Dendro's Outdoor Grow 2022

Oh man, I have to get off my butt and soak some other beans besides cannabis, definitely some pumpkins and watermelons as well, I might try some broccoli and cauliflower again, they grow pretty good here right about now…I did start a few cool things already…a Virginia wildflower garden, a bunch of hopeful cattails…I do have a few exotic seeds, figs for one…I’d love to see if its possible to somehow grow some dates…lol
Man, our season is now! Im always putting something out, as soon as its warm enough, in pots at first for just a few hours, it sounds like we’re more or less in similar environments, of course some differences but it would be interesting to see. I do put ours out fairly early, I guess, I just keep an indoor schedule overall and then gradually increase, but I cant put anything in the ground until 4/20 or so, too risky, but it really does seem to change up, I have some lillys blooming outside already…cannabis will have to wait though…excited brother! BTW, the mephistos wedding x 4 assed monkey is a real beast, I am gonna let one of those rip outside early and will not be surprised if she puts outs a pound or more from what Im seeing from indoor under 350w in a three gal. Shes looking special!

For me this year, its gonna be Hella Jelly x Everything. Super stoked :raised_hands::yum: I have a few other plans going on but that is for sure the main culprit, forever grateful :heart:

I laid out my veggie seeds today to decide what gets run next season on that front.

Doing Atlantic Giant and Jack’O Lantern Pumpkins, Ali Baba and Sugar Baby watermelons. Going to try luffa gourds too, we’ll see how that goes.

I thought figs were trees? Interesting. I know a few people have them around here, but I’ve never seen the plants themselves.

I was thinking about running that Wedding x 4-Assed Monkey as well, that’s what you recommended in your note. Thinking about that Strawberry Grease x Marley’s Grin for a more sativa-leaner to accompany it. Is that a fem or did you cross a SG male to the Fem Marley’s Grin? It’s probably in this thread I just can’t find it in the 700+ posts :joy:

I’m still torn about what I want to run for photo sativa. I have some C99 pineapple, some Durban x C99, Chocolope, curious about that Maui Wowie Fem, and I have that Honduras x Panama from Ace. I think it’s gonna be the Honduras x Panama, even though I’ve always wanted to try Chocolope. I’ve got many more seasons ahead of me, I can’t buy anything pure sativa like the Hon x Pan, so that is my inkling. I picked up some Chocolope from a dispo here but it isn’t impressive, pretty sure that’s the commercial grow/dry talking rather than the strain itself.

Happy you’re excited for the Hella Jelly. Luckily I’ve got a big bag here to toke on while I watch you. I gave some to another friend of the family yesterday, it was the first time I’ve opened the big grove bag in a few months. DANK DESSERT are the only words for it. :fire: :fire:

Oh man thats cool, the luffa gourds are really interesting, looks like a whole bunch of different uses, I guess I thought ‘luffas’ came from some sea animal or something, lol those should be fun to grow and wow, I am really glad they dont come from animals.
Are the atlantic giants real giants? Hundred plus pound type stuff? Ive thought of trying something like that. Cant wait to see both our gardens going strong this summer!
Ill probably stick to the sugar babies for the watermelons, not sure if all the seeds I saved will be any good but Im gonna try a bed of them, really try and get them going good in their own plot and just do the cannabis by itself this year in the plots from last year, all prepped and ready to rip.

I think your right as usual, figs are trees and get big, Im fairly sure there are some miniature varieties but Im not fully certain, hell, I dont know that much about all this when it comes down to it…lol…I had saved some date palm seeds and those definitely get big, I get them confused though, Ill have to do some proper research and see if any of it is even possible, I believe both take a few years to develop fruit, I have some big house plants that we moved this fall to a kind of sun room space we have and they got me thinking as they seem to be doing well with all the bright windows during the winter, maybe if I keep certain things in 10 or 20 gal containers and use a dolly to move them inside or outside as Ive seen others do with large plants…though, I probably should just start planting some fruit trees that grow year round in my climate…lol that would be alot easier. I remember Grandpa had all sorts of citrus trees when I was young, they lived in Arizona and it was wicked, so exotic, not gonna be able to do those unless I try some of the miniatures and give up some tent space during the winter, damn, planning and thinking is always so much easier, I think Ill bust out my seed collection soon too and see what I actually have. Gonna come up with a loose plan this week.

Oh, and shit, before I forget, Im glad you brought up the Starberry Greases x Marlys Grin…this is embarrassing and I feel bad, it is regular seed but yet another potential mistake on my end, Im not happy about it but I had to chop mine down yesterday(psychic much?), she had been female and was looking good but I found a few male sacks on her already…she and another plant, different cross, someone elses work, that was next to her, both right next to the vent and I had been treating them kind of rough, so it 100% could have been a light leak but either way, those girls are very sensitive or just plain herms, I like to think its usually just sensitivity but I’ll do some more runs, try and figure it out, just wanted to be up front about it. Sorry brother! So far everything else is looking to be :ok_hand:.

Your sativa list is really nice man, all of those sound drool worthy to me, though the chocolope would be my first shot Im guessing, gonna be a tough call Im sure, the land race cross would get me too. Ill probably try one of the Maui fems sometime soon to see what it looks like, will keep ya posted and good luck deciding on those, tough call!

Hope all is good this weekend, now am even more sooo looking forward to trying some ‘Dank Dessert’ from the HJ, that sounds right up my alley, sweet yet funky, :yum: and now…its time for a smoke break…got to see what we have…the Fionas Chem Cake x Strawba the Hutt #1 has got a bunch of sour citrus smells going on, looks and smells, even breaks up almost nothing like the STH mother did, but I do see the Skywalker OG in the #1, the force is stong and sticky!

LOL, I’m stoked maybe I can use a shower scrubber I grew myself.

We’ll see if they turn out to be giants. They’re supposed to grow to hundreds of pounds. Figured I’d give it a go since the county fair last year was dominated by some other local gardener, gotta give her a run for her money. Too bad there isn’t a cannabis category - couldn’t go wrong, either I get a ribbon or I make a new friend with tricks. It’s legal now, why not?

Hilariously, the giant pumpkin/vegetable people are also seed chuckers. http://www.worldclassgardening.com/products/seeds/pumpkin I saw this and for the first time saw seeds as much as cannabis seeds outside of cannabis. There’s tons of websites, people get into it just like this.

About the only real reason I’d ever move to Arizona would be the indefinite growing season, but I could do that other places too. There’s some big tech companies out there but I sure don’t like Phoenix as much as I did 10-15 years ago. The sprawl has been crazy. But a sun room…that seems like something I could have. We need to get a new place in the next few years, so I’m looking at greenhouse designs. My dream of having some landrace sativas ripening up around Christmas with snow on the ground could be reality. Also, we could have some fruit trees and veggies year round. That’s an easier sell to the wife than having real-deal thai is :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Funny again about that connection. I wonder if it’s related to your STS use on the last run? I wouldn’t think there’s much potential for residues to cause an issue, but you were experimenting with that. Appreciate the transparency but I wonder if there’s potential it has a simple answer.

I think Maui Wowie is kinda a blanket strain like Kush or Haze. Could be a 14-week sativa or a 9-week hybrid. Can we ask our buddy that provided them?

I saw some places selling slices of luffa and filled with weird stuff like honey infused goats milk soap lol gettin hippy with it always works out ime, we have a good time at the very least :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I might have to pick up a pack of those too, man, learning something new every day.

And good luck on that Monster Pumpkin :jack_o_lantern:…one huge raised plot, one vine, narrow it down to the biggest pumpkin fairly early and auto water, Im guessing? Im super stoked to grow some beasts this year, the property and I are much closer these days. Been gettin my game face on and buckin up for spring. I think we both could use a real green house, I might try making a simple frame with all the loose crap we have on our property, by some thick clear plastic tarps and whatever it takes for a diy hope house maybe, just something to help for autos and young plants. I too use the fruit trees and exotic plants to sorta kinda lure my lady into a full scale grow op, I mean I will give them all my best shot and hopefully they work out but if not, we know what to use the greenhouse for if all fails. The long running sativas would be awesome and the more I grow and bring my lady big beautiful flowers, even though she doesn’t/rarely consume them, she appreciates the art and life of it all. Even if we do fuss about it sometimes, I know I have her full support, always have. Ive been the one who holds back, but her love could soften the hardest heart. Dang, sorry about the trail off…ramblin comes too easy these days.

Thank you for understanding about the potential herm, I felt bad, I had ment to tell you earlier in the day, then read your post and was like damn, how did he know, happens to be the one he wants to try? It always seems to work like that, I do think it could be stress and light leak induced and would be interested to see if you have the same results outdoors but its hard to go with something questionable over something solid, I get it. I didn’t even think about the sts and that could surely be a culprit as well.

Anyway, I have a few pretty coveted sativa leaning Mephisto autos, just a few fems of each but Id like to hook you and @Herrsquidward with a couple of those as I know you both like the sativas. Seems like anything with Mango Smile or Northern Cheese Haze is creating some incredible hybrids that look like branches on top of branches, big hairy spiders that take a few extra weeks. I need squids addy but Ill get yall some before 4/20 if ya want, its no problem at all, I have been really blessed lately and desire to give back, if anyone else would like some, these beans dont need to be grown and shown or anything like that, not looking for ‘testers’ I test myself but its great to hear others experiences. So if anyone wants some of the latest batch of beans, have got plenty to share.

Yeah, Im not too sure about the Maui Wowie fems, Im out of the house right now, will look when I get back, I think they came from ILGM if Im not mistaken. I personally dont use that bank but some guys swear by it. Ive read too many bad reviews but I do like to see for myself first, so thats what Im doing, trying things that Ive for some reason or another simply decided I know something about when I really dont know shit…lol…Im my worst critic but it gets me through some tough techniques and mind sets. Always seeking true knowledge :100:

Another season will reveal all! Lovin life and wishing you and the rest of the og family a blessed week.

Gettin’ hippie with it! I think of it more as just craft stuff and craft lifestyle. There’s a store a few miles from the little town I live in, couple “hippie” folks live there, they’ve got honey and soap and stuff like that. I’m betting they grow some fire herb too, may ask the guy next time I get a jar of honey. But I love the “made it myself” stuff, like a luffa. Or weed. Or for me, electronics and gadgets.

Monster pumpkin here I come. I’m planning on really upgrading the beds this season. Some sandy loamy stuff from down by the river, some rich forest floor stuff from the mountains. Shitloads of worm castings and compost. Pumice. Been learning way too much about organics and methods. Kinda crazy. Microbes and the whole soil ecosystem. Probably cull most of the melons but definitely going to give them a bigger head start this season. Last year I started them mid-May, I’ll have another month on this year’s vines. My girl thinks I may take it a little too seriously but supports me because I enjoy it, and it’s taken the place of much more dangerous hobbies  And the food is legit from the garden. We just don’t have enough property for it to get too crazy, thankfully. I’m really kinda planning on winding down my career so I can spend more time with my family. It’s in a fantastic place for my age, I don’t need to keep my foot on the career accelerator anymore. It’s almost like it was all part of some plan I wasn’t aware of. Before I ramble you to sleep, the point is I hope to spend more time around the house. And get a bigger property so I can have a proper greenhouse, and some nice trees. And giant pumpkins to crush state fair ribbons :joy:

I ain’t worried about the questionable cross. I’m going to be making some of my own questionable crosses. Hopefully I can make some decent selections, I’ll be posting everything as it goes along so I can make the best picks.

I’ve got plenty of seeds, man. Appreciate the generous offer for sure. But…I don’t know when I can grow all this stuff. I have picked up lots of packs this winter for long-term preservation in the freezer. Lots of heirloom stuff I want to crack in 20 years for a taste of the 90s

On second thought, look at the leaves on that Mango smile cross. I had been thinking about buy a pack of mango smile since I was looking up some of your crosses on the strain guide. Of course, just slid the slider towards sativa, and thought…hmm. They’re in stock at a few of the banks. I’m in a quest for NLD. I’ve listened to a few podcasts where Daz talks with Darkhorse genetics, about the process to generate stable autos from a photo/auto hybrid. Takes them through F4 before release which makes sense. May be fun to take some Mango Smile pollen to whatever sativa I run this summer too.

I don’t remember what episode it was but Daz talks about wanting to make a good fast sativa, I think with Mango Smile. Thought so anyway, I wasn’t paying full attention. Maybe I make sativa fast fems alongside Indiana Bubblegum fast fems this year

Anyway, have a great week, those are beautiful plants. Time for bed here, it’s going to be a long day. Love our rambles here, writing out my thoughts and reading others. Life is good, looking forward to dirty clothes and fresh fruits and herbs from the garden

Lookin good!

Hella Jelly day here in the enchanted state. Going to smoke a corned beef and hopefully have some equally dank ruben sandwiches for dinner.

Just a teaser scope shot from the cured bud this morning.

The result

I found out that 5mL centrifuge capped test tubes are the best joint holders with no equivilent I’ve seen. Way better than the plastic ones that don’t actually seal.

Are those periwinkles? A bunch of species have begun blooming, and it’s awesome. It seems like you see something different after every rainy day. There will probably be one last cold spell, so plan accordingly.

hey Ya, Dendro!!
It’s always always great to see Bobo, taking his human for a walk and play!!! LOL!
So funny to see your plants elevated over small tubs.
I started buying dish pans, that are small, like for campers. The base of my 3 gallon square pots fit in with a inch or 2, extra space all around the pot. Then the sides are 4" to 5" tall. Just could not find deep saucers, that I wanted anywhere.
Now I give them a gallon, of food, tea, or water, and not have to come back to them for 5-7 days.
Makes working my 4 areas, a bit easier.
UPPOTTING today, well after a pahydro run anyway.
Great to see you out of winter hibernation, LOL!

Very good to see yall again too, I hope to be stickin my head back out more often and should be starting up a new thread any day now, happy to hear you guys appreciate the tubs, they are basically reverse engineered AC Infinitys auto watering contraptions that have the nylon wicking material for all day watering.

Here are a few pics of the original product, not very expensive, around 60 bucks for four, no ‘moving parts’, or electricity needed…

Worth it imo if you dont feel like doing any work but so very easy to replicate and/or go bigger for outdoor use.

Basically, as soon as I started using this product and stopped top watering, Ive had roots growing out of brand new fabric pots with some of the fastest plant growth Ive ever seen. This simple technique is the truth! Fixes many common problems in one step and they have taught me alot about some of the things I tend to do wrong or simply overdo very often. Helps the top couple inches of medium stay dry so cuts down on pests, though the plants are able to drink more water than usual and as they need it, so a win win. If you need some LITFA in your life, these will help teach you the way. They obviously raise the plants a few inches up, I almost ran out of space on the last grow so removed them for the last few weeks of the last indoor grow, one plant, Mephisto’s Wedding was so short I had to raise her back up, such a small plant but insanely frosted, but hell, what isnt these days?

But outside? They really got me thinking… so grabbed a few cat litter pans, took the nylon wick from the AC gear, am balancing the 7gal pots on bricks, and the grates help keep everything steady. Works a charm.

On a personal note, Ive still been struggling with bouts of CHS so I’ve picked up a few 1:1 thc/cbd strains and am digging through my collection for any other cbd/cbg/etc. rich cultivars and hopefully with some actual testing down the road, Im really working on bringing ‘Whole Weed’ back(right now its all mostly “white bread” if yoy ask me) and not that it doesn’t already exist, but I personally need something with a nice healthy mix of cannabiniods, as Im unfortunately having to cut out the thc until I or someone else who stuggles with this can help to find a solution or a way to treat this rare disorder. Ive found that autoflower cannabis doesnt cause the symptoms to build as fast as alot of stonger photo periods or concentrates. At this point though, its very hard to know whats what. Been smoking/consuming cannabis for around 30 years and this only just started around a year ago, had my appendix removed and way too many bills to pay before they told me it was cannabis and its taken me awhile to truely believe it but I do think thc is somehow related to the severe symptoms. Sounds like blasphemy to type those words, but I kid you not, I wouldnt wish this on anyone. Well, enough of all that, just wanted to keep it real, cbd gummies definitely helped but they end up costing too much and Im back where I started, purchasing expensive products when I know I can just DIY.

Im going to take a few days to try and catch up with whats going on around here and with all the homies. I pray everyone is doing well and taking care of business, hope to see yall around!

Up front, we have my own, Big Fruity Johnson f1(Banana Berry Muffins x Don Johnson) that god willing, Im taking to f2 this summer along with my BBM x El Chemi Kiwi f1s as well.
The lighter green girl in the back is a Maui Gold(Maui Wowie x Gold leaf) fem from a friend that smells of true old school flowery sweet island vibes.

This here is my first auto male found at f2(sort of), he is (Banana OG x Strawba the Hutt) x (Fiona’s Chem Cake x Strawba the Hutt)

Dusted these three gals with him on 4/20…left to right…Fugue State, Funky Mangifera, and Marly’s Grin

Well, as usual we’ll see what does and doesn’t post…still on a cell phone with shitty internet…we have alot of pics of all things spring and beautiful to share, hopefully these ones go though! Happy Sunday and be safe out there OG Fam :v::green_heart:

Try getting your hands on a 1:1 ratio plant like harlequin. Might help?

I like the Harle Tsu harlequin x sour tsunami a lot. I grab it whenever I find it in extract. If you look it can be found in seed form and if your lucky clone.

Thank you fellas, Im looking into similar strains and will hopefully be able to come up with something close to 1:1 this summer and hopefully it helps, the whole thing is really strange and I definitely have a lot to learn on the entire subject.

For now, just cant stop loving on these girls…

And Bobo said to say Hi but right now he’s hiding out, upside-down, doing absolutely nothing. Hope all is good today OGs.
