Declassification would also help people who want to use cannabis, but can’t do to thier jobs, people with CDL’s
Oh of course
If they just treat like the alcoholic laws
Funny you say that, I feel like the word “cannabis” was a nefarious change in its own right. I feel like there was an inorganic push to use it right around california’s legal recreational, but maybe that’s just when I started paying attention. It’s like big corps wanted to soften the image to investors/the public while gaining control over its perception, so they psyched us out by replacing the words we use right from under our noses. Kinda like the reverse of when they pushed the word marijuana back in the reefer madness era. Even 60yo+ hippies have been talking to me about pot and suddenly joke “oops, I guess it’s ‘cannabis’ now”, so I don’t feel like a young whipper snapper who just wasn’t around to get it. Definitely inorganic.
And as someone who, thanks to the medical system, has very rarely had to deal with dealers, they really are sketchy as hell Now don’t get me wrong, there are laidback stoner types you can tell love to smoke and just sell a little here and there to make some cash (I think of james franco from pineapple express, the archetypal hippy). Just chill people who treat people how they want to be treated, like any other normal person. Then there are the guys in it for business who have big sensitive egos; they love to hype themselves up, put others down, and relentlessly seek social status. They don’t want to look cool, they need to look cool, knowledgeable…to be on the top of whatever social hierarchy they find themselves in…the natural wanna-be leader type…the kinds of guys who constantly wear sunglasses or baseball caps, who use words like “the game”, give themselves nicknames, and seem by all standards to be the small fish, small pond version of the corporate suit businessman. The kinds of guys who put vitamin e oil in vape carts, or lead in childrens toys, lace buds with fent, and stomp on hash. The only difference is suits cheat, steal, backstab, and hurt people the legal way while the dealer kind rips your plants and calls you a phony Or puts a gun to your head. The problem is the dealers are putting on suits. They’re coming for our rights to get at our wallets. They’re used to doing things under the table and they’re joining up with bigger, sketchier people (the corps). Sketchy is sketchy no matter what rung of the ladder somebody’s on, because they can always climb higher.
Absolutely. Removing it from Schedule 1 would make things a lot easier. The worst part is re-scheduling or outright de-scheduling cannabis would not require an act of Congress; the DEA could do it with a few keystrokes and signatures. In fact, the DEA considered doing exactly that a few years ago, but decided against it.
At this point, any cop with even half a brain knows how absurd cannabis prohibition is. It took the threat of de-funding to get them to back off even a little, though. Every weed bust they make makes them look that much more authoritarian and foolish, and they know it.
Forget the drug companies which only want patentable product, what about Big Tobacco? I’m sure Altria wants in on this action. They already know more about curing than any of us will ever know and they have incredible equipment and facilities available.
If they legalize nationwide you can probably kiss home growing goodbye. And all that will be available for the consumer will be the Bud Lite or Heineken equivalents. Oh wait, that is already the case here in legal MA, but at least they let you grow up to 12 plants per household.
Bottom line though, I will always grow for myself now that I know what I am doing and have a nice library of genetics. No one will ever take it away from me. If necessary I will go the micro cab route and keep it all ultra stealthy.
Except no matter who is in power it’s the same tune. The current administration campaigned on things that haven’t come to pass even though we’re in year 2. Now it’s “we’re waiting until after the midterms.” I’m not holding my breath
Edit: my comment isn’t meant to be for or against any party* all I mean is there is an unholy alliance that seems to be a constant at that federal level, no matter their political affiliation. I’m of the mind they’re all drinking and laughing at us behind closed doors
The more ubiquitous cannabis becomes, the less enforcement there will be. Technically, distilling alcohol is illegal, but when was the last time you heard about someone getting arrested for that? Plus, the more hemp grown in the USA, the less anyone is going to care about, or even notice, cannabis plants in general. Who’s to say high-THC genetics haven’t slipped through the cracks and found their way into commercial hemp?
Sorry, just thinking aloud.
Not from the USA, so I dont have experience on legal aspects, but growing in a country where its illegal(kinda) I can say that the best thing that could happen is that hemp really becomes a thing, which it should be, as it has a million uses, so it becomes more normal, nowadays its slowly getting in with hemp seed oil and that but still, the most important thing is that people mind their fucking bussiness! Why someone can care so much that they neighbour has some weed plants? Too much free time I see there Karen, when people stop being nosy we are going to be really free, if you are not selling and you are growing for yourself shouldnt be no problem.
In the end I think its more important that it gets in culturally. If everyone got rid of the stigma they have, no one would care, it would be another plant, which is what it is. I guess still a long run
As long as I can suck air, I’ll grow some cannabis plants.
It’s my way to stay healthy, and it’s a great work out for us moldie oldies.
I’m with you brother! Everyone just mind your business and we’ll mind ours.
The US Constitution needs an amendment that goes something to the effect of “No activity conducted by and among willfully consenting adults, on private property and beyond the perception of the public, shall be considered a crime.” Sorry, I don’t speak Legalese, but you get the idea.
Well we may start to see who’s prediction is more correct.
What was your prediction again?
What was mine…I forget…LOL
i still aint votin for his demented ass
Lol me too
The ball is rolling now though
.
No politics
What is going to happen , is THC will be descheduled. Then they will add an adendum to the Farm Bill to include all cannabis and cannabis derivatives.
It needs to happen.
Everything as a child I was thought about weed I knew was a lie.
They had head shops. Most people really didn’t know what it look like. I think it’s one of the biggest enslavement of humanity. I put it right there with slavery. The doctors the pharmaceutical companies they can make mistakes but we cannot.
It is an attack against poor people.
It needs to be legal. It is legal. They are the ones breaking the law.
My prediction that the feds would legalize before TX was spot on.
Personally, I don’t care what they do as long as home grow is allowed and protected. We have medical and Rec legal here, but neither group can grow at home and its depressing knowing that most elderly people who go the dispensary route, have to decide on either the $500 ounce of mediocre meds, or groceries…
It’s a plant… naturally occurring… and nothing else has to be done other than grow, dry, cure, enjoy.
[speaking basics] hopefully things lighten up and they relax a bit on the cannabis laws, let the big players make their millions… just leave the little growers alone.
