Doc D cannabis seeds

That Bananastan looks awfully similar to the Ethiopian Flame pheno I have going.
So I’m going to say we both have an Ethiopian Banana leaning pheno.
I’ll get a pic up tomorrow.
Spider mites suck, glad you won the battle.
Everything looks nice and green :green_heart:

Thanks. As of now she smells the same as the rest of the Afpak crosses I’m running which is sweet and slightly skunky and musty.
Curious to see how similarly structured she is to your Ethiopian flame. How’s the smells on yours so far? @Vagabond_Windy

The Bananastan Remixes I ran were similar in smell to yours a little more floral and fruit with the musty funky
The Ethiopian Flame I have is sour tropical fruit and banana. I need to pop more of those. But this one is very good and very vigorous and potent enough. I’ll post a pic of her current status in the morning

I can see the similarities. I think your leaves are thinner than mine so probably more Ethiopian influenced than mine. Hopefully as they flower and ripen the terps will become more mother dominant as doc says. Thanks for the comparison pics. @Vagabond_Windy

Bandaid haze 7 x beastie boy #13
Here’s the one I suspect of being more beastie boy leaning. Very floral nose like actual fresh flowers and definitely a little musty too. Taste was definitely off this time, it’s lost some of its freshness and at the same time might still be a little on the wet side. All I could taste was bitter resin for the most part which is not how it was the first couple weeks of being jarred, this was my favorite taste at first very perfumey in a good way. I’m hoping the flavor improves because I really love the plant itself and I’m getting ready to take cuts of the re-veg’d mother. Anyway, there’s a slight immediate effect when smoking this, but the wave pretty much hits you once you start doing whatever it is you’re doing. And if you’re not doing anything it’ll put you to sleep if you let it, but I wouldn’t say it’s sleep inducing. I generally like this one a lot but the taste sucks right now so I’m gonna wait another week or two before condemning it. In this case the plant checks all the boxes but if i don’t enjoy the actual smoking part then that’s pretty much a deal breaker. I think it was wise to pollinate this one with the sweet pink grapefruit bx1 x agent orange and 9lb hammer instead of my hazy stuff cause that shit would just be too gnarly I think. The #20 was pretty haze forward in every way and I used that one to take the hazy pollen.
#20 pictured below this was early on right after dry trim so the bud’s not as pretty now. Still smokes fire though. Very strong electric buzz on this one, not as pleasant as the #1 which is a very steady, increasing wave. This one comes down on you pretty hard. I dig it. I’m a lot more keen on this one right now especially since the recent disappointment in #13. This pic is before jarring so it’s not this pretty anymore but I do love the shape of these buds. Really leafy but a lot of trichome density.

Could someone tell me if the seeds being offered are f2’s or f1’s? It doesn’t seem to say at least on great lakes. Thanks

Happy hunting ! Bandaid x afpak should be real nice. Lots of fire in docs work

Looks to me like everything Doc has for sale on GLG are f1s (if you mouse-over the image on GLG it’ll generally show you the strain info sheet, which in this case includes the parents).

Thank you. I did see that it just didn’t specifically say that the seeds being sold were f1s. For example it lists the the parents used in the crosses and if they were f1s. I would assume they are but you know what they say about assuming

Doc D is a breeder who actually does things the right way, so if there’s something other than an F1 being sold, it will be clearly marked. GLG also makes sure to use any description they receive with the seeds.

The last seeds Doc D sold that weren’t F1s were Lemon Thai F5 reproductions, which he made from Lemon Thai F4 seeds. I don’t recall if those made it to GLG, but they’ve been on his monthly list.

Don’t forget the Nepali Watermelon HP reproduction, which also didn’t make it to GLG

Thanks again for the great info. It’s funny how we all look at things differently. To me with where I am now , no keepers. I am looking for some more genetic stability. I personally wished some of these beans were f3 to f5 to get that genetic stability. I can only grow 12 at a time and looking for a keeper. I guess thats why I wished it was clear. Some people like enjoy that variation where as I who doesn’t have a keeper mom want something more stable for now.

I did read about his nepali watermelon hp and it might be a good fit. Do any banks carry these beans? Thanks for helping me sort through his offerings guys

In my limited experience with Doc’s gear, it all seems plenty stable. Haven’t seen any intersex tendencies (although something did herm during my Mexican Melon/Black Triangle/Chem Fuego grow, not sure which plant it was)(also had a couple light leaks that I wasn’t aware of until afterwards, so, yeah, odds are real good it was my fault haha). Obviously, there’ll be some variation between plants in any f1 line (f1’s making up the majority of Doc’s releases), but “stability” hasn’t been a concern.

I think what you meant to say was “uniformity,” which is usually hopefully the result of working lines to, like, f3, f4, whatever. But, as you alluded to, I like finding different-looking/growing/smoking plants from the initial f1 crosses. Sometimes super-uniform plants from something like an f4 line is cool, but I think the fun is in the not knowing. Plus, most “breeders” don’t know what the fuck they’re doing, so even if you get some seeds that they’re calling “f4” or whatever, the resultant plants still end up all over the place. It’s virtually impossible to create a stable, true-growing “f4” line (or whatever) when you’re starting with two multi-multi-polyhybrid parent plants.

Also, with worked lines, you don’t know what the breeder’s goals were. Maybe they worked a line to isolate a trait that you don’t really dig. You never know.

Others maybe find different, but what I have found in general is that F1’s are great productive plants that are great to grow and where most of my best plants I’ve found have come from. More inbred lines (f3+, s1+, bx’s) are great to breed with as the genetics pass on a little more reliably and predictably but I tend to find less amazing plants in those lines. So personally if I’m looking for a keeper I want to hunt f1’s, and if I am looking to make something new it’s nice to find a couple in bred lines that have parts of what I’m looking for and cross those and inbreed that new line from there.

And since you were asking about f2’s, any f2 line is gonna have the most variability, the least uniformity etc etc etc. The f2 generation is where alllllll of the recessive genes make their appearance.

This thread is pure GOLD! Thanks to everyone who has contributed so much! This thread helped me discover Doc D and is the main reason I joined OG.
Starting a 4x4 tent just to try out some longer flowering strains. For the first run I have Bandaid haze and BLRxNWHP in veg. A bit nervous for these bad girls due to stretch and space, but, my Momma didn’t raise no bitch!
Plan is for 9 plants in the 4x4. Thinking only a 4 week veg or so. Started a grow diary if anyone wants to follow along. Much more to come!

Got 4/6 success for the Bandaid haze and 5/6 on the BLR/NWHP including one that’s looking like a reject.

Why? Are you in a rush? Give ‘em a proper veg, they’ll turn out much better.

Because I’m SHOOK! Not in a hurry. I think it was Bodhi’s recommendation on the NWHP to grow out a mother, clone it and flip the clones directly to 12/12 after rooting! Wtf am I getting myself into?! I’m all ears for suggestions!
