ELG's Strawberry Banana Seed Run Attempt

Well the :strawberry::banana: is looking nice again!

Yesterday I went to water the plant, but before, I top dressed it with some chicken shit pellets and added some soil on top. I hope I didn’t feed it too much, we’ll see…

The plant looks pretty happy. It has so many pistils everywhere it may have started flowering. According to internet there’s till 14 hours of day light in my area so I don’t know, maybe it’s flowering since it almost died. Oh and since it moved outside I noticed it produced narrower leafs, indoor it had fat leafs. It’s crazy, we have a decent chance of achieving the initial goal. That’s if the clones I took start giving me some action.

The clones: 2 of the new ones look in top shape, the rest of the new ones are meh and one of the old ones seem to start living again.

Old clones:

Nothing special, still thirsty. You can see what I was talking about last time, the fat leafs at the bottom and fine ones at the top of the plant.

Edit: Oh and I also put my silver wires to work and sprayed the old clones once to see what would happen.

Well the day I sprayed thee old clones is the day I noticed that they started growing again! I stopped spraying because I’m changing shifts at work and need to kind of sync the light schedule with my work so I’m able to spray twice, once when lights turn on and once before lights go off. I gave them a bit of chicken poop pellets.

The old clones getting better:

The new clones did not change. Surprisingly the piece of branche I put in the shot glass grew like crazy under my kitchen window:

Before

After

And finally the plant outside:

Did you plant, grow the branch? Or is the last pic it!? Nice!

The last pic is it! I don’t think I’ll be planting the branch, but I can use it as an indicator of root development for the new clones. Now that I see new growth on the old cuttings I’m too excited and want to start flowering.

Looks like she really enjoyed the rain the past few days.

So I spoke with the landlord and he’ll be selling the house in about a year or 2, so in the end there won’t be any visits and all this tripping was for nothing. I’m saying this because we’re in September in 2 days and the plant isn’t flowering yet. According to the breeder it’s a 9 week strain so it may very well never finish in my climat. So I’m thinking that maybe it’s a good idea to finish it inside. We’ll see…

That’s good news bro, I’m happy for you. Moving can be extremely stressful and disorienting, even in the best times. I hope my landlord decides the same.

Plant looks great. Good thing you kept it in the pot, lol. If you have to finish it indoors, make sure you keep it quarantined. Never know what could be lurking on it…

Thank you! Yeah I hate moving and looking for a place. I’ll definitely be looking out for pests, for the moment I think only spiders like my plant.

The disaster:

I went to check the plants and I started bugging hard. That’s what I saw

I though oh the hygrometer is broken, because 99%rh is basically water right. Then I touched the wall and it was wet! The f*cking humidifier ran non stop overnight when I turn it on. I was able to bring it back to around 50-60% after drying everything.

Then I go to check the new clones and guess what I see @Oldtimerunderground ? One of those white monsters that people fight all the time, was chilling on a leaf! I freaked out and tossed all the new clones… I don’t need that kind of problem and don’t even need the clones anymore now that the original clones are good. That means the mother will stay outside for the remainder of it’s life. I also inspected the old clones and they seem to be clean.

Not sure anymore if making seeds will be possible. What’s sure is that the colloidal silver treatment and 12/12 starts tonight. The action finally begins.

Its been 2 days since the flip and the clones have been sprayed twice a day with homemade CS. The pistils turned brown ans shriveled up so I guess it’s working.

Okay, so a few things happened… Yesterday I was thinking about how I could have been able to keep one of the 2 clones female or just spray like half of the nodes to at least make some seeds but for sake of not loosing my chance I sprayed both just in case one doesn’t make it.

This morning I woke up and it still bugged me so I went and grabbed 2 more cuttings from the mother. And… I got some rooting hormones… because i’m getting impatient and it’s cheap. So I’ll change the title of the thread from " elgs organic strawberry banana seed run" to “elgs strawberry banana seed run attempt” since it’s no longer fully organic.

First since I already know the mother is not clean, I execute PROTOCOL 0 by @JoeCrowe . The protocol says to cut every leaf and only leave the meristem (is that how you spell that?) But I left some leafs because I’m thinking it may help since it’s flowering.

30 mins in 8 ph straight tap water held submerged by a silicon funnel, I cut the lower leafs after the bath.

After I’m done potting them I go check on the sprayed/old clones what do I see?

White translucid mother f*cker

And I looked around a little and holy shit there were a lot all of a sudden. They were all on the rim of the pot. It looked like they came out just after I watered the plants. On the 2nd pic we can see a web, so are they spider mites? (Pardon the noobery) Anyway I just cut the old clones, threw away the soil, washed the pots and saucers and protocol 0’d them. Here you can see a drowned motherf*cker

Everyone after the bath

Let them chill for a few hours and of course I forgot to water the old clones… I’m lucky if I manage to make at least one seed.

Oh and on like day 4 of flip+CS leafs on one old clone started to mutate like a taco pointing upward and downward on another leaf.

At this point I don’t know what to do but to just keep trying until they all die or I get infested.

hopefully that’s wiped them out! I use the vegetable sprayer to rinse them as well. I usually pull off all the leaves, but I’m not sure it’s required. I’ve never tested leaving them on, except with the pelargonium and that worked out fine, no bugs.

Here’s an update on my fathers plants. He told me both times he up potted the plants he gave them chicken manure from his chicken, raw egg, banana peals and waters them every few days with yeast water.

11 fingers first time I see this in my life

Its his first time seriously growing anything and he’s killing it. Crazy! Straight up humiliating me :joy:

It’s time for a little update. It’s been around 10 days since I started spraying and I see a bit of change, it looks like it started flowering but I can’t tell if I see balls yet. I’m curious to see if the fact that I cut the plant while it was being induced to flower and being reversed at the same time will affect the offspring.

The old clones

The mother at the guerrilla is officially flowering (taken 3 days ago)

Can’t belive it’s been only 3 months, feels like 3 years…

Funny bonus, here’s the night vision function on my phone. I also played a bit with the visual effects so we see something instead of a random green spot. Took the pic this morning before sun rise. We can see each main branch with the leafs all droopy since I didn’t water it in 2 days.

I see balls🤞. Since I can count the number of balls on my fingers so I’ll have to be careful to collect as much as I can. And sprayed them for the last time tonight.

Finally some good news. Both old clones have officially rooted!

It’s pretty funny how the roots are growing up. Maybe because of the bags I leave on them. I don’t want to stress the clones so I’m just leaving the bag on them almost all the time and also that way the fan doesn’t blow the pollen away once it drops.

We can’t see super well but there a few ball sacks and some female parts not fully converted? We’ll see…

Everything is going as planned for now. I’ll have to be very careful at collecting as much pollen I can. Oh and I also cheated I sprayed them for 2 more days since I already had the CS ready. Now I completely stopped, I don’t want to risk the water destroying all my work.

Now for the star of the show!
