Foreigner Goes Legal

Good day all and happy 420!

Today I’m fertilizing my little friends and then it will be time to kick back and enjoy the holiday.

Here are a few photo updates. Everything is about 4 weeks into flower.

Here’s the NL. She smells like a pine tree covered in candy floss.

Here are 2 pics of the WW. She smells like black pepper.

Here is the querkle/spade. She smells like lemon cleaner.

And one puny California orange/critical mass. She doesn’t smell like much of anything. What a tiny little girl.

All for now and have a lovely day

Hello all -

Things are chugging along nicely here in the foreign tent.

It’s been about a week since I pollinated selected buds and it looks like seeds are beginning to form already:

At the beginning of this run I had some germination issues so ended up popping more seeds. I decided to pop more than I might have needed, and also in hopes of getting a male. I’m glad I did.

Have a lovely day!

Day 33

Nothing really to report so here is a nice branch off the WW.

Have a lovely day

Good day all:

Day 38

A few quick updates. The seeds are all forming and everything looks good.

Here is the northern lights. She has been fighting a little calcium deficiency but I think she’s turned the corner. She smells like sugar pine.

Here is the white widow. She smells like pepper, anise, and sandalwood. Maybe it’s just me but I think she’s the prettiest one:

Here is the querkle/ace of spades. Short squat and stacking hard. She smells like lemon cleaner:

And here is the California orange/critical mass. She smells faintly of hash. She was neglected in her early life which explains the elongated structure:

Still a ways to go on these girls. The NL claims it will be ready in 49 days but I will believe it when I see it.

I’m looking forward to the finish line.

Have a lovely day

Here is a better pic of the NL. What I find interesting is how the plant has grown around the fan without any fiddling on my part. It just sort of figured it out by itself.

Happy weekend

Good day all.

I tried an experiment. I had an old ounce that was dry. Dry like turns to dust dry.

So I bought these -

Did this -

And left it alone for 3 days.

The difference is dramatic. The boveda buds are soft and pliable and the control buds are still super dry.

But here is the biggest difference. Each of these buds were the same size.

Note the dry vs fluffy. I’m pretty impressed. Thinking this might be the long term storage technique that’s been missing from my arsenal.

Have a lovely day

Day 46

NL - she is very close. Breeder says 49 days.

My 2 main concerns:

I might need to go an extra week for the seeds to fully mature.

I was hoping that I could harvest all at once but the WW and the CM/CO will go a bit longer it seems foiling my hopes of a single trimming session.

NL pics-

WW pics. She will be another 2 weeks. ~65 days. She smells like…something. Medicine, anise, it’s fragrant and wonderful.

PS - I estimate 60 days. Stem rub smells like bleach. Quick sniff smells neutral. She threw a couple little bananas but no big deal.

CM/CO I expect ~60 days. Her few buds are big dense and chunky. She smells like mild hash.

Have a lovely day

Nice looking babes there. The widow sure does look like a classic widow!

I’m thinking you’re probably right that 49 days is not enough for the NL, breeders tend to uhh exaggerate the speed of their strains haha. It’s definitely getting there though, a 7 week finisher would be awesome.

Do the stems snap on the buds you rehydrated with the boveda packs? I’m too cheap to buy them but am curious what ‘perfect 62% moisture’ feels like. Also if you squish one does it stay squished, crumble, or puff back to its original shape?

Thanks Beacher -

I think I could take the NL right now and it would be fine but I’m going to wait a week I think, mostly for seed ripeness.

The stems do snap on the boveda. They puff back out to their original shape when squished, within reason. Much better than the dusty mess I had before.

I think next time I will try the boveda 58% - I think the 62s are good for long term storage but I’ve read, and agree, that they are a little too wet for my smoking tastes.

Flower day - 49
Days since pollination - 27

Starting to see good evidence of seed production. Pulled one seed out for visual inspection. Had nice brown mottled coloration. She is starting to split her calyxes.

Still not ready for the chop. Another week or two. Here are some seed shots:

I’m pretty excited.

You are correct of course. I use their flags to estimate wind velocity.

You got a good camera, or is that using a digital microscope.

It’s my phone. An iPhone…6?

I usually take a few burst shots from slightly different distances and discard the lousy ones.

I was just given a samsung 4 phone, I might use that instead of my camera for close ups, my camera is useless closer than a foot away but has a very good anti shake feature.

I find I get my best closeups when I strike a balance between distance and zoom. Max zoom doesn’t seem to work out.

She is now fully dilated -

She has opted to deliver without drugs.

Have a lovely day

Well I hope the seeds produce plenty of drugs for you, even if she doesn’t want to use them.
