Bodhi Plant and seed guide (Part 2)

And for VA’s weather conditions also. Very cool!

I have heard that, but I doubt that’s it here, they’re in my freshly recycled soil with a ton of gypsum and bone meal, and definitely some Epsom salts and a bunch of ocean compost stuff. I also have given them a watering once a week with some BioThrive Grow 4-3-3, I don’t have liquid cal-mag around but I will give them some NftG liquid calcium and a little Epsom next watering and see if it has any effects. Can’t hurt with how hungry all these ones are, I’m figuring to pot up within the week to 2G Pro-Cals

Well then maybe it is a mutant… Gonna hope so as technically that hooked growth can also be a sign of TMV.

Quite a few of my SSDD F2s had some level of variegation going on which I assumed was from the Blue Moonshine but never considered it could be from the chem side of the app. Interesting. I’ve experimented with a lot of the mutated and variegated stuff from DJ around 08 and never saw an increase in potency, quality of effects or anything like that. Still have some Vanilluna F3s that are heavily mutated I think. The absence of chlorophyll in the variegated segments does look pretty cool at times and makes any anthocyanin presence more pronounced…

Yea man, I think I knew he was another VA head, but a good reminder that you boys got the best of em down there!

“VA don’t play” is the saying right?

Hey @CrunchBerries. Did you or @BeagleZ get a pack of the H&L Appy? I didn’t know it was bred for outdoor Va. If y’all find a good lady, keep me in mind! :kissing_heart: I got trades

If you or @Dirt_Wizard get any male Blue Tara’s I’d love to hit my SSDD F2 girl with the pollen and I’ll split the beans 50/50 with you… I have a pack each of the Blue Tara F2 and IX1 but not sure when I’ll get to them yet. Next up for me is hunting for a male in the rest of the SSDD F2’s in order to do a seed-run for SSDD F3’s.

I kinda forgot I had these…it’s only five… oh well why not… maybe I’ll find a good male to play with.

I honestly wonder if the obsession with mutants as indicators of something special is just a selective or confirmation bias thing where it’s easier to tell that a plant is different when it’s a freak than when it’s subtly distinct from its siblings. Stuff like what Tony was just saying about the SHN BOG seeds likely being poorly selected F2s because of what he’s seen working with the line and how it manifests branching, that’s something I wouldn’t notice per se, but I’d definitely see a mutant plant and be like oh that’s different and pay more attention to it. Whereas he sees the growth structure and branch pattern and knows that it’s from a full sib F2 because he’s tried it. If I was working with Sour Bubble I’d be seeing the mutants not that, because I’m a noob. Basically do we look for mutants thinking it’s potency we’re finding when actually we’re just following the path of least resistance/most obvious feedback by noticing macro differences more than micro? This is an honest question for all you older and more experienced growers and breeders here, as it’s way above my pay grade, just an observation on human behavior and logical fallacies in general.

I would think most of the time we look for the mutants and one-offs, aka Sports, as they’re obviously unique, and usually, the really recessive plant. A lot of the Elite’s are one-off sports or recessives, that also happen to be unusually potent. Throwbacks. Problem with recessives is, they don’t usually breed true for anything.

Brother Angel, I’m pretty likely to get a male from the three I have going, assuming it’s not the runt I’d be happy to try and let it go somewhere in the house under a light and gather some pollen, I haven’t tried it before and if you’ll put it to use I’m down to give it a whirl. Those Sterilite bin isolation chambers really interest me, I have a bolt of some high quality HEPA/MERV filter fabric for this kind of dust and pollen air filtering and some AC Infinity USB fans that could be the air circulation, I just have to figure out if I could fit it into my flower tent or if it would have to go somewhere else with its own light and timer for the month or so I’d keep it. I’ve got two packs of the SSDD BX1 already from the fundraiser so I’d be psyched to keep building a section of the seed vault with your work on that line and help out, it’s great that you’re sticking with the project.

The question of recessive genetic expressions and potency correlating is also a big question I have, it seems to be true anecdotally from many experienced breeders, I just don’t understand it well, if you have any good links to discussions about the subject I’d appreciate the leads. I have heard people talk about the problem with sports being that they are often so powerfully expressing things like potency that their structure or vigor suffers, and that some even choke themselves out with resin eventually, I think I’ve heard both @Baudelaire and @arb talking about that with the Princess cut and the G13, respectively (if my memory serves right after a couple bowls today of C99 and too much coffee).
