Your argument is so arrogant that it doesn’t even acknowledge that there is anytime it is not beneficial to grow some way other than synthetic. There are some places that have more nutrient rich topsoil than they know what to do with. You’d be an idiot to pay for salts.
The reason your argument is wrong isn’t necessarily the side you are taking , @vernal, it’s because you are trying to make an absolute statement the salts are a completely better way to grow. At best it’s a lazy and incomplete answer, at worst it’s flat out wrong.
People should make educated decisions about how they want to do things, educated is the key part of that. To say that 13 elements are all there are to it is to do a great disservice to those that have discovered all of the why and how that we know up until this point. It’s the same attitude many have had throughout history as knowledge of many cultures was lost or buried do to the arrogance of conquering imperialists over and over again.
By moving the plants into a vacuum you are shutting yourself off, or at the very least severely limiting, the amount more you will learn about your plants and how they interact with the rest of the world. You are limiting the amount your are letting millions of years of evolutions teach you. Observing and being able to interact with the world around you more intently that will serve you well in any future, but knowing exactly how much of those 13 elements a plant needs is of very limited specific use.
You can still buy inputs if you want. This is the point, you are arguing it’s bianary.
I’m arguing a diverse ecosystem is stronger, healthier and more resilient, especially over the course of a wide range of stressors, than a single plant grown in sterile conditions. You ,@vernal, are giving a man a fish, I am trying to teach him to fish.
If you wanna make it about Imperialism lol feel free…I got no dog in the fight. Maybe the ancient Mesopotamians invented air conditioning…doubt it though lol.
Better…worse…really it’s about what delivers results. Salts deliver, bigger higher quality yields. Is what it is. Y’all can get bogged down with Vitalism and a million other idealistic platitudes, no point in debating feelings.
Ive tried mushrooms several times…everyone around me seemed to be having a blast…me, nothing Edibles are the same way. Can eat them like regular snacks and food. No effect. Sucks.
I have 2 friends like this. Both take SSRIs and neither can get off on psilocybin or edibles. Neither smoke so can’t assess that efficacy. Apparently those kinds of prescriptions really mess with your serotonin receptors to the point some are unable to experience the euphoria of substances. Not saying you fit into this bucket, but I’ve seen exactly what you’re describing.
