BODHI Clusterfunk and SSDD

Safers Sulphur Dust

Says its safe to use on all crops till 1 day before harvest on everything but grapes for making wine.its half way down the label where it says preharvest

Would definitely do a thorough 3 stage wash at harvest thought.Water and jug of h2o2 ,then water with baking soda and lemon or lime juice then a clean h2o wash

Don’t use sulfur in flower. This is a non-negotiable. It’s super toxic when smoked and you can’t wash it out of buds.

Yeah I agree… I wouldn’t use it passed the 1st or 2nd day of flip. may even be a tad late? After that though, nothing gets sprayed on em except for maybe a couple teas and LAB/FPJ to fight them Caterpillars outdoors

I am not promoting it Nube i just find it ironic that they claim its safe to use till the day before harvest on all crops…At the slightest hint of PM or mold in flower i dont mess around and trash it.Had enough lung issues in the past to last me a life time.

Especially if your blasting it or squishing it the sulphur will come through in the taste.

It’s “safe” to eat because produce/fruit gets washed, but it’s not safe to smoke. They don’t indicate its use for smoked crops like tobacco or weed. I think that’s the distinction being missed.

Well I hit them with that recipe last night. The lights must have just turned off before I got home. Again, since these are small clones that are in veg I am not too worried about light pollution messing with them. As usual, I raised the led as high as would go, dimmed it all the way down before turning it on. I needed at least enough light to see what Im doing. Set up like that, it is super dim in there. I ended up using the entire 32 oz bottle. I did as @nube said and shook it every few sprays, and also didnt let it run out. When I had about 4 oz left in the bottle I added a splash more water to finish the job. At that point I think I only had one or two more plants to do. I did need to clean the sprayer once in the middle of getting it done. Got clogged up good, looked like the soap and neem. Ive had this happen with other bronners and neem based sprays. I wiped the mess off the sprayers intake tube, then ran hot water in the sink and sprayed it through until it was working again. That spray has quite a powerful aroma ! My apartment reeked like cinnamon and peppermint last night. Thought it was christmas !

Yeah that will happen with any oil-based spray if you use it in cold weather. Try using warm-not-hot water to mix right before spraying. Should help.

I love the smell. My usual preventative mix is bronner’s peppermint soap, then organic rosemary, lavender, neem, and peppermint oils. Now my girlfriend looks forward to it every week. :dancer: lol

I was wondering about trying that. Thanks for the tip !

An apartment smelling like cinnamon/peppermint is great. At least it didn’t reek of neem. I actually don’t mind the smell of neem, but my girl despises it, which is why all of my foliars are done outside.

Hopefully this new regimen will take care of everything.

Yeah man @minitiger. Im always pretty overly optimistic, but I feel pretty good about the attack strategy so far. Been spraying the floor around the tent every time before opening and also I know wipe down the zippers and the flap that goes over the zipper. I always do the floor again after I close the tent. Bought some 99.9 Iso at the grow store a few weeks ago, gonna switch to that instead of the bleach since bleach really fucks with my sense of smell for a while. Not good for a somm. Gonna use the hour long dunk technique everytime I upplant clones, then hit them every other day with different sprays for most of veg. As long as I dont kill them I should be good. lol !

So I mixed up another batch of the recipe that nube posted. Still using rosemary, peppermint and cinnamon oils, along with neem, Dr Bronners peppermint and wettable sulphur. I used warm to hot water, but it still doesnt want to mix very well. I might try heating up the outside of the bottle before I use it tonight. After tonight I plan on hitting them again with the same mix on sunday, and then giving them a full week before any other sprays. Ive been wiping down the walls and other surfaces of the tent with diluted bleach spray every other day. Every sunday I take out all the trays and clean them out with soap and water, then wipe with bleach. I also scrub the floor with bleach once a week.

A few pics of the clones in my tent. All of these have been hit with nubes spray. There have been quite a few burnt leaves. Could be my fault somehow, maybe the stuff wasnt mixed right ? The plants in rockwool looked really bad, however I had not drained the tray out, so they were sitting in that spray for a couple of days before I realized it. Havent lost any yet, a couple of the males look pretty rough. Like I said in the previous post, I plan on hitting them again tonight. They show distinct broad/russet damage with the bent tips, but I feel like whatever mites survived the drowning must be getting there ass kicked by all these sprays and stuff. First one is the full tent shot.

Just the clones in rockwool

A couple shots of the ones planted in soil

About to head over to the “other” tent to water and stuff. Hopefully that last Clusterfunk has started to finally flower !

I was under the impression that you should not mix oils with sulfur.

I definitely wondered about that, but figured @nube knows what he is doing . Hopefully its not some special plant killing mix ! If so, someone please stop me before I spray them again tonight.
I just got back from the “other” tent and am really excited at how they look. All 3 are still entirely untreated and look great. The slower Clusterfunk pheno has stretched a bunch (now the tallest in garden) and has set flowers. The SSDD #3 pheno is moving along well and is really frosty. It doesnt have those claws like it did in the last pic. The other Clusterfunk pheno (#4) is a stocky beast. Its flowers are at a similar level of development as the SSDD but has less frost at this point. I will get more flower pics on Friday

If you’re having trouble mixing everything together, maybe put the bottle of neem in some warm water before mixing it up.

I did that before mixing it with the rest of the ingredients, doesnt make a difference when mixed, although it is impossible to use without heating up first. Just doesnt change what is happening with the rest of the mix. Anyway, I chickened out last night and didnt hit em. Was hoping to hear more opinions on the sulphur.

I would only apply the sulfur as needed to get rid of powdery mildew. If you aren’t slaying mildew, I wouldn’t use it.

I’m really sorry man, those plants don’t look good. I would stop whatever you’re doing right now.

They honestly look a lot like the last ones you treated with the previous eradication attempt in post #109 two weeks ago. I don’t know what’s going on, but here’s what it looks like when I’ve burnt mine with the same mix I recommended:

I thought all wettable sulfur was the same, but as @ReikoX and @Sunvalley indicated, maybe there are different recommendations based on different manufacturers? I dunno, but if so I’m super sorry! :frowning: You saw my label recommends using it with oil to reduce foaming, except on citrus. What do your label’s instructions say to do?

Thanks @nube. Not your fault, I could have looked into this stuff first. My Sulphur (HyYield) says not to use within 2 weeks of using a oil spray. Says 3 to 6 for citrus.
I disagree though, these clones dont look nearly as bad as those seed plants I killed in flower. Those things looked dead within 24 hours of the hot water dunk. These, look effected by the spray, but none are dead yet. Most have a fairly healthy look despite the spray killing a bunch of leaves.

I want to continue with the IPM, but am not sure how to proceed. Do I need to wait to spray them off with fresh water ? @nube recommended not rinsing off the mix until 1 month after the first application ?
Do I need to wait til the 2 weeks from when I used the mix with the sulphur to use a oil based spray ? Should I use the same recipe but without the sulphur ?

I am going to continue to use the sns 209 in my nute mix til its gone to see how it effects things. Thanks again !
