Dendro's Outdoor Grow 2022

I grew up in the SW corner of the state, closer to Louisiana than Little Rock.
True story: We were driving past the spillway of a lake there, when we thought a branch or small tree had fallen off a truck (pulpwood was a major source of income for many in that area). It was actually a water moccasin, so long that it took up an entire lane. It was somewhere in the ballpark of 10 feet! My mother ran over it with the truck, and it still slithered off. I’d heard stories, but dismissed them…until that day. There may be no old-growth forest left in that area, but there are places that haven’t been cut (or where no human has even set foot) since the Civil War or sooner. God only knows what else is out there…

You grow by feel, by instinct. I think plants can pick up on that vibe, and it seems to make them happy.

Ha…damn, Im all mixed up as usual but okay, I can dig it. It all seems so similar in the end…Weed, watermelons, tomatoes, tamatoes…lol…guess its about how deep down the rabbit hole ya wanna go? Hopefully all our buds (and watermelons) will turn out ripe like this here suger baby without the need for any new refractometers, I’ll bet we can use our combined experience, and instincts instead…yes, k.i.s.s…lol…Melon Redemption…very satisfying and delicious and one melon gives enough seed for a whole plot next year, not gonna try indoor just yet on these…

Good luck on the welding, you Sir., are a man of many talents, I have total faith in ya! Its crazy how quickly new tech is replacing the last new tech…I dont know how far we live apart but if you ever want a hand with something, just holler…goes for anyone here :v::heart:

Right on, we drove through the whole damn state like fifty times, I wonder what things look like now. Out here, in Northern Va, I’ve watched the area change significantly. Haven’t been back to Arkansas for years but I plan to visit again whenever the world stops doing whatever the hell its doing right now.
Is it just me, or are things in general weirder than those people that have never heard of a Sonic or a Whataburger before?
Moccasins are Scary! One of the few snakes that Ive seen actually go after people, I believe they can get much bigger than the books say. I hear storys about the ten foot Timber Rattlesnakes around here all the time, Ill keep ya posted, Id actually like to come across one of those. Maybe not a ten footer but I do love the mysterys of the deep forests as well. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Happy you got a good one! Today I think I’ll try another melon, maybe a different strain. Melons and snakes, you’ve been into a lot. Nice bud and plant by the way in those pics.

Luckily now I hopefully don’t need the H2O2 tip, shouldn’t be worrying about rot for another month or so, when it’s usually dry as a bone around these parts. I seem to have a good location for growing, despite the heat. It’s dry in the fall, but the monsoons late summer are brutal on the early stuff more than the late stuff. Lessons learned. I’ll start the autos sooner in the season, and the photos later so they don’t get as tall as my fence. I figured the 30 gallon pots would somewhat restrict the growth - they didn’t

Have a great day, from an unusually rainy New Mexico!

Welcome to OverGrow! A bit late, yes, but it feels weird to hop in the comments and start talking like I’ve been here before. Although, if I’m being honest, after reading through most of the comments here over the past hour, it feels like I’ve been here before. Really cool thread with some super awesome people checking in. Hope you’re enjoying your time here so far!

A win for us both my friend! Im feelin good about yours from here, I say go for it. May the Melon Gods shine down upon thee :raised_hands:
Im mostly happy to find out that if a few early melons are cut, it does seem like the vines produce another one or two later on. When its all said and done, melons are a permanent part of the garden now for sure!
The snakes have been crazy and as you can tell, I actually love them so its especially weird for me to see so many, but yeah, this week has been a herp fiends dream. Now, you say New Mexico? Not gonna lie, literally jealous over the snakes you all have their, probably one of the best places in the world for them, Ive probably only driven through parts of the state before, but I was born in California and have family in Arizona so Ive seen some of the cool stuff yall have. Do you ever see any horned lizards? They are so cool, my nifty spirit animal!

Damn, sorry to hear about the rains, we’re getting them now too and have some pretty high humidity but it definitely gets better as it cools down, and 100% you have a great place to grow, the lower humidity is gonna be a huge help overall, great sun, open spaces, easily two, three good outdoor harvests a year if you mix it up as you said with autos and dont forget light deprivation. I imagine you’ll quickly whipp up and engineer a cool automatic blind-out or something as you ponder next years grow tokin on this years stash, as it slowly runs out this winter…I think I came out swinging with three autos and a photo on light dep this past spring, then I just kept going like a mad man, four at a time as fast as possible, and now just waiting on these last outdoor photos to finish so we can see what the new beans are made of in a nice clean indoor grow, Im putting together everything now, tent is set up, just want to get some new sterile soil and just do a simple indoor grow for a change. Its been awhile. Good luck, right? I keep feeling like I need to step it up somehow, lately it seems my beginners luck is starting to waver and Im supposed to know more by now, but all I can do is practice the basics as the wize ones seem to say around here, I guess Im just getting comfortable, not a bad thing!

Damn, those are thirty gals? Your plants are even bigger than I thought and are gonna get a hell of a lot bigger, blessings to come…and Good Luck with the melon, have a great day too brother!

Thank you! I appreciate that alot. This place is so full of people and ideas, like-minded for sure but it can still be alittle intimidating from time to time, yet its people like yourself that truly make this place special just by taking the time to say hi and give some positive encouragement, man you already made my day Banquo, please make yourself comfortable and do share any input here or add links to any of your threads? All good here as you can see…and since we’re just jumping in…lol…how is your weekend going?

Hi all, here are some photos(today) of my recent and not so recent hack and support jobs to share here…trying to show how I rigged these up, explaining how I do something is not always easy for me especially since Im always still learning for myself, apologies on lack of correct terminology but honestly, please feel free to hook me up, here goes…

So this plant has never been topped but as we grew, I would take the main fan after some good new fresh growth(I never take a leaf if there isnt a nice shoot already coming out, unless I dont plan on ever keeping that potential shoot)the main stalk and all large branches to help her bush out fairly naturally…

All her branches were fed into the screen a month or so ago and underneath shes pretty naked…

Now Im just keeping an eye on her, all the work has probably pushed her flowering back a bit, not sure how much I believe in that but I ‘kind of feel’(very scientific around here)that if done right, the beginning of flower can be pushed back with alittle to alot of trimming and other stressful events? Definitely dont want to stunt growth too much by constantly picking and trimming though. She is just starting to show real flower points and gets the least amount of sun of all plants, surprised she stayed so short(she was always this short, screen just helped to spread her out, her fans dont really scream indica to me but as she starts to flower more, ill probably remove alot of this inside growth, but Im waiting till she shows all her main sites more prominently…

Full shot…Ginger Grant(Brisco’s Bargain Beans) I have never found anything on her background so she’s been/is a real gamble, but Ive liked Brisco’s gear alot, Buttered Cowbell has some amazing phenos, and so far she has grown like a champ for sure…

The Don Johnson clone(Freak Genetics) has been really stipped down, almost all inner branches were removed as she grew and she was topped at the sixth node I believe, looking back, I wish I had bent her main branches out flat and just let the inner buds grow upward, not sure why I chose to go this route, was probably just really high at the time, but as shes grown Ive attached her long lanky branches and now she has some nice side branches that will probably help fill her out. Have not been defoling her as much as she has been the first to really flower, so waiting another week or so for another healthy round or two…up close, inside…

Her main colas have around three or four main fans left at top, all others beneath have been taken as we went…

Over top she looks alot fuller than this…
20220821_110239
I use anything and everything to help bind the inner branches together, bamboo stalks, kabob sticks…lol…, zip ties, green garden wire, shoe string, you name it, if it is sturdy and does not hold water well, Ill use it…when using binds, we have to constantly check to make sure they are not cutting off circulation…here she is again from above and further away…

Lastly, this is the Biggest girl by far, Snowfire Kush(Digital Genetics) at least 7ft by now and Im almost positive she’ll easily break 8ft soon…about 4 x 4 wide. She is also a clone and was topped as well. Similar game plan as the Don, just support her as she went, cleared inner branches to the point she is hollow but when seen at certain angles, she looks full in person, she also has alot of ties, I used some twine to wrap around her in a way as to connect all the branches so if you pull on one branch, the rest are affected, leading to some really nice over all support besides the usual poles and such. See if I can show the string…

Main trunk had to be freed again today, “they grow up so fast”…

Shes been absolutely chewed up by something over the last week or so(again), thrips I believe, shes not looking her best, has slowed down in growth abit, so not touching her much anymore. I plucked her up pretty good though and am confident she’ll find her groove again…

Hope all is well with you and yours and I sure hope this season is a winner for us all! I welcome any corrections on just plain bad advice and am very interested in learning more about this subject in general. Thank you OGs!

Good luck, many thanks for reading, and Happy Growing!:two_hearts:

Impressive stake-down! Those things look pretty secure compared to mine, need to beef up my ties a bit. The Hella Jelly and Snow-G are kinda frail with their appendages pretty weak, it’s gonna spell disaster if I don’t deal with them soon. Tuesday morning. The rest of them are like trees and I don’t worry about my trusswork as much.

Looking good! Your flowering doesn’t look to be delayed much, maybe a week or two compared to mine?

As far as snakes go, I don’t really deal with many around the houses. Mother-in-law had a rattlesnake a few months ago but they don’t really get in the way. You can definately find them in the desert though, always when you aren’t particularly excited to see them. Horned lizards are everywhere - we call them horny toads. They are pretty cool, certainly. As a kid I used to love chasing them, they’d let you pick them up and then run away when you set them down.

I don’t think I’m ever going to run out of this years harvest but hilariously I am already thinking about a greenhouse for off-season. Light dep wouldn’t be terribly difficult to automate, I think there are easy solutions to that problem. I think easily 2 full auto runs could be sequenced, probably two dep runs too. I’m more interested in growing really long sativas than producing multiple crops though, I’d use light dep to start flower June for 20-week landraces.

Have a great evening buddy :cowboy_hat_face:

Man, I’m so jealous of all you people with secure, legal outdoor grows. Well, okay, I am and am not. I realize it comes with its own extensive list of stuff to worry about, which I won’t even bother talking about because nobody here needs bad karma. But gosh dang I’d almost give up 1 of my lights to be able to enjoy some of my own sun-grown, at will. Your garden looks amazing!

I’ve learned in my time here that “OG is the place to be”, hands down. I used to kick around the various cannabis subreddits over on Reddit, but that place suddenly became almost as toxic as 4chan about 3 years ago. So now I completely avoid it and I couldn’t be happier, honestly. Nobody here has bad intentions, or gets off on trolling, or belittles someone under the guise of “constructive criticism”. If they do, they sure don’t last long. Not from what I’ve seen. The mod team here is proactive, which is more than I’ve seen in other places. It’s like one humongous family here at OverGrow :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, I’ll just call it neutral and leave it at that. It’s a funky time of year for me, so some days are better than others. But at least I’m not depressed! I’ll call that a win any day. Plus I discovered my tent has a guardian, sort of, living in it now. I was giving the ladies just enough water to hold off full blown drought til tomorrow, and I saw a little black hairy spider dart across the floor. Didn’t see where it went after it made it under the pot stand, but it’s in there. I don’t know what it’s gonna eat, and I sure hope it doesn’t get webs in my buds, but I’m happy to have it and it can stay as long as it behaves.

I do have a thread, but it’s more or less me slowly descending into social isolation induced madness, so I won’t link it proper. It’s an active thread, so feel free to drop by sometime. I named it Banquos Basement, and the name pretty much says it all. I usually keep my grow fairly small, but once in awhile I’ll cram like 15-20 plastic 1 gallon pots into my 2x4 tent, then slowly weed out males and herms. I don’t remember exactly how many I had in there for my last project, but it was more than a couple for the first few weeks.

Do you run a lot of autos? I saw talk of autos in some of your earliest posts on this thread. I’m an “auto guy” for sure. Do some do better than others for you, being up in the mountains a bit? Like, beyond the usual some are just better than others, thing. I’ve come up with a theory, kind of, that certain autos, specifically those that haven’t been back-crossed a bazillion times to the photo namesake, do better in harsher conditions than what we (tent growers) typically give them. I haven’t really seen anything written on the subject, and my experience with autos is strictly indoors.

Hey Dendro, just a quick food for thought comment.
I’m not finding the paper I wanted you to see. I’ll keep looking, but my time is just very split up right now.
I scrounged it, from an article, from an Israeli medical grow, they posted up the grow charts, and the terpene/oils ratio, from the plant, before a topping procedure, and they now have this protocol, of topping the plants 4 times during the early growth stage, increased the terpenes/oil values, better than plants that went untouched.
I grow for the those factors, as well as high THC values.
My wife, is in remission for the past 20 years now.
I do grow strains for head punch, as I’m just a silly stoner myself, but who does not want more goodies, if it’s just from topping them?
Your plants are looking fantastic Dendro!!
I just rebooted late last night, area 2. Another boring hydro run, well it was fun setting it up, just not the hours of cleaning.
Sprucing up my very neglected veggers, was embarrassing to me, how long I let the ugly leaf hang on for. Oh well, onward.

Ok, so here’s the deal…After waking up from last nights ‘House of the Dragon’ premiere party, which I thoroughly enjoyed(it was extremely intense, to say the least), I checked my mail as is usual and once again I am just floored with amazing fellowship from you guys, shared successes and hardships, interesting ideas, thoughts, and feelings that really hit home and cheered me up earlier this morning, not that Im in a bad place, but you guys always put a smile on my face and you are so appreciated! And so after trying to do this mornings chores, I quickly realized my mind was more on you guys, I was fumbling around and making stupid mistakes, randomly talking to myself, so it hit me that today, if I want to ever get anything done, I better get inside, pack a bowl and follow up with my homies…first things first! (Goes to pack another bowl…) Ahh…there we go, much better.

!DISCLAIMER!
I do apologize for the usual offtopic rambling, I try to respond to you guys but I know I usually end up getting carried away and just kind of thinking aloud…

@FieldEffect Thank you brother, I definitely tried to control these ladies, wanted to let them stay alittle more natural than past attempts yet still have the full stability of a good tie down with stakes, I think so far Iv accomplished that goal :grinning: We’ll just have to see if it actually holds up, winds could snap every damn branch if the gods command it. We do what we can though, I have faith in both of our future harvests, Im honestly starting to enjoy watching others grows turn out successful more than I care about my own. I have enough backup(fingers crossed) and am confident that in 60 days flat with the right cultivars and equipment, I can most always turnnout something nice, not trying to brag, well, alittle, but the true point is that once we build up the medicine, we get alittle more room to explore and experiment, just cant get cocky like I do… it can all go downhill so fast, ya know? So again, I truely wish us both, us all, only the best of successful grows and other accomplishments. Your again, dead on with your forcasts of how many outdoor grows you and most anyone with the right amount of sunlight and outdoor space can do. Your space really is a nice sunny spot, and even just having a shed or something that can be fully blacked out and temperature equipped can at the very least help one with ‘manual light deprivation’, I know it sounds silly but I just cant say it enough, and Field, I know you got a lot of this down but I just always like to think, hey, maybe someone else who has never grown or is having a hard time is reading this?, I known you feel me…so the manual thing is just so simple and easy(there are some hard lessons to learn, but its all actually very doable) and again, almost anyone with a roof over there head, the physical requirements to lift anywhere from three to thirty pounds or more(obviously, the more plants in bigger containers makes this all much more unrealistic for alot of people) an adequate place to keep the plant(s) during the dark period, a lot of patience and dependability, and of course access to wide open sunlight can pull off a decent harvest almost any time of the year if you dont live on one of the two poles. Your longer flowering sativas will certainly benefit from mastering this area of the grow. As they say around here on OG, ‘the big growlight in the sky’ is always free to use and when I started looking at the sun as a full time grow light, my harvest season started to widen big time. Now, doing something that is fully automated or building a greenhouse is preferable yes, and I sure as hell plan on building something myself after I steal someone’s um designs…lol…but until then, I make do with some really simple processes, and if anyone would like me to go into that stuff, explain my past mistakes, just lmk! I know I ramble alot about really simple shit and then occasionally might just brush past something more complicated because 1. I probably dont actually know what Im talking about, but do have some personal experiences or 2. Im just really stoned and lazy so I simply do as the stoner does. Usually a mix of both. So as usual, I will try and get this back on track, I always mean to simply say high and converse abit, but end up going on and on about something else and sometimes I just dont feel like erasing it all and starting over because Ive already spent the time, and I really feel you understand where Im coming from anyway but if not, please forgive me brother
I appreciate the response on the snakes, I was researching your states snakes like all weekend and when you showed me that cool looking flooding stream I knew that was some good habitat, and btw, I saw that yall had a hard time because of all that rain yesterday, hope all is well!
So yeah, Horny Toads! Yes thats what we called em too…they are definitely very cool lizards, very specialized eaters, lucky for them, certain species only eat certain species of ants, so they never did well in the pet trade, they are definitely Expert Level reptiles to keep. I only keep living beings that I am extremely confident on their needs and requirements, I kind of feel the same way about plants now too, it took some time to really feel how alive these things are. Not ‘things’ anymore. But I still struggle daily with my own wants and desires and the constant feeling that nature is best left alone. I think alot of us agree on this, yet we often times have huge differences in what we consider crule or unnatural…I just do my best to help support nature yet I known I am also a part of it, so when a little pretty snake is ‘gifted’ to me, I look after it for a while and then send it on its way and as long as I believe I know what I am doing, have good intentions and realize that I am responsible for the animal or plants well being, I am at peace. I wouldnt try to keep say a young Falcon, even though it sounds cool, I sure as hell know I cant wrangle the wild creatures of the air. Keeping Cannabis seems to take care of the itch. So many thoughts and ideas to ramble about, so little time…in the end, I hope your day is a good one!

@Banquo Again, Im just really glad you spoke up and introduced yourself, I definitely need help with the conversation here too, you had me laughing when you said “more or less descending into social isolation induced madness”), I fear that is what/will is happening here, I still have a very hard time just finding other people’s posts/threads, and unless someone puts a link here for me and the rest of the crew, I know I at least have a terrible time staying focused as Im usually blazed when I plug in and end up just fumbling around and not following up on things I ment to do, I am getting a little better at it but between my own page and occasionally checking in with others that Ive been blessed to meet, I dont have as much time as I like if Im to keep up with my chores here on the farm, luckily rainy day today, thank the lord! But Brother, please put up your link and I and Im sure others here will give you support on your grow, and I certainly dont mind if you post whatever you got going on here on this thread as well, just know how much I appreciate your words of encouragement and support. Im very sorry to hear of your current legal state of things. That is one area of this lifestyle that I experienced much more than I ever cared to know about in the first place, as Im sure most if not all of us here can relate. Though it deeply saddens me when I hear of anyone still struggling with these real life problems and hypocritical laws. I try not to ask too much about anyone, I try to let people express themselves, but if you cant tell, I do have alot of time on my hands and its been great getting to know so many awesome new people so fast and I really appreciate everyone being so chill with me when Im just not that good at being social. Not sure how yall feel on this, but I for one never used to really get online much before the ‘pandemic’, at least not like this, especially not to chat or post, some video games yes, but to be blunt…the damn state of the whole world, not getting political here, just the natural state of our species has been changing so fast so quickly along with the rest of our planet that almost none of us are fully blind to this fact anymore, imho. More and more we seek out each other online because the world has become a stranger place. I can barely stand to ‘go out’ anymore, an old codger I have become, a hermit with a mission to spread some love and seed to friends in need and it looks like Im not alone! A huge family indeed! I look forward to seeing your grows and checking in when we can, and about the autos, yes Ive certainly got a few in over the last couple of years but Im definitely still learning about them as I go, as you pointed out, autoflowering cannabis is complicated and will only continue to change the industry, but from what Ive seen, yes, I think the ruderalis genes help with higher elevation, lower humidity etc. I like where your going with this for sure, there is a reason they are so hardy. I have not really got a chance to experiment as much as I want, we do have a small four limit here so I cant go all pollen sacks to the walls or anything so time will surely tell, and I dont have any genetics that are even remotely pure ruderalis, but if you read in some of my former posts, I do have some new seed stock of my own to work with so I was thinking Ill probably do a nice clean indoor run or three over the winter with one of the photo x auto seed batches, and then try and do some outdoor with the full auto offspring if I can make it happen and the Gods look down on me in favor. Again, really cool questions and ideas that keep me, us, going, thank you. I pray your day is going well and that we can continue to grow together :pray:

@webeblzr All good, I get the jist of this one(that was funny about the refractometers, of course you were talking about weed…duh!), and I happen to fully agree, when I think of cannabis and how it slowly evolved all of these great natural chemicals we enjoy so much, I have to think that its been two fold. At first its easy to see that the compounds were formed to ward of potential predators one way or another and if these animals were chewing on her leaves and buds I can see how she would want to naturally increase those helpfull compounds. So at the very surface, I just think defoliation or loss of plant material would help. How she does this is beyond me, but another thought that Ive had(a good read here, Michael Pollan? “the botany of desire”) is maybe cannabis has in a way realized that something(us) actually wants her goodies and how is that going to change her overall evolution and how does our role in the plants now even more widespread population effect its, as well as our own, evolution? Just a little extra food for thought…sounds like we are on similar patterns indoors as well, Im just getting everything all cleaned up too and ready to go…gonna be a very simple indoor grow but Im thinking of trying one coco/perlite grow and have never done pure coco, time to do some research of my own…hope all is well. I am very happy to hear that your wifes cancer is in remission. It sounds like you have helped to keep it that way despite the hardships of this lifestyle. You are a true Saint brother. All my prayers and best wishes :heart:

looks killer man, I use zip ties the secure shoots to my cages about 4 weeks bloom I’ve already been using them to pull back shoots that are crowding my platform   :metal: :metal: :metal: :metal: :metal:

Thanks and I agree, zip ties are great… Ive definitely gone overboard with them and they take some getting used to, but eventually their like legos or beading, very calming, and once they get set up, the control they offer is like nothing else, just a few clicks at a time and branches are at perfect positions. And not to mention, they never fall apart on you, would be cool to invent or find some that could be reusable tho…i do want to get some of those fancy shoot bending clips I keep seeing, forgot to order some on my last refill of supplies, they are adjustable and reusable but I cant buy them at the hardware store just yet, so zip ties it is!

ya those are cool I got em saved in my amazon list. Try em when I get my indoor setup :metal: :metal: :metal: :metal:

Well, we got a pretty incredible storm last night, funny you should mention that. My peppers were all blown over on the porch. The other plants were too far outside to visit in the rain. Huge winds and we probably got 2" of rain in 30-60 minutes. Cloudburst type thing. I spent some time Sunday evening getting everything staked down better than before, hopefully that saved their bacon. I know if I hadn’t done that, Snow-G and Hella Jelly would definately be goners. They might still be.

I see what you are saying, with the confidence building up as harvests stockpile. I totally agree with that. I’ve read, I don’t know if here or in one of the books, about people moving pots in/out of the house at night. I used to think that using pots would allow me to move the plants in during storms, but they wouldn’t fit into doors of the shed or kitchen - they grew way too much, they are outside plants now. And if they did manage to find their way inside, dear god, my wife would kill me, there would be no room left in the house. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Maybe the little autos in 3-5 gallon pots LOL

The storm last night reminded me how little control I have, over anything. The plants, nothing I could do. Hundreds of hours invested at this point could be totally gone, we’ll see soon. It’d be sad but definately learned a lot and I’m sure something will have survived.

I want to build a better structure for sure, not sure if I will or not. I entertained building a clear-panel slanted roof for this year, but the new baby (almost a year old) has been demanding lots of attention. Lots of damage this morning might accelerate that project into being something I do this winter though

The wildlife is really cool, and I have the same stance on pets. If I can’t give it a great life, I’d rather not take on the responsibility. Humans have changed the world so fast it’s mind-boggling. The life we know today would never have been imagined even 100 years ago. We synthesized this way of life. Roads, cars, office buildings, jobs and entire careers that serve no immediate purpose, stores full of “stuff,” food that comes in a box. When I watch the hummingbirds fight in the backyard I remember that they were here long before anyone was feeding them, and they’d be fine without me and my dutiful filling of the feeders. They just enjoy the convenience of it. 200 years ago there were people farming in my literal backyard, learning by trial and error and a few books probably. 1000 years before that was about the same as 200 years ago. We are by far, the most ridiculous animal on (and even off) the planet.

I was thinking last night about the difference between science and intuition/feel. In the cannabis community this seems to be almost a contentious line to get drawn, I noticed it in a few threads and several videos of popular cannabis personalities. I believe fundamentally they are the same. Science, to me, is just a language we use to describe/understand nature…just like math is a language to describe the world around us. I almost feel like the general cannabis community has lots of people that get into science because of the plants, I’ve kinda been the other direction, the plants happened after everything else I’ve learned and become fascinated by. Anyway, just wanted to articulate that it’s really neat to see. My approach to over-engineering stuff isn’t born from ignorance to natural things/orders, rather an appreciation of it, and I like to use the things I learn to make things better. Definately rambling by now, I almost posted last night when I had a really clear train of thought but wound up staring out the window marveling at the storm.

Cheers buddy, wish me luck this morning, hopefully I find some water-logged plants that can at least be mostly salvaged. I really just hope at least some branches on each are OK, I really grew that broad spectrum of plants just to sample, if I get a few colas of each I’d be a happy camper.

EDIT: 6:30am, just enough sunlight to assess the state of the garden. What a blessing, nothing is broken! Some stem splitting but I’d describe it as minor. The smaller plants are pretty flattened, the bamboo skewers just bent in place. Lost some leaves but nothing toppled over. Shook off the water on the buds and will go back out once full daylight for some pictures. It’s bizzare seeing them completely flattened by the wind, 10-30 degrees away from dead flat. Shocked at the resiliance there, they just laid down and waited it out. I’m so used to seeing them perky and straight upright. The Hashplant and Hawaiian Snow look like nothing even happened last night, those things are trees at this point. Literally few inch diameter trunks and 6-7 feet tall. They’re bigger than my fruit trees. Potted pepper plants which blew over suffered more leaf loss and dropped quite a few flowers but no fruit. Garden still crankin’ over here!

So glad they/you are all right my dude! Yeah, those storms woke me up as well, I was watching the news and praying for yall, it looked crazy intense out west…made me go check all mine out too, but everything looks good out here but we sure as hell haven’t got hit like that yet, sounds like you eased through one of the many obstacles in this gauntlet!
Going to go get some coffee and a smoke and then planning on doing some more of my own rambling today, and dude honestly, I really, really dig your ramblings, in my opinion, thats when the good stuff, the truth, comes out of any of us, and at least for me, free form thought is like self counseling, I got to get it out somehow, someway…Ramble on! And dont worry, much, much more to come!…Hope you and all the family here are having a good day so far!:v:
