I sure hope not but I honestly don’t know yet. It’s a bulging disc that flares up from time to time, but this time the nerve pain is shooting all the way down my arm and all the way to the thumb. So I got a referral to an ortho for further testing, but I have to wait a whole week to get in there. Small towns. But at least my doc was able to give me a script for a stronger anti-inflammatory than ibuprofen, so that should help me get through the next week.
Ugh! That really sucks… I have Degenerative disk disease in my lower spine so when a disk bulges, its all lower extremities with sciatica involvement so frequent hot baths help though have to be mindful its not too hot to pass out due to MS - I cannot imagine the reversal in the upper spine
Whats your goto remedies @MomOnTheRun?
Favorites if not a goto?
I have 2 severely bulging discs that give me the same pain you are talking about. Both arms, left more than right. They did this electric stimulation tip make sure it wasn’t just carpletunnel. then mri, then cortisone shot in my spine, wasn’t as bad as i thought it was going to be. It’s called down a bit. It’s not constant now. Only if i lay with my head a certain way going to sleep. Next step is surgery, but i can deal for now.
It started from running up the stairs and smashing my head on the ceiling(old house with low ceilings) then about a year later i smashed my head with a post pounder. Lost a couple teeth with that one.
Baths…2-4 hrs long waiting for the water to chill then let out 1/2 and reheat at least 3 times
Pillow…between my legs to straighten out my spine
Small blanket…piled under my feet to slightly raise them making blood flow a little harder to circulate
Moving/rest cycles… for every 2 hrs of moving, sit still for 15 minutes
At 1st I practically lived in the bathtub fighting the chronic pain as I refused the surgery the Dr’s wanted to do. Kinda a catch 22 as the Dr’s said I’d be in a wheelchair in ~5yrs without it though with it, I had ~20% chance of not being in one right after…the recommended rest though with more rest, became more stiff which hurt more. So I made it my mission to prove them wrong…I tried the spinal cord stimulation in physical therapy though it was too much on the lowest setting which pissed them off for turning it down and if I kept it where they wanted it, I couldn’t bear the pain even with hydrocodone and naproxen in my system for more than a couple minutes crying the whole time so that was a waste of effort for everyone. I then turned to spinal injections…at 1st they were awesome though as time went on I needed them more frequently. At 3k each time this turned into a financial no go as my insurance limited me to 10k after my 2k yearly deductible
So ultimately, I stopped treatment altogether and follow the body’s healing pattern…hot/cold cycles, move/rest periods and limit lifting anything over 15 lbs during an active herniation. After awhile I started noticing my body’s cues right before a disk would herniate…creepy, crawling up and down my legs - if this happened during the day, I would take a long walk to the lake or at the store then rest for 20-30 minutes after an hour then repeat to increase circulation. If it happened during the evening/night (and most times it does) I go straight into the bath… if I push my body past this point, the stabbing/knife twisting feeling would start up in my right leg signaling the sciatica flaring up from too much pressure making moving almost impossible without a cane…to combat this, I take a couple days off to rest with my feet higher than my heart, take a couple naproxen and spend 8-12 hrs in the bathtub going through more hot/cold cycles for the inflammation. Usually by the 3rd day its settled down enough I can get control of it again
Out of all this, I believe learning and practicing proper body mechanics to have helped the most increasing the time between flare ups which ultimately allowed me to strengthen up my stomach muscles with slow yet steady stretching exercises while keeping the muscles flexed taking the pressure off the spine and of course, increasing my pain tolerance…
One down side of increased pain tolerance is now its so high that an injury isn’t so urgent like a few yrs ago, I was redoing my chicken coop to add more insulation and forced the boards to come together instead of removing the 2nd layer like I probably should have. Well, this led to the drill to slip off of the screw and go ~3/4 the way through my finger barely feeling it until I removed it. Wrapping it up to avoid air exposure made the pain dull enough that I drove myself to the nearest urgent care clinic. They sent me to the hospital. Once there, they made sure there wasn’t any nerve damage, cleaned it up then called psych when I refused pain medication and acted like I didn’t have a care in the world laughing and joking with the staff which isn’t the response they are used to. Luckily, one of my previous Dr’s was on rotation and backed me up so I could go on my merry way and reprimand myself for doing stupid shit again
That creepy crawly feeling in your legs sounds like a pinched nerve I get a very similar feeling when my knee pops back into place after hyper extending
I have alot of nerve damage and that creepy crawling leg feeling is something I deal with 24 hrs a day. Pinched nerves and damage in your neck and back can realy screw your whole body up.
That one is so fun… Creepy crawlies after the kneecaps sublux is so much fun…
Yeah it always pops out of place at the worst times …I do have popping it back in down though just takes a quick shake of the leg lol
Oh man that bites, hope the pain stays at bay. I just got over a month long migraine from C1 being twisted and cutting off the blood flow in one of my vertebral arteries and putting pressure on the brain stem. I’ve found that the goodys cool orange powders work pretty well in combination with ibu.
OMG! Got the heebie jeebies reading this! Sure hope its healing up quick. OUCH!
Just reading through some of this stuff here and I can relate to a lot of problems that you guys have as I have some of them too.
Im not sure if any of you have tried feldenkrais but it really helps with pain and movement. I was extremely suprised buy the results I got wih some of the programs.
No need to do it with a class or practitioner audio or video is how most of it is done just following instructions.
If anyone is keen to try some send me a PM and I can give you something to start with.
Right. How it was explained to me is when the disk starts to swell it puts pressure on the surrounding nerves giving the impression of a pinched nerve then as it progresses it intermittently cuts off blood flow to the sciatic nerve giving the stabbing pain in that one spot giving the impression of heart issues then the disk is bulging so much that it slips out of place
Oh yeah, that was ~3-4 yrs ago…the scar is barely noticeable
@slain I sent your seeds out yesterday. Give it about 2 to 3 weeks.
@DiggySoze I expect to send yours out tomorrow, but I haven’t yet. Yours should only take a few days by USPS.

Sorry but they’re already spoken for.
It was with a try , keep up the good karma, I just learn about testers and breeder programs last year.trying to get involved in OVERGROWING THE WORLD… Maybe next time!
@TheBubbleKing the thunder kush x Asian fantasy produce very short thick plants, was your interest in doing a preservation run or getting in on the beans produced from one ?
