Dendro's Outdoor Grow 2022

Not half the town, but all the family friends who want any. Hella Jelly, Snow-G are the barber-shop favorites. Interestingly, there is a generation of people that don’t know HOW to smoke weed or what to do with flower. Never thought I’d see that but I gave a sampler pack to one of my wife’s friends and she didn’t know how to smoke it. She had only ever done edibles or vape carts. I’m still so stunned by that it sticks in my memory.

The other half doesn’t smoke, she did here and there when we got together though. She knows I enjoy it and there aren’t really any drawbacks to me and my hobby, as long as it doesn’t stink up the house too bad. She was a little upset when I made brownies a while back and she came home and said it reaked. Or the one time I re-packed my “cooler of destiny” for long-term: Smaller QP Grove bags stuffed pretty full, all those in a big vacuum bag for comforters, with a handful of oxygen absorbers and 58% Bovedas. She complained about the smell for at least 24 hours, and I gotta say, I feel her there, we went out for dinner and came back with fresh nostrils, you open the door and just go DAMN. I mean, life’s always a compromise. We can both be happy, sometimes I do shit that annoys her, sometimes it’s me being annoyed. As long as we talk through those things we’re just growing our relationship and making ourselves better parents. We had a good V-day as well, glad to hear you guys enjoyed it.

Got your surprise of a gift in the mail yesterday, made my week cracking that open last night. Looking up and reading about different lines and adding them to my seed inventory. I like Mephistos strain guide where you can look everything up, that’s a really nice feature. The FCCx(BOGxSTH) looks tempting to me, going to scour through this thread again and look at those two phenos and try to pick one, or maybe the BOGxSTH. Dunno yet, but I’ll have fun figuring it out  That’s a killer cola right there :star_struck:

Glad to hear you are feeling better with the CBD.

Cheers man, the smokey kind not the drinky kind.

You get it. I love cannabis and could be perfectly happy to never drink again. The longer I stay dry, the less tempting alcohol becomes. As I’ve said before, cannabis changes my perception, making alcohol taste revolting. This is a good thing, as alcohol for me was a major problem for a lot of years. Cannabis has saved the lives of many alcoholics.

So dang, Ive been trying to get online for two days here and there with no luck, I saw that the site was up through my emails, but I could not sign in…Im guessing it was just my satellite internet though it gets really frustrating, I dont intend to take this long to reply to you or anyone else, I mean, Im lazy and all but I try not to be rude. My apologies brother!
I really appreciate the kind words and concern, after a few not so good grows along with that strange sickness, a nice easy and rewarding experience was really needed if I was to ever feel confident with any of this ever again and IF the strange sickness really was caused from cannabis, which Im still very confused and debating, then I needed to find a way for all of this to work. No point in investing all this time, money, sweat and tears if it was the very root of why I was sick. All said and done, I just cant say for sure what the sickness came from, the severe symptoms came and went though I dont eat whole cannabis anymore and I take the daily cbd along with whatever else I consume in a day, I have been attempting to slow down on combustion for many reasons. Your testimony definitely is intriguing and I can relate with and understand your thinking there. In the past, I didnt really see the big deal of breeding out all of the natural concentrations and the longterm distortion of this plant, but now, when I say it like that at least, it makes alot of sense why we must be careful with not only what levels of cannabiniods and which ones we are raising but also what levels we are lowering or cannabiniods that we are ultimately leaving out all together, over time. Everything matters! I just wish that we didnt have to do all the research ourselves, well, that’s not true, it is kind of fun
Very kind of you to look out for your Fam, its great to hear testimony like that brother! Next time I have a hermie plant, Ill think twice before I cull it, I do know it sounds crazy but Ill save some pollen and try an experiment of my own or two down the road.

Hope all is well this weekend with you and all the good folks here, glad I got through!

A Big Smokey Cheers to you as well Brother! Thats awesome that they made it, we’re both really helping to keep the gene pool alive now! Such natural beauty in the dispersion of genetics, an epic journey of beans :sunglasses:
As soon as it warms up, one or two of the Mephisto autos should hook you up with soom super quick, dank bud. Thats what Im going with first outside, in a month or so, Ill probably take them inside at night until they get strong and the days are long enough, 7 gallon fabric pots work great for that but putting them in the ground or in your huge containers would probably create some freakin monsters when its warm enough out. For the last couple of springs, I used Meph genetics and the plants gave me some great buds before most things had even started to get green outside. The quality of the flowers has also changed my perception of autoflowers in general, Ive even grown a few next to sunny windows with not too bad of a yield. Im definitely interested to see if you have similar experiences, Ive finally acquired a few autos from different breeders and lines so Ill have something to compare to myself and possibly aim for some bigger autos down the road.
Im planning these Hella Jelly photos for mid summer with an indoor start maybe, really hyped to see what we both get from these new beans. Very thankful homie!

Just now starting week 7 and these examples are right on time for a quick turn around…

Finally got off my butt and took care of whats really important to remember in this life…to ‘hash out’ all that old rough material in the freezer! :upside_down_face:

Removed the last ounces of the deep frozen SnowFire Isis Kush and Don Johnson buds from the freezer, gently crushed it all up real quick, a few ounces were still holding some moisture so I didn’t use them, next time! In total, I ended up using about three ounces of flower and trim, not sure what the final yeild of honey there will be but Im looking to find out…

I like to have my station all set up and ready to go, though I forgot to grab a ‘before’ photo so here is the aftermath…

About a half a bag of ice and some water, its really too simple when done right, but it should be said, its taken me about 5 or 6 total attempts at all of this to say that statement.
To start the direct process…Pour the crushed up frozen material in with the ice and water, all in the first largest mesh size bag and I use a kitchen gadget to mix it all up, probably like most folks do. Having a few extra buckets really helps with a few obvious things, some extra towels and a fat joint really get the work going right.

Now, I am going to try the dry ice method next time and Ive heard many, many times that dry ice is the WAY to go. Since this batch was infected with PM, I believed the water was important.

On that note, I have not had or experienced any known symptoms from the PM infected bud. I wouldnt blame anyone for questioning the sickness that Ive bitched about, though I was 100% getting sick from any potential cannabis use(if this is what the real issue is) way before I ingested any part of those particular plants. I actually believe it first happened from eating too much flower from a dispensary over a year and a half ago. My personal research has simply lead me to believe that powdery mildew is not a real danger to humans, but I still like to wash the flower as best as possible and so sifting for hash seemed the best way to go to consume this batch, and further pressing has totally relieved any lingering worries. I do not share any pm infected bud with anyone that is not also aware of the issue, I leave it up to them but I would never give it to anyone unknowingly. Just sayin. Ive got…some…scruples.

It took 5 runs to get what we were blessed with here…

Ive stopped using all of the different seven mesh bags as it is just alot of extra work and these days Ive further been pressing our material with a flat iron, 25 micron nylon rosin bags and parchment. So its all mostly being used the same way, I personally do like to see the differences in all the different grades recovered from the different micron sizes of bags. When pressing though, as long as you get your herb down to at least kief grade, youll have an easy time getting started with pressing. Man, I wish I had known how easy and productive this technique is, Im always hoping to learn some better, easier methods down the road(i have some ideas) but for now, this one works very well for personal use and doesnt cost a few hundred for a real press, more like 30 bucks for a simple hair flat iron, you just want to find one that has adjustable heat or doesn’t get as hot as mine does, I have to plug it in, let it warm up and then unplug, a little finesse gets it just right.

Once you get everything fluffed out, laid on some parchment paper, please place it all in the freezer for at least 24 hours to fully dry it out, dont let it air dry, even if you dont have alot, the material really does break down fast if left wet and will grow mold just like wet weed. Ive been fairly lucky but Ive heard some terrible horror stories from packing up still wet hash. So let it fully dry in the freezer before packing in containers(and I still keep mine frozen until use/press), if its frozen after a day or so, it still has water in it, you want it to be like sand.

Ok, most important suggestion on the ice hash…always, Always, ALWAYS…do one last run…this was from round six and seven, after I had put the lions share in the freezer, I added some more ice to the bag and did two more rinses and this is what we got…

Dang, I lied again, Music is the most important step of this entire process…

Circle of life and seeds. Imagine even a few hundred years ago that would have been next to impossible. We can send seeds, see each others plants, thousands of miles away in days. Crazy animals, we humans are :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll give something a go for sure. I think I’ll run a few over the course of the summer so I have fresh harvests to play with. We’ll see, nothing set in stone yet. Maybe I’ll just wing it for once

Ball pythons are really cool. Have you ever seen rainbow boas? They don’t get very big, but they are not afraid of humans and are really easy to take care of. While we had to shake the pinky mice for the ball pythons, the rainbows grabbed it right up. They also seemed to like being held. When I worked at Petco, there was one girl who always brought her two ball pythons. A lot of animals know who their people are, and one of hers seemed to know I liked snakes and always tried to get to me.
My wife and I had 2 tokay geckos for a while. One was bred in captivity and the other was wild-caught. The captive-bred one was friendly to people. The other just seemed to tolerate being picked up. Tokays have a (deserved) reputation for being biters, but the meanest gecko I ever saw was a Moroccan white-spotted (Tarentola annularis). When he would bite, he would shake his head back and forth like animals do when they want to tear off chunks. He also tried to growl, but he was so small (about 4 inches) that it came out as a squeak. Funny as hell.

Probably start the photo beans early-mid April under shop lights again, pumpkin and watermelon at the same time. The cannabis will go out 1st or 2nd week of May. Probably keep the pumpkins and watermelons inside a week longer.

Last year it worked well because each weekend I was motivated to get the beds ready to go because I had seedlings that had to go somewhere :joy:

This year I’m starting more beans because they’re mostly regular seeds. Week 2 I’ll probably get them sexed and start culling.

Auto beans will just go straight into planters outside mid-May.

When does your season start and what’s your ritual?
