Federal legalization in the USA, what does the future hold for cannabis?

Something like that, most likely. What matters is the multi-million-dollar budgets for cannabis enforcement will be no more.

I personally am not sure they will not need enforcement.
If such a thing as the black market will still exist, they will wanna crack down on it, no doubt.

Will home growers be viewed as the black market?
That remains to be seen.
I am hoping things go well, but the govt. always fucks shit up, someway, somehow, they will do it again here.

I hope not, but if I were a betting man…

My man!!!

I agree… I’m in a legal state… and people here and there get nailed to the frigging wall for black market sales… I mean they’re dumb for getting caught imo… greed… wanting to do too much at 1 time (sales) gets ya every time… what ever happened to keeping in an inner circle and just not trying to make a fortune of people? Anyway… they’ll deffo be more strict than before on the black market now… higher fines… higher sentences… ability to do so being is it is legal… and jails and prisons are a tad opened up for business… I hate control over us…

Well said!
Very sad indeed.
Is cannabis really legal if folks are still doing hard time?

So it would seem, all those people that said legalization would prevent folks from going to jail for a plant did not consider the fact folks will still go to jail for a plant just for stepping out side the lines.

If you don’t play their game you still go to jail for a plant.

I personally feel things could have been soo soo much better.

But this sorta stuff happens when you jump on the first deal that is offered.
Personally, I would have held out for a proper form of legalization.

For the people by the people and of the people.
Not for the $$$$$$, by the $$$$$ and of the $$$$$.

I doubt they’d have let it happen bro… but I’m thinking once federal that all changes

Again, I cant help but look at nicotine vaping for a roadmap on how the Fed deals with trying to regulate things.

They are basically regulating small folks right out of business. They set the bar so high that only the Billion dollar companies can afford a seat the table. I.e. the FDA is handing over vaping to Big Tobacco, few others can afford the hurdles.

The Feds will do the same with weed. I dont know which sector will become most predominant, but I predict that only Big Tobacco, Big Ag, or Big Pharm will be able to satisfy Gov regulations. And those regulations will ultimately prevent the little guy from doing anything but buying retail. Got to fund the whole fiasco, and if you cant tax it you cant pad the Gov coffers.

I would have to agree here.

And there is the problem with home growers.
They are not paying taxes.

When the FDA first published their “Deeming Regulations” for vaping I set about obtaining enough pure nic to last me and my wife for life. Now, you cant buy pure nic anymore.

About that time I doctored up a coffee mug, still use it…

I agree. Once it is federally legal they will shut down any home growers. Big business doesn’t like competition and the government wants to make sure they get every tax dollar from the small guy it can. We will be nothing but modern day bootleggers. If we are allowed it will have to be a low thc % so we can’t compete with the big guys who are lobbying the politicians. That’s my thoughts anyway

We know this to be true, past history shows it has happened in the past.
I think we are fooling ourselves if we think somehow this will be different.

That is the way I see things too.
We vote for legalization and then have to go back underground to keep doing what we were doing before legalization.

I see this as a simple sellout. :money_mouth_face:

This is already being tried in some places. :unamused:

Your thoughts are very similar to mine.
Most folks don’t see it this way though.

Good to see some like minded folks round here.

That makes me wonder if the tens of thousands of IRS agents about to be hired will be the ones responsible for enforcing new (yet equally draconian) cannabis laws. It doesn’t matter that it will cost more to hire them than they’ll ever get in tax revenue; the job of the IRS is often frightening people into submission, and they’ll be looking to make some examples. Even in the decades following the repealing of prohibition, there were still agents out looking for stills. On the other hand, it may still be illegal, but people make moonshine even to this day and no one cares.
Remember that laws are no more effective than those tasked with enforcing them. The fact is many local law enforcement don’t give a damn unless they’re ordered to give a damn, and large amounts of government money are involved.

As I said earlier in this post. If you live in a state that is campaigning to take away rights instead of equal rights. Those states are going to see “what’s happening” in NV like @buckaroobonsai said happened in his state. Oregon will protect our Homegrower’s right to grow their meds without fear of imprisonment. We will also pioneer those rights with other states. Stay Safe :peace_symbol: VOTE VOTE VOTE

Clear as can be @shag. Follow the $. Local big dispo clown got caught bribing a supervisor (who killed himself) for a favorable vote. Lost one dispo license over it. Everyone sueing someone over it. He’s doing hard time. But the A-hole has been allowed to buy the controlling interest in another big local cannabis comp company, including a dispo! So the cool boutique local gal gets hosed bu the guy making money from prison?5
Couldn’t make this shit up.

All that needs to be done is to remove/redefine the definition of 27 CFR § 72.11

“Commercial Crime. … Addiction to narcotic drugs and use of marihuana will be treated as if such were commercial crime.”

“Person. An individual, trust, estate, partnership, association, company or a corporation.”

Why argue who gets the better stale bread or better cell accommodations? More flair? The truth is most people are simply… ens legis.

I’m really worried about where this goes from here…Because Federal trumps state law, I’m really worried about how they write this up… I just don’t trust them…. Not state, Not the feds…there is too much money involved, maybe I’m just paranoid?
