below the surface. I’ve got the heat mat under them and I’ll give them at least 48 more hours before I give up. I don’t want to have to help them to the surface, but I’m dang sure gonna try before I trash them.

Everyone else is standing tall, maybe a little too tall. I forgot to crank the dial to 100% on the light, so they spent their first 36 or so hours at 50%, and have stretched accordingly. Sallright. At least now they’ll be easier to water without splashing on the bottom leaves.

18/28 made it, and not one of them is Bubba Kush. Such a bummer, but oh well. I’ve got plenty of work ahead of me just doing these seed runs, so maybe it’s for the best I’m working with a smaller number of plants. Speaking of which, I can’t wait to find my parent plants and announce the seed run for the SSSDH F3s. Like officially announce it, not just talk about it here to y’all.

I’m so stoked to have these beans! Big thank you to OG Chronix for the super early morning giveaway last week! Finally, finally, FINALLY got my hands on some Johnny PotSeed gear, and I gotta tell you, I’m so excited to run all 3 of these. Alien OG is one of my all time favorites, so that NL5 crossed to Alien OG, and the AOG F2s are both on the short list and will likely get popped with the next round.

Because…

I’m switching to photos for awhile. I’ll still be running autos at all times, but they won’t be the bulk of my crop for the next year or two. I’ve had, and have, some really amazing photoperiod stuff fall into my collection over the past couple months, so I’d like to get into them and see what I can find. Between the fire beans that VAkish sent me, and these amazing JPS beans, I’ll be lucky not to need a fire extinguisher next to my tents. :fire::fire_extinguisher:

I went to a different hydro store than the shop I usually go to, looking for a decent organic super soil. That’s right y’all, I’m going back to organic growing. I started with it, and know now that I shoulda stayed with it. It’s so hard to source anything decent for growing where I live, especially things mostly used for growing cannabis. I have yet to meet an old gardener around here that can even pronounce the word “mycorrhizae”, let alone know that a soil food web has nothing at all to do with spiders. Seriously, I had that conversation with the old guy working the garden section at Menards last spring.

So I found what I hope is a good “water only” super soil. It’s called Great Lakes Water Only by Detroit Nutrient Company, or something like that. It’s more nutrient dense than some other OSS, (I’m looking right at you, Michigan Made Mix, aka M3 :face_with_raised_eyebrow:) which was the biggest issue I had when using M3 in the past. I’m thinking it should hold up for all but the longest flowering cultivars if I transplant into the OSS and flip right away. If I don’t burn up half the available nutrients by vegging in the soil for 3-4 weeks, I shouldn’t need to add too much in the way of top dresses. Which I did pick up, just in case. It’s called Pride Lands and its NPK ratio is 2-5.5-5.5. It’s not a soluble nutrient, so I’ll need to scratch it in, no biggie.

I also picked up some cloning supplies, and ordered a tray + T5 light which should arrive Monday. Since I’m switching back to OSS I grabbed a bag of Root Riot plugs. I’ve never used them, but I’ve seen TONS of people talk about how they have good success using them, so I feel confident with them. I also got a small jar of CloneX gel, and a bottle of clone/seedling liquid nutrients. So hopefully I’m set up right for a good time with these photo strains. I’m gonna practice cloning with this auto Northern Lights that I’ve got going, just to see if I can do it and to be able to say I successfully cloned an autoflower. That feels like an achievement, to me, and I’d feel like shit if I moved on from autos without getting it done. Plus it’d be nice to have a little extra NL bud when all is said and done.

Okay, wow. That was a long one. I overslept this morning and didn’t get outta bed til almost 6:00, so my brain still hasn’t settled down from the rush of WTFs that hit me when I realized how late I slept. Shit happens, I guess 🤷

That’s awesome! Definitely a lot of cool stuff going on. I’ll talk to you soon. Having a few cold beers and some Pentagram before putting steaks on the grill

Auto Northern Lights cloning attempt. I got antsy sitting on those Root Riot plugs and CloneX gel. I know, I know. That rig I’ve got her in isn’t good. But it’s what I’ve got for the next few hours. I ordered a tray, dome, and T5 light and they’re set to arrive today. I’ll get her in there and she’ll be fine. Hopefully she roots and slows her internal autoflower clock enough to do a little growing before she moves to flower. The main plant only has a couple of visible calyx, so it should be the perfect timing.

The little ones in the solo cups are quickly moving right along. I’ll need to fill their 1 gallon pots in the next day or so, then get them all up-potted by the weekend. I’d love to be able to flip them next weekend, but that’s probably a long shot. I’ll figure it out after I talk to them tomorrow while watering them. I couldn’t find any clear cups, so I’m not able to lift them out and look for root shoots.

I want the Wedding Cake fem seed I started to be photoperiod, really badly. I have this feeling that it’s gonna autoflower though, so I’ll be watching it over the next few days to see if anything looks different than everything else in with her. All I can do is wait, but I don’t want to wait too long before I flip the other plants ‍:dizzy:

So.

Much.

Chaos.

Some Space Wiz F2 action for anyone wondering WTF this strain might look like. I let the ProMix get too dry a couple weeks ago and she’s got some light colored leaves because of it. I think she’s on the rebound, and I’ll try not to let it dry out so much again. She’s the only Space Wiz left standing right now, so I wanna help her do well. It’ll be nice to finally smoke some of this whole flower and not just resin. :hugs:

Edit: I forget where she’s at for day count, but I’ll do the work and dig back through my posts to get an idea how old she is

Edit 2: She is 31-32 days old today. I went back and found a comment from Jan. 29 where I said all 3 of them were up and running. So I feel safe saying they’d sprouted sometime in the 48 hours prior to that comment
