Thank you kind Sir!
And I agree, its definitely the journey, not the destination and this train here is moving! :beers:

Gotta say, those things are looking fantastically uniform. I like the slightly wider leaves on the FCCxStH and the subtle differences between that and the BOG cross.

You’re making me want to grow inside with those pics.

I’m very curious about several things the more I think about them, and fortunately you are going to help answer them over time with your run. Are these fast hybrids (defining fast as Auto x Photo) actually triggered by both time (like mine was this summer, flowering before summer solstice), or photoperiod? If so, maybe I need to try growing a Bubblegum Auto (I actually have some FastBuds seeds) to reverse and use to pollinate a few nugs of the IBG next season. I think I’m going to give it a try.

Full steam ahead!

I know right? Its definitely obvious they came from the same mom, I see alot of her traits in all of them but you hit the nail on the head with the B OG leaves because its funny, I remember standing with my brother looking at a few plants earlier this spring, one of them happened to be the Banana Og male, and he pointed out the unique shape of the leaves. The strong upward curves on the edges, and really long petiols that help the new shoots that grow almost straight out laterally to easly break free of the fans. At the time I was praying for a female but now Im very glad he showed up and that I didn’t waste the opportunity like I usually do! So anyway, Im seeing those same traits hard on one of the BOG x STH and then one of the FCC x STH is also showing out with some really strong branching and vigorous growth, beautiful wide leaves, Im already hoping for a certain pair here but whatever happens, it sure is scratching the itch.
As far as the flowering goes, I’m definitely seeing some signs of sex already but its not ‘full on’ just random spots so far and the growth patterns have not changed as far as stretching and such. As Iv stated before, I have had a stong suspicion for awhile now that when autos become root bound they will start to flower, so there is always that factor in my book, but these were direct sowed in the five galls and I dont see that being a factor here yet. At three weeks, most autos Ive grown have been farther along in flower so Im thinking that the light cycle is indeed keeping them in veg for now, if I flipped it, they would flipp for sure but Im gonna wait another week just to see more of what we’re both asking and wondering about here. I too want to know what they will do on there own, probably just gonna wait another week because I really want to complete another round before spring. But we should be able to make a good call on what is triggering full flower this round, probably a mix of factors, I would think the plants get ‘confused’ until we get them to f3, Im guessing f2 is when we see all sorts of different types of plants pop out and that is where the most important selection will be? Either way we cut it, these f1 plants are super easy and vigorous and much more uniform than I was thinking as well. The bud from the BBM x ECK was and is fantastic, I need to take a pic for yall, Ive had auto bud that was honestly pretty shitty but this is good, real good. I have faith in this new round as well. Thanks for the motivation and feedback brother

I like what your thinking of doing, Go for it! A little auto grow indoors is nothing like the shit we just went through, I think youll find it relaxing and ‘just enough’ excitement to get through the winter. Thats a cool, well defined project to start with too. Feminized Fast Bubblgum? Oh yeah, that’ll be epic bro! :sunglasses: Can’t wait! The ramblers ride again :tractor:

What is your goal? A full auto?

I think with the F1 generation none of them will be full “auto” as the term is commonly used. My hope is that F1 mix is uniformly in between auto/photo. I noticed this, in my case, flowering started after ~10 weeks despite the light cycle being something like 15 hrs day/9 hrs night. I don’t know that to be true, what leads me to this conclusion is the fact that all the “fast” strains I see online are F1s of photos and their auto “equivilent.” I think you’ll begin to see fully “auto” plants in the F2 generation at a rate of 25% with 50% “fast” and 25% photoperiod only. If you F3 the autos of the bunch you’ll finally have a homozygous autoflower plant, but in order to have the characteristics you want you need to be selecting for those traits in addition to the autoflower property. It just means for the F1 generation you only need two plants you like, selecting the F2 generation for autos should require 8 plants (to yield 2 “autos” to cross together) - but I’d run way more to do the bulk of the selection for other traits.

You started with two plants you liked to make each of those F1s. Hopefully you like two of those plants enough to cross them. To select F2s for auto you’ll probably need to grow AT LEAST 8 to find the 2 autos of the bunch. Fortunately, you only have to let 'em go a month or so to determine which are which. I’d probably grow at least 10, probably 20. Then you’d have, ideally 5, full autos that you can select for the F3 generation, ideally with the traits you want. Hopefully that would be fairly stable but you F4 them to improve the selection. This isn’t so much telling you how it works as it is barfing up my limited knowledge and hoping people correct me if I’m misguided. You know how on other forums you say something wrong immediately people correct you, but if you just ask a question the answers come much more sparsely

In other words, if I want to make F1 “fast” Bubblegum, it’s fairly simple and contained only because I never intend to take it beyond F1. I’ll grow the whole 3-pack of seeds I have for the auto version. I need to read more about STS and reversal, but I have several months for that. I believe i can reverse a branch on each of them and collect pollen from each of those plants. This would be occurring sometime early June if I do this anything like I did last year (or if I start inside maybe sometime way sooner LOL). As those plants mature, I’ll keep track of which I like best and that’s the initial selection - my fem auto pollen donor. That’ll be a conclusion I draw sometime mid-late July, as those donor plants all reach female maturity and I can give them an honest evaluation. I’m pretty sure you aren’t supposed to smoke plants you reverse, so they’ll just be flowered out to watch/smell them. Similarly, I’ll plant 4 or 5 FDM IBG seeds mid-May, cull males, and will have picked my choice female by the time they start flowering. Maybe I’ll let two females go all the way through flower, and pollinate each one. Naturally, I’d prefer the seeds from whichever pheno is my favorite at the end of the season. Next season, hopefully I have somewhat reasonable bubblegum fast females, indeed. I’m banking on the fact that I suspect the FastBudz BG seeds are at least F3-4 to produce autos uniformly and are therefore quite stable, as well as FDMs IBG seeds are stabilized well (he knows his shit way more than me so that’s not a bad bet, it’ll be at least BX2). Does that sound like a good plan?

Man, ya know, Im just not sure yet. Im really just riding the wave and seeing where we land on this one. In a perfect world, Id love a full uniform photo, uniform fast, and uniform auto of each but I know I just dont have it in me to do it all. I did some trimming today and was very tempted to take some clones but because of my legal issues, I just cant push my numbers at all right now. Thats really it, if I could push it, I would, but for now, gotta just use the grows/chucks to build my skills, hope for some wins along the way and try not to freak out too much when things dont work out perfectly. I simply cant take it as seriously as I want right now. :weary:

But, Im having way too much fun and learning alot of hands on experience that is going to pay off, hell, it already has! Now, if I happen to see the right stuff over the next week or so, I wont hesitate to cross any of these four plants. I want to see as much of what Ive already done before I make a true selection of what I plan to do next, I want to see at least one example of each before I move on to the next major goal, so as I run one or two of each cross to see what their made of, Ill keep an eye out for good pairs and just go for it when they show up. I think over the years to come Ill get a much better understanding of what to look for and what is truely unique and then when the law is not up my ass, Ill be able to crank it back up again. Ive been listening to the wind and its telling me to slow down.
Man, I wish I had more in me on this weekends ramble as I have been contemplating this stuff alot lately but its been a long day and the old lady is calling me for dinner and the dogs are barking their asses off, so Ill be back when I can get some real time for a proper ramble but didnt want to leave ya hanging. Be back on tomorrow homie!

Hope all is well this weekend everyone

Nothing wrong with that. Better safe than sorry, I was just getting excited thinking about it. I’m lucky with the plant count here, it’s 6 per adult up to 12 per household. Stoked to give it a go myself next year, started rambling in overdrive.

Incremental learning is great man! That’s all we’ve been up to all summer. Some of those incremental steps have been bigger than others. Listen to the wind, seems it’s usually right. We’ve all known the feeling where we ignore it, and boom, you know you should have listened.

Have a good one and hope all is well there too. Cheers!

Yo brother… just got a very interesting tid bit of information out of this grow and I think you and others will be happy to hear this…after lowering the lights on period by one hour for only a few days, so its now 17/7, Im seeing all four plants show sex with already one confirmed female. The current ratio isnt really that important right now as this is mostly an experiment in itself, but Im loving this light schedule and the plants reaction, not sure about all fast variations but it is very easy to induce flowering on these particular f1 photo x auto plants. They showed some signs of sex at 18/6 but as soon as I dropped it just that little bit, they reacted. Very cool!

She was a late bloomer for real, it was like her fans didnt have a single trich but under the skirt she got sticky icky! Yeild was very impressive, almost didnt get her all down but there is half a tree still hanging out up there in the kennel getting ready for the ice buckets, so yeah, my outdoor season was officially over last Saturday. Pushed her to the limit. Im not smoking the raw flower much but the hash is off the chain. Tan, instant bubble. I know yall understand! Blessings Brother :raised_hands:

You should use fresh green buds, that’s the prize winning formula. It’s just a math trick that makes it seem to yield less, because the bud weighs 90% more when wet.

I think so too! I’m seeing the first seedling pics dated as Oct 19, so four weeks today. Started the dark increase at three weeks when I saw the first preflowers on one or two of them, it seemed to be going slow… IME, usually when I see preflowers, I can tell the sex within a couple days or three but these seemed stuck so started the switch(this time, only 15min every few days till I got where I wanted) and yeah, just yesterday was able to see that at least one of the FCC x STH(right side) is a female, quite possible the rest are males, Im pretty sure the Banana OG fathered plants are going to be male but still inconclusive. Im gonna leave the lights where they’re at for now but will keep you and all the family here updated on what I see. I apologize for no photos, my phones full again and wont let me take new photos till I upload them again, Bean trying to break out of this fall time funk as well, shit hits me hard, thank God for good people like you and the whole fam here…

Whats up Joe! Thanks for the Pro tip and yeah, it probably cant get any fresher than that, right? I had heard different things on yeild but what your saying makes sense and Im gonna give it a go, next round.

Currently, I’m still working out how to better pull of a diy press with an oven, a few flat bathroom tiles, and my own weight, so far, its really not bad, collect the rosin then decarb and eat whats left in the mesh. It’s hella nice when we can play around abit, ya know? Hope all is good man :beers:

Until I get new photos to share, here’s some shots from last years grow and some random stuff for fun…

Thats weird, I thought I posted this yesterday, hopefully there wasn’t a full frontal in the mix as I have now forgotten what is up there…

Ok, good deal, no sexy shots except for some naked ladies from bag seed. Close call!

Here are some more past photos of Brisco’s ‘Buttered Cowbell’ I might have put some of these up before? Sorry if repost…

Was vegged indoors Jan-Feb, got too tall for the tent, pulled off a successful manual light deprivation to flower her March and April…

A very lanky and floppy pheno(my grow skills probably did not help) but those buds were supa dank! I had alot going on and she didnt get much attention other than the manual dep which is a bitch, but a great learning tool.

Bottom line…Cant wait to run this one again.

Dang Dendro, while looking at Buttered Cowbell, one of my favorite songs from the early 80’s popped into my head, Oh Super Man, Laurie Anderson.
Lovely work my friend, and Bobo!
