They do keep any seeds from getting lost/mixed! That’s the only reason i bought the hanging basket, but it is nice lol I’ve been hanging my flower all my life, I’m not about to go changing now
I love those racks, I have 2-2 foot 8 tiers and 2-3 foot 4 tiers.
Quickie Update!
Tomorrow is repotting day!
I have 5 clone Moms going into air-rooting planters to keep them manageable
( 2 Frankenstein, 2 different phenomes of Black Sugar Rose, and Cannatonic )
We also have quite a nice assortment of youngsters still in their Solo Cups
(and rightfully, starting to complain) that are going into 2 gallon planters as well…
They will eventually go into 5 gallons, I just do not have the soil available to me right now…
There are 2 -Molokai Frost, 2 - 24K , 2- Longbottom Leaf, 2 - Pink Lemonade (the one didn’t want to germinate, but I didn’t give upon her!) 3 -Orange Grove, a Gigabud (another one that took forever to come up!) and a G13 x Hash plant that was part of my Solo-cup competition grow, but I yanked her because we didn’t have a lot of room…(not shown)
I still have 5 going in the Solo Contest… I don’t know If I’ll stay in the contest then reveg the best of them after harvest… or if I’ll bow-out an re-plant these…I’ll decide tomorrow when I take another look…
I’m having to really keep an eye on them 2-3x a day… and they are in the basement-- the stairs seem to get taller/steeper every day!! LOL!
Besides, they are starting to get rootbound and yellowing a bit… Maybe I’ll just ‘‘thin the herd’’ down to 2 for the contest tomorrow…plant the others so they have a better chance…
Eh-- I’ll sleep on it…
I’ll be following along! I’m really interested to see how the Molokai Frost develops. I’ll be running that my next go around I think👍
Really excited for the transplant and I will also be transplanting my Auto fem Toof Decay and I think it’s looking great and I hope you have a great day Happy Growing The Doc
Ah up potting… always fun.
Ok girl… time to see if you can still teach me a few tricks like you did 20yrs ago.
Questions:
When you up pot, do you use anything for direct root contact…
EX: Bigfoot, Mykos, … some require direct root contact when transplanting, some like Mykos is water soluble and I do both. I seemed to get much better root growth using the Mykos and was easier.
Any changes in soil? is your mix any different and what soil?
Any tricks regarding foods, what you feed before transplant to assist if anything. what you use for shock if anything… again. just picking your brain.
When I was running clones, I was picky on mom’s and only ran strains that the cuttings could root without the need of a humidity dome. Just push it into dirt and walla… roots in 5 to 10 days. the ones that wilted after a day, I moved on.
I was amazed at the strains that would do just fine without and made life sooo much easier…
keep on rocking it and your finished buds look great. gonna have to sneak me a tiny taste, I’ll do the same… hehe.
I’m curious about the answer as well and I have been trying to get some better quality stuff and I have some mykos and wondering about it too… But I have Auto’s any different hope all is going well and looks good
Unfortunately-- when it comes to soil- we are really limited on choices as we have to go with whatever we can find locally…
Used to be we SWORE by Promix BX …mixed in a bit of granular organics, water-in with some Superthrive and Mycos… ready to Rock-n-Roll.
But we had quality issues with the last 2 blocks of Promix we purchased; even found a PENNY in one bag along with all the sticks and algae.
Luckily, LOWES started carrying Sunshine Mix #4- a better choice IMO… love it…
BUT: we’re down to about 1/3 of a block-- not enough for this project; AND No one carries big bags/blocks of soil here on the winter, and We can’t afford $50 shipping on a $50 bag of soil.
Thankfully, the local grow shop (Very small- family owned) has some soil.
Ocean Forrest, too hot for us… Coco fiber, M3- which I LOVE but can not afford for this many plants, and Happy Frog.
SO, am mixing the Happy Frog with what is left of the Sunshine Mix, skipping the granular organics, but using some powdered Compost tea, and going with the Mycos and Superthrive.
Been a bit ‘under the weather’ and playing the whole ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’’ thing…
But it IS happening sometime today…
Will keep ya posted!
Hey you 2… hope your staying warm up there… I think you did pretty good with your Autos… great filler plants.
You seem to enjoy the solo cup contests, used to do them a lot, very fun…
I think you made the right choice with your soil mix. If you ever want to use a dry mix additive that isn’t to expensive… check out Plant Starter Plus by Espoma… the plus is the Mychor… used to use it when I ran Coco…
Heard a few complaints about them bails by Promix… sticks, rocks… little girls… hahaha.
Do you ever reuse soil? when I did I used a product called hygrozyme but it got to costly$… like you I’m trying to keep costs down and production up…
Careful with over using Superthrive in flower… but I love that stuff.
Feel better you 2…
Good advice on the Superthrive lol I use it sparingly on flowering gals also. Superthrive has been one of my regular tools for a couple of decades now. I’ve added the BBP to my arsenal of regular treatments.
The yield is up on everything I’ve used BBP on. The only ‘down-side’ is, in ddition to making the plants explode in size lol, BBP also makes the plants go longer in flower.
We use Espoma flower Tone, haven’t seen the plant starter plus before, have to look for that! LITERALLY just bought Espoma a week ago!
Used to use hygrozyme…you’re right…the price got ridiculous! I’m gonna try recycling soul…was told to start with a few days of peroxide…then adding back all the good stuff… gonna try it…couldn’t be any worse than that last batch of Promix that screwed up my plants!!!
We let all of our used soil mix set for at least 6 months while we add compost to, and amend it, to build it back up (and sometimes make it even better.)
Super thrive. You really got to be careful with that like John said.
I hate to say it as soon as one gets finished with that dirt it goes right back in another one. I don’t even wait I did it one time. Roots. And no I don’t care. Had way too much dirt sitting around. Then one of my containers fell over about crush me against the wall. lol that
You’re right about it takes time for that stuff to reset. I do add microbes. I will use organic. But if you don’t use it up all the way smells like something died. Then I start getting ants. I do like the worm castings. I will put blood meal in there sometimes.
Been using it for 20+ years without a problem…I know some people do not like it-- but IMO helps our grow…some of our conditions (Water etc…) benefit from it… use it mostly in cloning and repotting…
At one time I grew organic. I used what I could get from Home Depot. I was a topper for years. Make tea was something I wanted to forget. If I have to much of a smell like organic products like I use I’ll get ants. I use microbes in all my dirt. The last i ran for two years. Got some major bugs a few years back.
@ Hemp IF you can find it… there are 2 products I HIGHLY recommend if you want to do 100% organics…
1st is Roots Terpine tea powder… The other is Papas’ Perfect Poop …
Papa’s is an organic powder that can be mixed-in, ,top dressed, or brewed into a tea…
But I prefer to mix it in/top dress then use Root’s tea powder for regular use/tea-- just mix with water-- bubble a few hours and water it in…
Thank you. Your grow looks sweet as usual.
If you go to Xtreme gardening dot com you can get a nice box of samples. Including Mykos for the cost of shipping. It’s a good amount of mykos
My sample lasted two years.
Thanks…been better in years past…
A LOT of issues this past year… pH meters, water issues, dealing with crap soil the store had outdoors for god knows how long and had algae and other crap in it…
Here’s a couple older grows-- what we’re aiming for again…Gotta do some serious re-vamping and replace some equipment…plus there’s a tent in the room now-- so space is different
