Budderton Beans' Glitter Trike "Kush Trials"

Nice @RookieBuds ! Looking good and kushie over there! Yeah, most of the TK S1s I used as mothers had a good amount of post flip stretch, which is what you’d expect. The Biker kush where very similar to the TK and pure OG x TK, only a little shorter and more stout . Perhaps the small Trike is a throw back to the stouter Biker kush . They are looking much healthier then I’m able to keep these old og kush types, so good on you man! I hope they reward you with some nice hand grenades of kuskie goodness!

Changed my mind on nutrients & went and got these today

Using up the rest of my GH silica then I’ll scoop some Silica Blast. Excited to try these!

Both Glitter Trikes, day 19 flower. Did another hefty defoliation & removed most branches that didn’t reach the canopy. Swear to god my fingers smell like ketchup right now which is totally weird :man_shrugging:t2:

This was their last GH Flora Nova flower feed. Using Botanicare from here on out

Ketchup eh @RookieBuds ? Weird. They look like they’re gonna be the classic floppy, nugs on a vine, OG kush type.
Best of luck with the Botanicare, I used it for years and loved the results but got fed up with the 2 or 3 $80 bottles every couple of months. Switched to Mega Crop 2 part a couple yrs ago ( two 25 lb bags for around $60 each I think) and though saving a ton of $ , I’ve never been able to get as good of a result as when using the pure blend. The plants live it and it make them taste so good.

Yeah it was weird, I’m not calling these “ketchupy” by any means but it was the smell I got off my clean gloved hands. I really think they’re gona have that traditional Kush funk, quite frankly.

I’ve been cheaping out on General Hydroponics (so to speak, some of the additives like Floralicious Plus are pricey) for a couple years. I just want to know if it’s worth the extra cost and higher usage rate, the Grow and Bloom require about 15ml versus the typical 5ml of Flora Nova i might use. Did my first mix of the Botanicares today and they kinda remind me of the Athena products I’ve previously used. Hopefully they’ll be better, I wasn’t disappointed with the Athenas but IMO they weren’t worth the added cost (aside from Cleanse, I love that stuff) so I went back to GH. We’ll see how these go.

Do research on expensive additives, a lot of the time there’s a cheaper method or option if you understand the effect or nutrient delivery

I draw a line sometimes between cheap and convenient; my absolute main priority with my grow is to be as cost efficient as possible while also maintaining or exceeding a quality of product that pleases me and my wife as consumers. Example; I don’t really desire using dry mixes because I don’t want to have to deal with dilutions. Pre-mixed bottles are nearly instantly soluble as long as I stay within the rules of stuff like “silica always first, calmag always 2nd if used” to avoid any reactions in mixing. I also, ideally, don’t like my mixes sitting for more than 24 hrs since I don’t aerate or circulate my mixes.

The aromas are starting to develop, the taller one has a very prominent lemon furniture polish smell! Really nice. The shorter one has a similar vibe but not as outwardly lemony as the taller one

HOT DIGGITY DOG, this plant is reaching for the sky! Glad the stretch phase has finished, but as the flowers bulk they’re still kinda slowly creeping upward. Dimmed the light to 75% the highest tops are still getting hammered with well over 1200 PPFD and just taking it. Just gonna leave it & see how this goes, i can deal with a couple bleached tips if it happens.

The shorter plant looks similar to the tall one other than it being literally half the height.

Right on @RookieBuds ! You’re doing a much better job then I do with these types! The Pure OG Kush x Triangle was the strechiest of that hunt and had the tallest plants. I’d wager the beanstalk is gonna be better smoke then the shorty but as always , time will tell. Best of luck with the rest of you’re run!!

HOLY SHIT, the taller one had this AMAZING lemon cleaner/polish & borax soap thing going on, smelling it makes my throat itch. It’s REALLY nice. Stretchy and floppy as hell, the auxiliary branches can’t support the flowers.

The shorter one is very similar but less soapy. Visually the flowers are a little bit nicer looking. Some of the side-flowers are also flopping but not nearly as bad as the taller one.

Back to the taller one for a minute. … the highest tops are about 4-6 inches from the light which is set at 75%, and at a glance I thought they were foxtailing but they’re totally not. They’re getting HAMMERED with light & still just taking it like a champ:

This is a pic of the taller plant, not the tallest top this one is like middle of the plant. Still stacking hard but wanted to show one of the tops that isn’t closest to the light, this one is getting proper PPFD. Still not exactly foxtailing. Loving this plant!

This is the highest top on the shorter plant, I’d say maybe a couple inches closer to the light than the above pic. This plant isn’t stacking as hard and seems to be rounding 3rd base a little sooner than the tall plant.

Ok NOW the tall plant is starting to foxtail a bit:

Still not really badly though.

The shorter plant isn’t foxtailing at all:

That’s atypical @RookieBuds . Didn’t see any fox tailing on any of the parent stock. I wonder why it’s doing that, too much PAR on the tall one being closer to the light perhaps?

Oh yeah the highest tops are getting pelted with well over 1400 PPFD, I don’t want to dim the light too much to affect anything else negatively.
