Draig and Lady Zandra's New Grow for 2023--

I just got a new ph meter. It adds up. Nothing is as cheap as it once was. Got a few zipper doors coming. I’m excited about those.

You grow with high pressure sodium lights? I got super high one evening over the summer and impulsed orded a few ballasts and a hood on sale. A week later and I was thinking why the hell I ordered dated equipment with all these cool running leds now. Doh 🤦I keep telling my that all the best herb I’ve ever smoked was under hps, which is true.

Have had great success with HPS…and on such a tight budget last few years, can’t afford to switch…tho our new tent is fitted with 3 100w leds… we veg under a combo of compact floros and leds… used to be shop lights fitted with grow bulbs!!!

I have 7, 24-watt strip LEDs on a frame I threw together with pvc plumbing that I’ve been growing a single plant in a 2x2 foot tent with. So far the results have been good, bout 2 weeks til harvest.

I don’t know if it’s just me since it’s been a while since I’ve not smoked LED or sun grown herb, I just remember all the hps bud back in the day had flower that seemed like it wasn’t overly dense like I see now. Maybe just rose shaded glass I’m wearing but I swear there’s just different about LED that doesn’t compare to what I used to have.

Out of curiosity what brand bulbs do you use?

Usually we use Hortilux–have used generic GE from Lowes in a pinch…

I’ve heard awesome things about Eye Hortilux and plan on getting some myself. The fact they’re American made and produced in my state is a big plus for me.

check out 1000bulbs dot com. they have every bulb you can think of and I used to get my GE 600w hps bulbs from them for $15. worked great, lasted forever.

You guys will bounce back just fine… not easy with Draig just laying around and not helping… hahaha. nah, life changes and what was easy is now a bit more challenging, but so worth it. Took me a while to go LED’s…

Looking forward to seeing what’s up next. ps… I’d be watching the mail soon too… I’ll email you D…

I just popped in to say, I’ve had an account at 1000bulbs, since their very early days, long before they had growing gear. They are excellent electrical source when we all, (well us cheap guys anyway) were building our HID’s from parts, and using shop maintenance repair kits to build HPS/MH/CMH’s.
T5 tubes I got for a 10th of the cost elsewhere.
Just look around, it’s miles better now.
Sorry to barge in, the plant pics got me!! Just beautiful work!!

SORRRY ALL!
Haven’t been keeping up on this-- what with the Solo cup contest, making AOG and Turkish seeds- and starting the Celtic Stone…
BUT-- we got a boy in the bunch that I HAVE to show off…
I WILL take more photo’s soon as I get a chance… these plants are gonna have a long veg, a LOT of training, and NOT get flowered until AFER the Celtic stone is pollenated–
Don’t want to take any chances of cross pollination where it isn’t wanted!!

This is the male Orange Grove that decided he’s popping pods whether we go 12/12 or not… so we put him upstairs in Draig’s tent with the male Long-bottom Leaf (Sorry…didn’t document him…he was a small, ‘ok’ specimen- but did get a bit of pollen from him!)
This boy is only about 2- 2.5ft tall- and all bud…
He’s got some beautiful color in the individual flowers-- they only seem to get the color when they open!
Will be ‘shaking his tree’ every day starting today!!

That is one sexy boy… feeling that way about him is making me uncomfortable though so lets move on… haha.
Girl, you’d better slow down a wee bit. got a lot of pots boiling it seems …

Hey, what method do you use to collect his pollen… you mention giving him a shake but he’s not around any ladies atm right? you have a pollen collector?

awesome specimen

Yep-- not a lot unless you remove a leaf… he’s gonna be a good ‘Dad’-- if his offspring take after him in stature, we’ll be happy!
