Fuel's grow log

Sometimes to ask the yield of something is also nasty. But we all want to known it seriously lol

This the uniform way i deal with, it give me a few solid averages with the accumulation of stats on a given generation. Comparisons too. It’s a fast preview too on the resilience of the scents and tastes in optimal conditions ("cold flux"only), and when the grinder is too hungry also lol

  • behind the things : lets weight a clone and have fun with stats

The raw weight, the big one :

I just cut the trunk at the basis then put it like roses lol This is for me one of the most important because it mean also “total vegetal mass this round”.
There raw weight : 54gr/1.9oz

Then i wet trim, not so hardcore with the best covered trims, to take the second weight.
There trimmed weight : 40gr/1.4oz

From this point you can determine a “productive mass” with theyr natural supports, by example.
In the exemple it’s 25% loss. You can compare to this way the cost of all range of trimming grades too : finely trimmed, gross, balanced, leafs free … or in another way to weight the wanted trims for the skuff ^^

So, after a “flue-cured tabacco style” i weight it dry. But only after recovered all its homogeneous drying state in a “fast curing”. The whole process take max 48hrs.

The “net weight” : 12gr/0.5oz, + 5/0.17 allready smoked between the twos pics ^^, so exactly 17gr/0.59oz lol.
That’s in my head a range of 70% from the raw to the net. Also a 42% in the drying process, etc …

To cross theses stats between themselves in an harvest and made the link to physicall differences with specimens is enough to breed a good yielder from the blood used. Who known the price ? Your lifespan ? Tricks ? A quantitative approach ? … ^^

In a way i can show how it can be extrapoled in a yield ratio, in its “beta” version. That’s 17gr, when grown in a 32 plants / sqm unit. So 17 x 32 = net 544gr/sqm or … 6.3oz/ft² (?) , with net 0.5Kw CFL/sqm ^^ lol

You can add a time factor too. This clone was pushed and flushed fast to get ready in 7 weeks lol Usually more in the 8-9 range for this blood. So that’s also 49 days. Or also net 544gr/sqm in 49days = net 11gr/day per sqm productivity.

etc … have fun ^^

next update i show the dish lol

Hy everybody !

I will roll a “dry trimmed” clone that is “force cured” lol I have its track under the hand for the fun. Why the fuck i continue to track rejected specimens lol Ho yeah to kill them early in the next gen ^^

41.7gr / 1.4oz

13.1gr/1.4oz, “hot flue cured” 48 hours later.

So this time we have a pure loss rate from the untrimmed-wet-raw-yield (brut) to the untrimmed-dry-net-yield (net).
100% = 41.7, so 1% is 0.4
13.1 is 33%, the perfect third ^^

I generally use this data mostly to known the grade of the round concerned. If i have produced more water and juice that true vegetal mass in flowers, it’s a bad or an overwatered round.

It’s usefull too, to compare twos specimens or strain in term of pure flowers profile. Sometimes you have go just reduce the drying loss to boost well the yield of an hybrid, not specially to cross it with a fat vegetal mass producers that generally hit the potency most of the time. True secret here ^^

Forced to start the curing within 48hrs, in a way. 5 days later i can’t say that’s tasteless ^^ But i will not do that with delicates terpenoid’s profiles. This one is an old school skunk (not sugared) that stink the hell and taste very strongly the citric skunk with oily hash body (temple, charas). Maybe i was initially biased by the nostalgic appeal of this strong odor profile and ultra musky taste.

Let’s roll one to get motivation. With a bud porn to say her goodbye with respect.

Old school fast one ^^

Do you remember the Jack male that was not considered as ready, twos weeks ago ?

This is the mature state that i was waiting for to make the F9 lines. Comparing the photos can be disturbing with the ones of 2 weeks ago, can appear difficult to spot for the ones than are not used to deal with males. I have a simple trick to remember for you, if you want to test the difference :

Remember than the nodes contain the most auxin. And that these nodes are not only on the trunk but also everywhere else : in the fruit “skeleton” that we all smoke, but also on some stems more that on others. It’s why i generally try to select the twos best stems on vegged clones, over to choosing them too early.

When your male’s flowers are opened only on the “auxin’s sectors”, it’s not mature enough. When the flowers start to open more in depth in the buds, it’s time for your synchro. It’s a typical sog strategy than ask more attention to win maybe twos to three weeks on the planning.

Valuable alternative : Years go, a Catalan’s breeder have learned me something, more handy for classical space, to remember : the “crown” rule. The principle is to wait that the males is forming “crown” around its major tops and start to open them. This way you’re insured to use the best pollen no matter the strain, environment, timing … it add a bit more time on the whole planning of an hybrid but it’s stay a real secure rule for those interested.

Well i’ve put the first JH female on the twos planned. I generally bend the male’s stem around, i’ve high RH in this box.

I was affraid but the finally the timing was good with the first female

If i don’t hit 100 calibrated seeds with her, it’s voodoo.

Need to roll another one ^^ I’m lazy to prepare a couple of blunt so finally i don’t stop rolling by laziness. Stoner’s logic hey. But it insure me that it was the right choice to replace here. I’m at an average of 15 grammers net per specimen on 9 sog clones, one in left because dead. Let’s enter in another face of the selection.

That’s around 135gr/ 4.7oz without the sweet tooth, and i’ve started to smoke it 8 days ago. Only one clone left that is drying (a good 17gr one), and it’s what i have in the stash : around 6 gr/0.2oz.

So around 112gr/3.9oz per 8 days, 14gr/0.5oz a day, that’s way over my rates for a daily use. A “good daily weed” must fix me at the golden oz per week, no matter the cost. That’s a red alert of an increase of 270% over the golden oz lol Unable to share that but the smoke’s experience weighted very much in the balance. So “90’s skunk branded” as hell.

This female was fast, full of old skunky character and very pleasant to smoke but no horsepower when the tolerance is builded. Damn it’s maybe the 5th round, always the same game. But lord, with a potent F1 male you get a diamond.

As final female of the project it’s way to risky to count on the others side. Both have been selected for no ceiling and the hardiness for my body to build a tolerance with these lines, but it remain only 50% of the final blood.

I have more chance to lost at least 25% of the average horsepower with a guaranteed ceiling/roof. This LSxGK F2 is too young in generations to don’t represent a larger risk of unplanned linked traits by definition too. Let’s bet on the next horse ;o)

On the spaces it come back a little uggly again, but for a nice transition i hope ^^

I just chopped the big one, the last sister alive of the LSxGK F2 ^^

Now i known than it will last a day ^^

The ST#3 allready backup in seeds, that don’t look like a 60 days flowered plant but that smell and taste like 60 of them ^^ She can go up to 100+days, very long to make seeds as hell. But it value the trip genetically.

The twos JH in stock have been hitted by the change of system, they have started to develop a crazy root system in the tubes. Stigmas are allready hitted before theyr thickness period, both will finish in the stash.

In the veg, things go ahead. I have twos backup JH males that will replace the actual one, they need to pollenate twos clones and i’m safe ^^ I really love this line as hell, i aim a raw 200 seeds for at least 50 alphas grade.

The bended male on left is the sweet tooth male allready used to backup the st#3 line, he’s the foundation of the ST x JH than i aimed as male donor for a private stash 3way combo ^^ I will be enough happy with the F1 in a first time i guess, can’t wait.

And the stash JH on right, i’m supposed to clone her to fill a gap when i will relaunch the tubes but … i hold the process to reduce the plants number to minimum first, and with all needed females seeded. It’s a bit rushy here too in this period by my job, can’t handled a turn over in writing an update ^^ The other reason is a transition to a new space that must be prepared. It will be not very bigger but more handy and with the space for twos tubes systems (x24) with more height.

I’ve ton of photos on the tube’s upgrade and a shore that i want to show for the fun ^^, but i will keep it for a dedicated post later. I’m short in time, i’ve chilled enough allready on OG lol ^^

To be continued …

keep the vibes high and make a good pale brown skuff !

Micro update, just to say than the shoes box was in fact really temporary. The lab is moving again ^^

After months of madness with tons of work, moving everywhere … i was unable to relaunch the nightmare and to be active on OG. But now i can stay more at home and have fun. So the reboot is coming.

Nothing impressive, pollen tent/veg tent/bud tent combo but enough to have fun in good conditions. I’ve spended my day to empty and to clean the space (around 20 square meters), dispatching and mounting the stuff with my grand son. Great day ended with a fine polish vodka on ice (luv it ^^).

The next days will be less funny and full of calculations. I have the air exchange to set and the electric lines to place, my head and my twos left hands will suffer.

Can’t wait to launch the seeds, i promise some funk.

Ho, the GHE nutes are for a side project with bamboos ^^ Seeds from in vitro specimens than i’m impatient to try because i was involved in this project. see ya and best vibes !

After a good headache on the exhaust, i’ve found a solution (spending more and renewing the whole air of a big house lol) then tada ! The flowering space is ready to go.

Disclaimer : put children aside, the Fuel’s industries have something like the freak show of coney island. And yes i’m Dr Frankenstein on LSD when i dabble.

This is the flowering space. It was epic to take a shot, i need to find better settings on my old Canon. It’s like the movie cocoon when you open the tent lol

  • 4x4/120 tent
  • 4x250W CFL, each air cooled with 6 rollers to can be the closest possible of the plants. Actually the duct fans suck trough the bulbs but are reversible to regulate and stabilize temps in the winter. I’m a bit picky with the stability of the temps, i want them rockstable night and day around 21°c / 69.80°F no matter what and without any AC ^^
  • a GHE ebb&flow table of 1sqm / 3.2 sqf
  • RVK of 400CFM-680M3/h and its filter of 590CFM-1000m3/h (yes, i oversize always my carbon filter)
  • RVK of 264CFM-450m3/h on one active intake, ducted on the roof of the tent
  • 2 passive intake with ducts on the roof too (since the gnats of the shoebox i’m paranoid)
  • a cheap clip ventilator

The exhaust line than make me crazy ^^ “hard ducted” to the RVK for the silence, and “mason-nned” to a chimney. Very high pressure inside with only one RVK in action, i’m a bit stressed to receive the second one for the veg space.

Which is in late damned, they come from germany but i don’t want another one. Unfortunately it’s discontinued and replaced by another one than i don’t like in the product line (less horsepower on the exhaust side, less silent). Very quiet, (too) good pressure curve, not so big for the output and with a nice built-in big condensator integrated for relatively cheap (around 90€). It was a fucking quest to get one than i like and a miracle to get a second one, but my usual growshop are golden crew, they love me and i love them ^^

When i receive the one than go in the veg tent (maybe tommorow), i will remove the “screw end” of the T junction, then another headache will come. I need to regulate the distance between the twos junctions, not to be handily but to have the right pressure between the twos RVK. If the RVK of the veg tent is too close of the one of the flo tent, i will apply to much pressure on the T junction and will fuck the performances of the carbon filter. If i put it too far, the pollen tent will be dangerously too close of the flowering tent and i will have too many turbulences in the main tube between the twos tents… hell. Jah bless the skilled friends i’ve called at impossible hours ^^

So all is empty, full reboot. The time than i need to refill the veg tent with three lines i’m working on, i need to refill the jars. So this round in the 2700K tent will be dedicated to @oleskool830 and @SpeesCees.

oleskool830 because he gave me the “satan in my body” (you’re welcome to give me the texan equivalent of this expression ^^) about to smoke sativas hybrids buds.

I’ve put them to swim early this morning, they have 8 years and have not seen a fridge during all these years. My bad ^^
The gens are (Sweet Tooth#3 F3 male x inbred Ghanna landrace female), i don’t expect a good germination rate and i expect a couple of herms ^^ I’ve never tested this line, only sended it to be tested. A shame. All i known is than the potency is surprising, i hope to have enough female to judge that by myself.

It’s a goodbye for this line, this is the only seeds i have. And it’s why i dedicate too this round to SpeesCees. Because i will SOG them, so 12/12 from seeds. I never “regen” a breeding material, so for one time i will grow “normal” like the majority of growers. It’s to show him than i don’t discovered this method yesterday ^^

I will fill the holes of the germination/herms/males with another sativa line than i need to test : inbred Ghanna male x inbred Zamal female. A little madness but i need time to prepare the genpool in veg space. I will maintain this line this time, it’s the only one pure sativa line than i own and than i will own in the future. I will not breed it this round, just saying hello and taste the high. I’ve ton of seeds of it, not a big deal to do a blank round in SOG.

On the veg space well… no surprise to wait. I will launch the Jack and the Sweet Tooth i’ve done in my previous schoebox, continue theyr respective IBLs then maybe do a sweet tooth x jack F1 if i’m enough lucky in selection.

A third line will enter in the dance the same way of the Lemon Skunk x Grape Kush than have leaved the genpool, another US blood than i will discover but which have a nice story behind. No BS or legend of my ass behind, just the fun of a friend from colorado. I will tell you that when i will germinate them.

Can’t wait to finish this space for good, i hate to don’t pay someone to do it for me lol I’m very long at dabbling to obtain what i want, and i suffer. See ya with seedlings under 12/12 !

Thanks for thinking of me my brother. I am flattered and honored. I am curious about your strains and your lights. Can you tell me about those lights? I’ve never seen one. How are they helpful with heat control? I love your posts. They are detailed and informative. I just copied the whole post straight to oleskool’s Big Red Book.

What size pots will you use for 12/12 from seed? :cowboy_hat_face:

thx for your kind words ;o)

About these hybrids in SOG, we will discover together how they grow ^^ It will permit too to see if you’re ready to give a shot in your hot place during this round. We are not in pure sativa lines but totally in the old school haze’s range for sure lol

These CFL bulbs are not well know, and not specially good understanded in general. I mean in term of habits to take. People than have started to flower theyr stuff under T8, when HPS was unreachables, tend to be more rares than ever (i’ve started very young ^^). But in synthesis it’s exactly the same technology : neons, but in more powerfull. With all that it mean in term of temps and penetration of light. CFLs are not very radiant, so they don’t heat the air outside the direct perimeter. It’s why i put fan ducts, to erase this perimeter and get more for the money ^^

To give you a more detailled idea, one 250W bulb like you see in the photo eat in reality around 150W max, without any peak of intensity (like all neon ballasts and led’s drivers, they are low amps) and heat like a 150HPS. It’s a very outdated techno, but i love my weed under neons. My seeds too. Hard to tell more about that without sharing a blunt together.

This round will not be impressive because the bloods are not yielders, and more breeded for potency but you can obtain this type of lady with it in choosing good SOG strains (edit : ask BOG, he known flowers under neons and what is a good sog strain lol):

Of course you have more liberty than with T8s and a bit more intensity of light per sqm (so biggest buds), but the constraints still barely the same. To keep it short and fast, and to think perpetual more than long trees sessions.

The critical trick is to never buy an horticultural CFL bulb than is selled to be below 200W. I choose the 250W because they have the best ratio price/“watt eating”/light.

On the roots side, i SOG with twos volumes than can do the “twos birds / one stone” job (breeding/weed). I start with 2 liters pots (0.5 gal) and i’ve generally killed all undesirables specimens before transplanting in 4 liters (1.05 gal). When you have a high turn over of specimens, it matter in dollars at the end of the year. I use mainly bricks of coco coir inside, with a little cylindric topping of soil for the bitchy strains (seedlings/rooted clones). And sometimes rockwhool in bottom when i want to have fun with electroculture (planned for 2019 ^^).

But the pots in question are very specific and build by a little french company (CEP) than furnish greenhouses and “plants supermarkets”. It’s like the Pöppelmann products if you want, but only in theyr wholesale gamme.

These CEP are designed at the basis for the storing of “roses plants” in horticultural facilities, they are thin but high (20 centimeters / 8 inches for the 2liters ones) and with a smart trapezoidal form factor. Most of the pots sold in growshops are too short in height, i don’t like it and it’s a source of worries with sensible strains.

happy to share with friends in a total freedom ^^

Hell, ~one month in fact to build this space ^^ I was not aware of that until i saw the overgrow’s dates lmao
But it’s finally done and i can launch now a sick amount of germination’s batches. Happiness.

The first run of the flowering space with seed’s SOG will be more a patchwork than i was thinking, failsafe for the jars. It will be interresting to drive for sure with a common tank ^^

Little overview of the spaces, i’m happy to no longer suffer on it.

On the right the very technical clone’s/seedlings space lol The neon is a 218W T8 (yes i love T8), lowered from 224w. Now i can put litterally the neons on the little greenhouses so i need less heat. The big CFL will complete the beam.

The whole tent is beamed by a single CFL250 in 6400K, inside a parabolic reflector. They work well for veg space together.

On the left, the outake-intake than come from the little pollen tent.

And the pollen tent with inside 2 domestic CFL of ~30W. With a manual switch when i need to torture some specimens without fcking the timer’s programs. It will be used sometimes to dry weed also.

This night i need to watch after my seed stash and to launch everything i don’t want specially to breed, and to prepare the halloween and christmas coffeeshop menu ! And to relaunch the project on the Jack, the ST#3 and a new entry.

My desktop will be covered by seeds to germinate lol This space need to be overgrown as hell. See ya !

Damned, the seed stash was in need to be cleaned a bit too. I mainly write the list to can read it later if any lol

Seeds launched and planned for Veg :

  • Jack #2 F9 (lemon, bouncing high), from the shoebox
  • ST#3 F6 (leafy peruvian style) , from the shoebox

and …

  • Avinash Soul F1 : It started with a long discussion on how to prepare a weed for (big) cups, i was asking a fews advices on feeding the last weeks, on fulvic/humic game, offroad drying process etc … and it ended with seeds lol.

This guy was working on a big op in Col. and have made seeds with some candies than was around. They regularly launched selection to renew the menu, big loads. He suggested me to close a 3way with a F1 line on which he bet : (Grape Stomper x OG) X Bubba Jam (bubba kush x jazzberry jam) for the other side. Bubba Kush and Og Kush is not very much the poison of my receptors, i need too much oz to be fine, but the presence of Blueberry, Chem and Diesel in this hybrid convinced me ^^ He’s a freestyler, but known his job and selected himself the plants for his own seed stash. It was too sexy to refuse, as usual. I’m expecting a firework of segregation and to be forced to make maybe three or four separate lines to can hook the big fish on one of them. It is going to be sports, but fun.

Not a big story, legendary sources (even if i consider GGG as fire source, over all polemics) or seeds gift by jimmy hendrix a night of full moon … just some fun between twos retired players. Later i will launch the others seeds he sent, before they age too much. He bet less on them, so lower priority for me.

Seeds launched and planned for the SOG from seeds : finally a sick patchwork lol

I need to clean the stash from too old seeds, things i will not breed etc … one shot.

  • (update : too weak) Jack F8 male x Sweet Tooth #3 F5 female : i’ve made it in the shoebox just to test the male dominance

  • (update : dead) sweet tooth #3 F3 male x ghanna female Fxx : 8 years old damn, and i feel allready after three days than any germination will be a miracle with this batch.

  • (update : planned for long term) Fxx ghanna male x Fxx Zamal female : a sick cross for masochists, i need to test it more in depth. 8 years old also, but i plan to refresh this line to refine it as it. Fingers crossed on the viability. It will be the only landrace hybrid of my genpool i think, because my twos favorites sativa are grouped in this line. I will suffer to extract something, but i have enough seeds to secure it someday. Let’s see if i can save this incredible high and keep it fresh again.

  • (update : too weak) Big White x Heribei : old seeds from sannie, i think 4 years but not sure. Only one run outdoor with it, very nice weed and potent but i will not take a slot in genpool for it. So, one shot bye bye.

  • (update : vigorous as hell) WTF freebies ^^ : they are from me but i don’t known wtf they are. By the shape of the seeds i can see different mothers but i’m unable to guess what it is lol So they will be the WTF.

(update on expressed content) :

  • Sweet Tooth#3 F5 male x JH#5 F8 female

  • Sweet Tooth#3 F5 male x (Lemon Skunk x Grape Krush) female (SGR4)

  • JH#5 F8 male x (Lemon Skunk x Grape Krush) female (SGR6)

  • (update : too weak) MOL : souvenir from breedbay (RIP) and from Heaven Scent Pharms, 8 years old again damn. It’s savannah x sour krush . The breeder was very freestyle ^^, the Lemon Skunk x Grape Krush of the shoebox was from him too. All i known is than he named Sour Krush this blend : (ECSD x Southern Delight) x Grape Krush. It will be the 5th strain i test and i’m not specially liking the way the potency is selected until now. If have free slots, i will complete the holes with the last bag of HSP i have. Another strain. The sad side of these releases is than these strains need only better horsepower in general, because the plants are funky and sometimes impressive. But i have others cats to whip like we say in France.

  • (update) : Jack#5 F9, launched in urgency lol by three batch at one week delay during three weeks. They represent the majority of sogged seeds finally.

It promise an interresting SOG from seeds and an headache to feed them all with the same tank in plain flowering stage ^^ After that, i will welcome the next batch of clones like Jesus himself lol

The desktop is full of seeds than germinate everywhere lol It look so ghetto, i need to take a pic later lmao

Stay green and germinate all your old seeds before they die ^^

The seeds start to rush the place, i’m happy even if i have maybe one more month of germinations in front of me to reboot the lab’. I don’t specially like to do it, i prefer to analyze and kill seedlings lol

But i was thinking than maybe it was a good idea to present how i do that, one time for good because it’s always the same procedure. For the curious or some than need inspiration or whatever, just to share it if any.

As promised, the very ghetto picture :

I need to buy again a dozen of seeds sprouters lol

One person here know in detail why i’m so much happy to see that again, and what this ugly ghetto pile of germinating seeds represent for me ^^ Proud to be shameless. As hell.

Now this is my best friend to manipulate germinating and germinated seeds :

This is a titanium tweezers (surgery) with enough strenght to be able to do delicate operations with it. If it’s too loose, i crunch the seeds with it.

I never touch germinated and germinating seeds with my fingers, gold rule. Even with gloves.

The first thing than i’m doing is to wash everything than will be used and than is “not brand new”. I just use dish soap in good quantity (without excess) and i don’t rinse the tools. Residual dish soap “film” is my friend.

For fresh seedlings, i use the white “plastic glass”. I don’t known the volume, i can test it if any.
On left the format of the popular “solo cup” more generally known, a bit less than a half liter (0.11 gal).

It’s how i prepare them, and it’s (for real) the start of the optimization. I just flame a cutter blade then i make four fine cut on the bottom of the cup. More will make my seedlings lazzy and i don’t want that, time is not money but weed than you don’t smoke ^^

I use this kind of supermarket soil. Nothing special or expensive but enough “fine”. I work it a little in my hands to aerate it to the maximum possible, like a cloud of soil.

I fill very gently the cup, i NEVER press the soil and i let it loose, aerated to maximum and fluffy as hell. By this way, i will be able to have solid, dense and not struggled roots. The soil don’t disapear by magic when the seedling fill the cup with roots, the roots are just compressing the soil to have space. And the force of a seedlings to compress the matter of its soil mustn’t be under-evaluated. The more compressed, the more the roots are compressing each others when you want dense and boosted root balls to transplant. Specially with explosive products like Root Excellurator ^^

I place them in a “tray” then i fill the tray with tap water until the cups are gently “floating”. I was used to do it the day before the transplant of seeds with larger scales. To let the soil to be “uniform” in RH. But i was more in “chinese factory” mode today.

I wait a little, the time for the water to enter gently in the cup in preparing the others trays.

Just before sowing the seeds, i spray in a very fine rain the upper side of the cup to broke the “dry layer” and permit to the twos humid side to “communicate” fast. It’s why i don’t hate dish soap.

Then i digg a micro-hole on every cup ready to be “sowed” with seeds. Every single one, to known in one fast check if the cup is allready filled with a seed or not. I dig mostly at 0.5 centimeter depth, one centimeter for the big-rooted-dragster seeds.

On the right, there is a seed than is perfect to explain how i think. It’s planting his pivot root just aside. Not to dig, but to “stand up” and become a plant. Without its primary leafs, it actually don’t known than it’s on surface so it will continue to probe the surface until to find a stable corner to “be right on its feets”.

Can appear stupid like that, but it don’t exist a single way to plant seeds. Like “plant the root down”, “plant the root up” blabla … just plant the root in thinking what the fuck is doing the seedling lol At this stage theyr are just pathetic arm-wrestling babies, if you don’t forget that you will plant all your seeds the right way.

If you think than i will plants all these seeds the same way and manner, you don’t got the thing and/or i don’t have well explained it ^^

The macro is not very good but it give an idea on how i adapt.

I want to dedicate this post to this Avinash Soul F1 lol It literally exploded from the shell like pop corn. And without taking the time to eat all the food inside lmao Motivate the others, sucker !

Because writing on cups is shitty as hell and need to be done again at each transplantation … i use this cheap and simple trick. Available everywhere and “knifes” are enough long to write the ID on it. I use also spoons of different colors to mark the specimens. Like : red spoon = to be killed, green spoon = to watch, yellow spoon = to be pollinated etc … with a fast check you can remember things without opening the database during the daily maintenance.

First shot done, around 30 seeds. I will let sit the cups in a bit of water like that until tomorrow morning then put them in a large, dry and clean tray. One dedicated for the veg side, one dedicated for the “sog from seeds” side. No light until i see a leaf.

Maybe 20 mores seeds are waiting to be transplanted, the ST#3 x Ghanna batch is dead. Trash fate. The first shot of ghanna x zamal too, i need to launch others from this one again. Some of you will think than it’s pretty early to throw seeds but they smell not legit. I mean really smell lol Can’t explain really, only my grand son can smell this odor too.

I will try to document a specific trick for this type of difficult and aged seeds. Somes will be shocked maybe ^^

see ya ! can’t wait to see some green in the tents.

First batch of seed is close to be finished. The veg side will start tommorow, enough seeds to launch the first wave.
But the SOG side need around at least 30 more to be safe

So, I’ve relaunched today :

  • a dozen of ghanna x zamal F1 for the sog, i will relaunch another dozen tomorrow to show a weird trick.
  • a dozen of (ECSD x Southern delight) x Grape Krush F1 for the sog
  • a dozen of JH #5 F8 for the sog
and i forgot to mention ~20 JH#2 F8 allready launched for the veg

I hate this part of a reboot, no mothers to clone and a load of seeds to transplant at a time. Can’t wait the cruiser speed.

Tiny update this week, it’s hard for the mind to have only seedlings in the crop lol

I’m happy, this is the last batch of seeds than i launch for a good month at least. Transplanting seeds each day is not my poison.

I forgot to transplant this GrapestomperOG x Bubba Jam a bit ^^ Shame on me lol

The last batch, seeds of the JH#5 line i’ve made in the schoesbox. I just finish to transplant them, an half dozen in late and i’m done to relaunch seeds again.

The SOG from seeds start to smell the “let it grow”, i’ve 26 to 28 final slots in 4 liters pots. 37 seedlings are growing under 12/12, i will finish with around 40 i think. Enough to kill the males and the less sexy females during the twos next transplantation.

The hint, which is not really a true one, is to directly put the seeds under 12/12. Germinating->transplant->12/12.
You insure this way a good dynamic for later.

Next harvest will be mainly the WTF mix and a potent/hazey Jack Herer. Not lucky with the old dry seeds and i will launch directly the zamal/ghanna in veg finally. Basically the most potent zamal females are bad mothers, seeds are very tiny and long to germinate. Add 8+ years and it’s the hell lol No GA3 under the hand to help them by the way, old school.

In veg they produce roots gently, can’t wait to test theyr weed ^^ Sweet Tooth, GS x BJ, Jack. The three components of a 3way i want to make. Finger crossed for the GSxBJ, but i’ve good feeling. I think than this US blend will win its place in the cross, after … damn 6 lines rejected. Time will speak.

I hope to can transplant some in 2 liters the next week, i will test this week a new root stimulator to replace the Root Excelurator. Not easy, this product is very effiscient.

see you !

Behind the things : compressed coco coir ^^

Today it’s the second week, the transplants will begin. So i need coco coir ^^

Micro update to share a basic habit about this product than i’m using mainly as medium when i can : the coco bricks. They are pretty usual here, cheap and easy to send discreetly.

The difficulty for me is generally to find bricks without trichodermas, this is pretty trendy here but i don’t specially like that. I prefer to rely on individual roots boosters for different reasons.

So here the twos products than will “enrich” the dry coco brick.

Roots Excellurator (H&G) : A bit pricey but my favorite root booster (until now). The boost is pretty agressive and long lasting, i generally only use it twice in a session. One time per transplant operation.

Not really a rule because the inner rhythm of each crop matter, but a share to understand how i decide it :

  • The first drop being when seedlings start to have a true trunk, when their very first peri-derm is “cracking”. You know, this little dry and dead skin. It’s time for me to give them a real pot to colonize.

  • The second drop being when i transplant in definitive pots. Depend on the strain, sometimes it’s before the stretch, after the stretch or during the stretch. But always around this stage.

Soil Attack (Aptus) : This is relativly new. The shoebox and its GMO gnats helped me to discover better this product in fact. Partly a preventive measure (it stink very strong) but it have also a very nice effects on the “restart” time of the transplanting operation. It “strenght up” a bit also the main pivots roots of healthy plants in increasing their diameter, and produce more “hairy roots” in young stage.

For a 70 liters brick i use 10 liters of solution (2.64 gal), splitted in 2 x 5 liters.

Spanish like to mix with the water different organic amendment and let the coco suck it : worm casting, fish emulsion etc … but i’m not so in these things.

Uggly pics to show the Roots Excell concentration ^^

So i mix the stuff at these dosages :

  • Roots Excell : 0.25 milliliter per liter
  • Soil Attack : 0.30 milliliter per liter

Then i shake the twos jerrican like a bartender lol

Let’s dance with the first pass. I use a big plastic container than i can seal when i’ve finished, and than just fit the dimension of the brick i’m using…

I place it in the center.

And i pour on it the first jerrican, slowly and in moving the jerrican to hit all the surface.

It look like that after the first pass. Only the upper part is saturated.

Then i pour the bottom of the container, on each side, with the second jerrican.
And i let it sit closed for a day in a temperate space (not cold, not warm).

The day after, i crunch the brick with the hands (with gloves) to aeate it in pressing the coir in a bucket to remove the excess of solution. Than i recycle the bucket in the watering of seedlings not yet ready for the transplant ^^

See you tomorrow for the transplanting and the update of plants ;o)

And there is the update.
I’ve tryed to take a bunch of pics to reduce the explanations lol New fomat ^^

The brick after a night.

The water ratio was just perfect, no drain at all. Less work.
So the next step was to work with hands the coir to aerate it at maximum, the second pic give an idea of the final volume reached.

Coco coir boosted with root booster and preventive care = ready.

What’s going on in the tents

Veg side, the synchro is not bad.

SOG from seeds side (SOGFS) is not the same, bad synchro but i like this pic. It show perfectly the three steps of seedlings stages.

Last ones launched (JH#5) are on the right, on the left is the previous batch (JH#5) and in the middle is the first batch (WTF, JHST).

In both spaces, it’s time for a partial transplant. Let’s dance !

Behind the things : First transplant

Don’t be affraid, i’m writing each "behind the things " sequences one time for good ^^

If you follow this grow log, you allready known what mean this pic, the dish ! No matter what, i always wash the pots and micro-greenhouses when i put a plant inside. Each time and even with brand new pots.

As usual, i fill the pots “loose”. Keeping the medium very aerated and not compacted at all.
Then i dig a hole to place the root blocks.

I transplant pretty deep the first time. Even with a woody clone.
No worry, the trunk will produce roots.

It give an idea of the height i let for the aerial side.
Very gently topped with coir, lifted but not compacted at all.
No watering and no spraying at this point.

I stock them in a clean container and when i’ve ten, i prepare a solution for the very first true feeding.

AB Aqua Flakes : 1 milliliter per Liter, thats all.

Then i pour an half jerrican (0.66 gal) directly in the container of the ten pots. Just enough to hit well the drain’s holes.
No spray at all on the top, the ambient humidity will be enough.

First batch transplanted, it will continue like that … for ever in fact lol, but in a more smooth rhythm.

And yes i don’t have enough space in the flo side to transplant them all ^^ I count on the desynchro to can kill some males on the go ( i think than some will start to appear next week) , but at one moment it will be overcrowd for sure.
It’s the necessary fail-safe margin to can fill the space only with females.

SOG from seeds considerations : Seedling’s development.

I will more show than comment for the further pics, each one will make his own opinion. I don’t do that to convert or to sell something, just to show a very bad known method : sogging from reg seeds.

For this pic, i’ve selected the three more vigorous specimens of the flowering space (LEFT) and the three more vigorous specimens of the vegetative space (RIGHT).

The sogged seeds have started under 12/12 just after being sowed. Veg side is set at 18/6.
They were feeded with the exact same soup until now and have the same soil.

On the left the vegged seedling (sweet tooth#3) and on the right the sogged seedling ( WTF : by the pattern i guess a [Lemon Skunk x Grape Kush] x Jack Herer ).

That’s all for this week, see ya and have fun with your plants !

Excellent example of interveinal chlorosis, the veins are the last thing to turn yellow
this picture would be good for the FAQ page not sure how to do that though.

Just finished reading the thread, lots of detail, nice pics, will be nice to follow along a current grow. happy hunting
