There’s a few other plants that are illegal (or used to be now they’re semi-legal to medical conditions) that are being used since eons by the Thais like Khratom which is a tree. The leafs are either chewed as they are and have a very mild, coffee type of effect or none at all to me really or it is being boiled (extracted) and mixed with cough-syrup and coca-cola and called ”Nam Tom” which is just south slang for ”water khratom” or in more elegant english it is the water of the khratom leaf. It is much more potent than just chewing a leaf and the cough-syrup contains - however little - morphine so it’s not really a good thing to drink, with the coke added it is really sweet.
I once got to drink just the raw juice from the khratom leaf, it is a white, milk like liquid that, if not careful, will give you the feeling of amphetamine like side-effects… drumming legs, anxiety and twitchiness. The sweet version that most of them drink is a bit more mellow where I found one .5 liter bottle would give you a mild, up kind of buzz, especially if you like me have a few big Chang beers on the beach and begin to feel tipsy, having .5 liters of Nam Tom will take that alcohol feeling right away, you’ll feel sober but you’d still walk into things as you’re not really sober. Problem is that when you stop drink the Nam Tom, the effects sway from the mildly up kind of thing to a sleeping agent and I fell asleep many times at like four or five thirty in the afternoon. Nam Tom also leaves you a bit slow when waking up from the nap or nights sleep, heavy but not really hung over.
The one thing I definitely don’t like, Lao Khao or rice spirit. It’s like moonshine, strong as fudge and just a few centiliters will make my stomach turn and I get a heat wave sensation. I usually tell the thais that offer me this drink that It’s not for internal consumption, I’d rather put it in my motor-bike and they always laugh…
Two of my favorite Thai flavors, pineapple and rambutan, how I wish to one day find some rambutan tasting weed, it’s the closest thing to a candy flavor I ever got from something 100% natural…
Never even heard of Rambutan. Can you describe its candy like flavor? It’s really interesting looking.
Absolutely epic scenery where you are. A true tropical paradise.
Any new bud porn?
Are there alligators in inland thailand? Crocs near the ocean?
hey @Upstate Rambutan is a very hard thing to describe as to me it doesn’t taste like any other fruit or candy though it’s a very candy like fruit so much so one could easily think fresh rambutan fruit came from a can with syrup as it is so sweet and it has a kind of tingly bubblegum kind of feeling to the flavor. It’s absolutely a lovely fruit and it’s tropical candy in type but it’s not mango or pineapple, it’s more like a really good watermelon but more candy like.
I am not currently in the kingdom so no new pictures from the tropics but maybe I can soon get some indoors done again. Got some of those C99 from Kwik Seeds I think you were the one to recommend me looking that way so those would be interesting to see what they are.
No alitgators naturally but there’s been places that kept wild animals like gators that had some animal escape so I am sure there are a few where there shouldn’t be. No saltwater crocks like northeast Australia though thank god, those are scary things.
Yes that plant was a healthy and strong little seed indeed. The guy who owns the property dug it up and put it out in a corner of a field and forgot about it for a few days/weeks and told me he had to cut it down when it was taller than he was as it was a male. He was so sad when it turned out male as it was really a beautiful plant. Hope no one else of the neighbors had any female plants flowering around at that time…
I will keep you posted on the C99. Do you know anyone who grew them out yet? I tried to get some more information regarding what they are but never got a reply. Thanks for getting my attention to Kwik Seeds. I haven’t grown the seeds I ordered yet but the rest of their service was really good. Between bank days (waiting for funds to transfer) and mail service they must have processed my order instantly when they saw the funds and sent it on the same day as it got here really quick. Nice number of free seeds and they also topped up the bags of seeds I had ordered so I got a few extras in those bags as well as 17 free seeds as per advertised. If the seeds are good I will definitely order from them again. Really good packing of the goods too and I didn’t even pay any extra for stealth or express shipping just the normal postage for international.
Do you know who made the C99 they sell or any information on them? The picture looks to be just the type of C99 I like though but pictures don’t smoke, hehe…
Ahh. Too bad it was a male plant. I find that the volunteers are often special.
Kwik seeds has great service and has been around a long time. All genetics are legit. Angus does his homework, thats for sure. I’ve ordered from him a dozen times or more. Service, as you say, is excellent. Prices are reasonable, with great freebies.
They have some very interesting landraces and heirlooms.
I read or was told that their c99 is very close to the original and is very good… From Spain I think.
hehe yea would have been better for it to grow some smoke in the corner of that field where he put it but alone there’s no point in growing a male.
Yes I always enjoyed reading and also listening to Angus he really has a deep interesting in cannabis and its culture and I will be making another order with Kwik soon again and I can’t wait to pop the ones I got. Nice to hear about C99 being a nice version, the best bit about ordering from him is that the offering is very different from almost any other seed outlet which is nice. Not the same sites selling the same brands or a variety thereof. There’s a few things I might pick up that I would maybe never have looked at and it’s nice to see not only a variety in name but a true diverse offering. Damn I better stop before I sound like an ad.
I went through my seed stash the other day and found 5seeds labeled with Thai. I remember being in the bulldog Coffeeshop in Amsterdam grabbing small bag of Thai. Within the weed I found these 5 seeds.
I remember the weed looking like pressed dark outdoor weed with a not so pleasant taste. I assumed it could be imported so I kept the seeds.
Do you think it’s likely that something worthwhile comes from the seeds?
DoNT know til you drop them, if it was in coffee shop it should be Quality and that’s a good description of the loose Thai we would get late 70’s and early 80’s. Always had a few bagseed per ounce. Wish I still had that jar of seeds…
I’ve had 40 year old bag seed sprout, right now I’m trying to make seeds with three ‘74 MTF from ACC. Have 2 as teens and one wetted off and shriveled.
Just flipped them and I have one stretcher and one not, hoping for a breeding pair…
Can only agree with everyone and yourself there hehe only way to really know is to grow it. Hope they pop. Pressed weed is not good for the seeds I know I have had less than stellar ratios with some pressed thai but some do fine, hope you’re lucky!
I know it’s an old thread but here goes yes I do smoke Thai I have a nice Thai lady about to finish sorry for the jungle but that’s where she lives she likes it will be chopping soon
