Sometimes you meet someone special… and you just know there is something beyond the everyday with this one.
Well I found her last spring - searching through some f2’s.
The cross was a poly hybrid that I had chucked. I knew something was special after searching through the grandparents a couple seasons ago - so I continued the pursuit.
(Sorbetto x Tux) x Violetta
I had let a few packs escape early on in the work - some of the f2’s I found the ‘Blackout Lemonaid’ pheno I had released under (pink lemonaid) - the mom in the F1’s was a good dumper with loud pink lemonaid terps that came through very strong in the smoke. An absolute unicorn I figured - so I needed to dig deeper.
If you recognize this photo - its because I posted a photo on another public website and it went fairly viral.
Unlike her mother - she had added gas. And potency to boot. Nice and loud gas with undeniable Pink Lemonaid flavour - and it is consistent through the line. The bag appeal isn’t too bad either.
That season I ran a room full of plants many cultivars - many of my own crosses - the only quality keepers were in the BOLA (blackout Lemonaid) and there were several out of 12 plants that stood out of a very full room:
Here is her sister - I made f3 beans with her - but she did not reveg successfully:
I hold her as a bonsai now - setting up to do a full room flower only run - because she’s absolutely gas. In the days of HPS and word of mouth transactions - legends were created when bags were sought after. Well I’m almost certain she’s something that could become bigger than just a plant in my closet.
But this isn’t why I’m starting an entire thread - this is instead a learning journey through its lineage.
Running various stages of it’s family tree now - have about 30 plants. Seeds from the original F1’s a few different variations. I will get into introducing each group of plants as they grow - they are currently just a bunch of seedlings right now.
Gassy pink lemonade sounds AMAZE. Definitely sounds like something that a lot of people would want to have access to. Best of luck on this journey, will be watching for sure
This does sound very interesting. The flower structure on that first photo is incredible, really beautiful. You have some amazing plants there my friend. I love to see them and learn about them too. Thank you for sharing with us all.
@PsillyRabbit cuts… would be a good backup - at this time I’m holding her close. I may pass her around in the near future.
Hadn’t really thought about selfing her - at least not yet. Am rolling out with a bit of a plan now. I can share some deets - I’ll try to keep it streamlined for readability.
I think Id reverse her but use him/her on her own progeny - which I’m working thoroughly now.
Late summer, in the swamp, I popped ten f3 plants created with the purple mother in the photo above, we will call her ‘Lost BOLO’ . I popped these with the intention to find a male and make seeds with the keeper pheno, let’s call her A1 BOLO. When I first ran A1 beside her 11 sisters - I only dabbed the most colorful plants with pollen… So I skipped the A1 BOLO… it set me behind a bit for a BX. I didn’t realize shed come a swinging by late flower.
But, to my benefit Ill be setting up for a BX using a f3 male from my second favorite f2 , the ‘Lost BOLO’. Here are the two males about to hit the flower room - one short one tall - left in small pots.
The f3 sisters who showed up as ladies… well they are all growing very similar - been in the flower room about a week. 7 remain - Hoping to get a good feel for this lot - and will likely dab a few of them as well. But I will likely just let them flower unbothered. Here they are.
In the red bin you can see two cuttings of A1 that will run for seed - the males pictured above will leave the veg room in a few days and begin flower to catch up to these cuttings. That seed will be used to hunt the next male to do it again.
Beside this - I’m setting up to run one 5 x 5 with twelve A1 BOLO - why is this significant? Reason being I have not done a flower only run since 2003/2004. I never looked back at running lbs once I started chucking pollen as a past time. Times change. But like I said - this one - she’s special and I’ll take the time to work her a bit here and see what doors she’ wants to open.
@Goyum - took a peek at that Pink Lemonaid by M (@splinter7 this is the one you tried? I’ve only ever shared BOLA flower with 2 individuals)-- other than the name - seems it’s got a very different background. pink 2.0 and Lemon G a clone only. pink 2.0 has a bunch of alien genetics and Tahoe OG as a back bone. Sounds like a banger - but not close relative to this ‘Blackout Lemonade’
Tracked down some photos for Blackout Lemonaids family tree.
We will start with my personal favorite contributor a cross created by aficionado estates - I recieved one S1 seeds years ago from this plant of Sorbetto -
That one seed I grew out and selfed. Up until recently I had a few seeds still left - I tried cracking them with this family tree run… but they did not pop. I will give a break down of the plants I’m running related to the project soon. They are still small seedlings.
Tux is a cross made by @lefthandseeds - I’m sure if he reads this he will have a good chuckle… because he warned me about this line when he gifted me some seeds. Intersex traits may rear their heads. The plants I had the pleasure of running and crossing did not give me these traits - I have seen it in outcrosses.
Here she is in all her glory - this photo and plant is by lefthand - Black Lebanese x Black Afghan
These are the two cultivars I paired a couple years back which I have since brought to f3 - I have two irriterations of the f2 generation - one made outside and one made indoors - all these generations of seedlings are going now.
Idk. It was sold as pink lemonade and smelled like pink lemonade. it wasn’t purple iirc. it was a sativa leaning hybrid high. It was just a couple weeks ago too when i picked up a few grams to try. maybe a good chanced two or more strains are named that.
Yes that’s exactly right - way too many Pink Lemonaids - this is why I changed the name from Pink Lemonaid to Blackout Lemonaid .
Up until coining ‘blackout Lemonaid’ this spring, I wasn’t naming strains - most work the last five years have been titled and labeled with their contributing parents - this season I knew more peeps would be growing out the seeds made - so I’ve had some fun with giving them titles. With all the Pink Lemonaids out there - it was necessary to differentiate with ‘Blackout Lemonaid’ - fitting for its potency in the same stride.
The f2’s I was handing out - I had wrote the cross (Sorbetto x Tux) x Violetta, as well as ‘pink Lemonaid’ in quotations - I may have even wrote ‘pink Lemonaid terps’. when I did take this line more seriously - I needed a name. I never did think I would be pursuing it as far as I had - and that’ I blame 100% on the plants that have introduced themselves to me in this line.
