Welcome back @MissinBissin
Always a Pleasure.
Spent a couple seasons watching things at GrowDiaries, and Iām loving the Next-Level feel of these talks and actions here on Overgrow.
FYI, @SativaKid asked me to come on overā¦
I spent quite a bit of time over there trying to pick seeds. It is nice, the directory of breeders and strains, grow logs and reviews. Unfortunately, they are mostly the big seedbanks with any presence over there. Sometimes I wonder, maybe with the large volume of $$ those banks (like RQS, Barneyās Farm, Greenhouse, Dutch Passion, Sweet Seeds, etc) make, surely they spend a significant amount on R&D. I was happy with my Sweet Seeds beans. Who knows. Iām going to see about posting logs and reviews of the strains I grew this season to help with GD.
Iāve got beans for that Honduras x Panama, she looks great! Hoping to give it a go next season, we had an unusually bad season down here this year.
Fantastic overall, wonderful result. Keep up the great work, thanks for posting!
Thanks for the warm n fuzzies. Iām loving the experience and depth of knowledge here. Forget the 1st generation of new strains from the biggies, Iām with this group in pursuing the Joy of real Sativas and making some room for classic Indicas
Skip Chatham-Kent County, its a Frickin wind-tunnel down thereā¦ worst winds Iāve seen. Laid a beating on 3 plants all Summer long
Buddy grabbed a Vertical column of Sand/Soil from the Roof95 / CloudWalker grow, and Iām picking it up tomorrow. Iāll do that mix/Agitation thing with Water and weāll see how it settles. Iāll try and find a tall vase to work-in so we can see the results
Regarding Soil Testing, Iām sure Local Soil Extensions (either Provincial or College/University) offer Testing for a really minimal fee. Here in Maine, you take a couple of Tablespoonfuls of Soil from 3 - 6 spots in the planned āGarden Areaā, place them TOGETHER in a small Box (provided), fill out the supplied Paperwork, mail it in. (DONāT FORGET THE FEE!!) In about 3 - 5 weeks, they send you a detailed Soil Report, broken down by all contained Elements, even including Recommendations, if any. You have GREAT looking soil, BTW!!! SS/BWā¦mister
Ok i am on it. Thanks for that push / recommendation
Here is the template iām using for the soil test, āin the jarā. Thatās gonna take a week. It starts in 15 minutes.
ThaNks Bro
Shown are the 2 jars of sampled soil.
The freshly shaken Jar with the Lid just removed, and a Settled Jar, 90 seconds after really shaking it for 90 seconds
The Sand layer became obvious right away. Now waiting that 2 hour stage for the Silt to settle
here is a few more references: āSeedfinders.euā and āGrowdaries.comā these will always help picking genetics/breeders
Iām guessing you are going to be sitting somewhere in the 60-70% sand, 20-30% silt, 10% or less clay region. I think I"m going to have to go get some dirt in a jar and look at what I have going on. Thanks for sharing! May need to be adding some sand hereā¦
Thanks for commenting. Each of the last 3 years we joked about the soil at this location. And how hugely productive it was vs any others in the region.
Its so nice to use this simple method to get a BallPark look at the players involvedā¦
Trying to find a blank Soil Triangle. iāll post a copy when I find it.
I saw that on the link you posted, you look solidly in the sandy loam or loamy sand territory. Results donāt lie!
only raises more questions, which is awesomeā¦
I am reading that this is a Texture Test. are we missing anything Obvious before we all head directly to Silty Loamy beds??
So happy I responded to a few years of visuals, and asked a question or two. Not a hard test to take by any means to get a rough idea. Only the last couple OF years I am realizing I must feed the Soilā¦ its all in lineā¦
I think certain sand raises the silica and mineral levels. I donāt think I could get the same results putting sandbox sand in my garden bed, but naturally sandy and loamy soil sounds like it would be rich in natural minerals and great for oxygenation.
Engineered sand is also something nobody wants mess with in the garden.
Like a Masonās sand.
A friend nearly choked a plant-out within 12 hours after trying to impede Aphid traffic between the bedroom and the kitchen, by applying an inch of Sand.
Iāve done it myself a couple of times successfully, with beach sandā¦ and it stopped the insects. He used sand from a construction siteā¦
Thatās probably it. Sand also offers less resistance to roots, allowing them to grow large. The bigger the root, the bigger the fruit.
I tried the Machupi this morning with coffee, nice! You da man! Peeled mini chunks for the bong. Perfect finish. Youāre one heck of a grower. The genetics are decent and it was calming as the major attribute to me. But chill not sleepy. Next up Pine Tar Kush
Oh your making my day @SativaKid. And I like the order you have set in motionā¦ Have a great journey
