I’m tuned into this thread…keep up the great work and thanks for sharing
Amazing work, NASA will now be calling…
Cheers

Same boat. Clog between control and pot almost killed my jack Herer plant. Was out of town for 3 days came back to a parched plant. Between this and the mold in the greenhouse…
It’s been a shin kicking contest.
All I can think is upgrading hose OD to 3/4.
Shucks Knife, I thought you’d licked this problem w/ liquid nutes and that algae killer product.
Hmmm, a larger pipe from the large rez to the controller or, better yet, maybe a more robust type of float valve could do the trick. I’ll start the search.
Some of these are fpr 1/4" copper pipe with a compression fitting, so some kind of adapter needed.

Wonder if something like this could be workable? Been thinking about going to autofill res for the octos.
That’s the thing. I cleared the lines. No gunk. I think roots in the bulkhead or something…
Right now debating 1/2".
Havig trouble finding a manifold.
Those look like a good solution, easy retrofit that should fit in our existing controller boxes.
No reason not to leave the smaller tubing downstream of the controller?
Ya know, we need to move this discussion to the AutoFiller thread! I’ve been meaning to add the gritty details of “Suspended Animation” there anyways.
This thread is so damned interesting to me. I always look forward to your updates here, @GrouchyOldMan . Thank you so much for keeping us updated!
I’m on a steep learning curve as these plants wake up from a long sleep. I’m keeping notes on my missteps and successes. Lessons to be learned, but overall they are all returning to healthy growth.
This is the BX6-P1 Mother plant, newly awake and reaching for the electric sun!
The IBL & BX6 seed fems have had a rough time getting back on track. They were both pretty huge and I trimmed them down, and in, to form a nice canopy that will fill in as they resume normal veg growth.
Their problem was specific to octopots and I’m still working through it. One of the tools I use in diagnosing plant problems is strategic defoliation of damaged or characteristic leaves from an area or branch of the affected plant.
This is best done at the same time you introduce a change in pH, or nutes, PPFD, whatever. Trim out all the problem leaves on a branch and see if any newly damaged ones appear.
Did That Work? Asked and answered in a day or so. Here’s the IBL Seed female after a selective haircut today.
She’s still gonna be a monster sized plant I reckon. That plant has been in Octo veg since June, I think.

This is probably ill-advised!
What I should do here is to put together another incremental update on the plants, but it’s still a work in progress and there’s not much to say.
So, instead, I’m going to share a Taste Test “result” that is way more interesting.
I finally got around to “Proofng” the chems in the BX5 series harvest, and it was surprising to say the least. I’m going to forego any pretense of modesty and flirt with hubris by stating here that this is some mighty good dope!
I consumed 2ml of a Quick Proof batch of tincture from the BX5 outdoor survivor plants mentioned above. A half hour later I realized in a sudden awareness that I was high. Really high. Gobsmacked. Three hours later I came down somewhere near normalcy. Good dope.
Good enough that I want to try and describe the high, because this is all about the high. I’ve sampled every stage of the breeding program for Frankenstein’s Daughters and commented on the presence of some “Uniqueness” in the chemovar effect of this strain. Others have noted this as well.
I variously described it as the ability to migrate at will between two mental stony states; a mellow couchy relaxation, and a state of ready awareness and engagement. It was the second case, ‘snapping to attention and functioning’ that I think I was identifying as unique in my experience. Usually, when a chemovar is as deeply stony as Frankenstein, arising from body couch lock may be challenging. Not so with Frankie. Unique.
That character is dialed up to 10 in BX5. I’m both high as kite but still focused and pulsing with energy. It’s a pure rush, reminiscent of the white powder rush, an empowerment. Manic, that’s it. Manic without the hangover. And it goes on for hours.
That’s my report from a Quick Proof QWET tincture made overnight from rando trim scraps just to get an early indication.
So, yeah.

Can you please school me on the difference between “quick proof” and the 24 hour soak I currently use.
Thank you
That’s a good question @TARpits but I think I’m gonna address it in @ReikoX’s tincture encyclopedia rather than here.
Check here tomorrow:

Great report @GrouchyOldMan!
Your dedication and perseverance is really showing.
Cheers to your success
I live and breath this technique! I’m glad to see a seasoned grower as yourself using same method.
It’s a amazing to see what you are doing with this great strain. Got another Frankie going in flower at this time.
That’s so cool @420noob, you can flower along with my BX6 gen. Please feel free to drop some pics for us to share!
Nice to see you working to stabilize JPS’ years of breeding! I hope these seeds travel far and wide, spreading JPS’ work to the masses, Frankenstein is some really good weed
