Goji OG Community Preservation Run & Beyond

Things are moving along here nicely. The plants were showing good signs of growth so the lights were flipped to 12/12 on the night of December 7th, 5 days after they were topped. It is now the 10th and after a few days of 12/12 the plants are exploding… Just look at the growth here:

The night the plants were topped (Dec 2nd), revealing all those leaves I burnt from the Ozone:

24hrs later (Dec 3):

Dec 4:

Dec 5:

And finally, this is 4 days later and 2 days after flip! POW!! (Dec 9):

I can tell these babies are gonna stretch like crazy. There is little height variation since I topped them because I tried to cut them all to the same height. I’m sure the taller ones will find a way though.

Clones are looking healthy and #4 is already popping out roots like crazy on day 8.

9 Females and 1 Male confirmed. Let’s see if you agree:

N1

N2

N3

N4

N5

N6

N7

N8

N9

And last but not least N10, the lone male, unless I’m completely wrong about this:

N10 was the first to show sex BY FAR! Like at least a few days before all the other plants and he is a week behind them all. N10 was the one I named The Phoenix because I forgot about the seed in the germination bag. I’m going to remove him asap. I have a 2’x2’ tent coming for a male jail.

Everything else is going well. Clones are looking nice and 6 of them have been potted. Still waiting on a few more to show bigger roots. I also cloned N10 this week and he was a week behind everyone else.

N4 is showing some excellent root production! Took special note of that shit. I left her out of the pot for a little too long and some of the roots got damaged. I sprayed them down with some aloe water and potted her up so she should start to grow soon.

Everything else is good. Fungus gnat population kicked up realllll bad. Annoying little F#$Kers. My wife keeps asking me why there are so many “fruit flies” in the basement  "Hmm… not sure… " Realllly smooth.

Looking great. Last grow I couldn’t get away from gnats and had to learn to control them. After harvest, I emptied and cleaned the room entirely and let it sit clean for a month. Put in a new 30-gallon fabric grow bed and new soil (BuildASoil). I haven’t seen any gnats this round. Knock on wood :boom: :boom:

Ya I’ve never personally seen them this bad. The population seems to go up and down. I’ve been feeding with earthworm castings in a comport tea and in my experience, the microbiology and beneficials seem to knock them down a bunch. Then all of a sudden they just exploded when the plants stretched up a few inches.

I sprinkled on a tbsp of insect frass into each pot so I’ll see if that helps. Ordered up some sticky traps too…

I find Bt to be really effective at keeping the fungus gnats down. It doesn’t kill 100%, I still get a few here and there, but never more than that. Mosquito bits is the cheap version around here.

It’s also non-toxic to the beneficial microbiology

Dude I’m right there with you this go round. The gnatrol (BTI) has helped control things this far. But the struggle is real!

Black swallow wow learn something new everyday that stuff would be good in a germ water mix with some aloe or even cutting water now I think about it

Looking great @G-paS !

I’ve been away for Christmas but will update with pics ASAP. All looking good on my end so far. My one male has been separated and is starting to drop pollen. He got really tall, really fast! Growing about an inch or more a day. More details to come. Ladies looking lovely too!

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas.

Happy New Year All! I hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday season. Updating from my
Phone so if the format is messed up I will fix it tmrw.

It’s been awhile so I’m due for an update. Been a pretty busy few weeks. Since last check in I set up a new space for my one male and separated him. He has grown the most out of all the plants. See for yourself:

Dec 20th:

Dec 22nd:

Dec 24th… A Christmas Miracle:

Jan 1st:

Bustin pollen everywhere over here… Lookin like my bedroom when I was 15.

The ladies are doing lovely and have come a long way since my last update. Cleaned up the lower thirds and a pretty good defoliation. Also set up my Blumats system and that saved my ass over the holidays, big time! I’m getting some floral, lemon grass smells from the females. They are ready do receive pollen any day now. @G-paS is sending me pollen asap so I can mix all her males in with mine and give these ladies some variation.

Here are some progression shots.

Clones were a little worse for ware on my return home but have since bounced back. I’m happy to report that all 10 have rooted and are in pots but are growing a lot slower than I’m used to. They dried out a bit while I was away so I think they got stunted. I’m hoping to get cuts to some people ASAP!

Hoping to have this extra pollen within the next few days. I am on day 24 of flowering. As long as I pollenate by day 30 or 32 by the latest I think I should be ok! I think this is all going to work out beautifully.

Piggy backing my comment on the other thread and doubling down here, that male is a beast! Crazy how fast he grew on you. Ladies look like centerfold models, you’re killing it dude!

Thanks but… Hold that thought.

I just made a shocking discovery. 7 out of 9 of my ladies are showing intersex traits. Clusters of pollen sacks… On 7 out of 9! Most of the sacks are open. Pistils showing signs of pollination.

I’m not even sure how I feel right now. Dumb… Careless… Foolish. Numb, would probably be the best description. Pissed… no… disappointed. Ya… that’s the one. I kinda feel like Clark Griswold when he opened his bonus on Christmas Eve and found a subscription to the Jelly of the Month Club…

This run is over for me.

Unless someone has a Alt-Z (undo) button?! No eh?! Fuck. Fucking fuck.

Sorry If I let everyone down. I feel like I let myself down. The tent was checked for light leaks. The plants are looking healthy AF… I don’t get it. I turned off my light and locked my head in there again just now. Total darkness. I’m gutted. All that time and effort… poof. Gone.

Sorry peeps. Not sure how to proceed. Suggestions welcome.

Fairly sure I remember reading that the Goji OG has herm tendencies in the first place… 7 of 9 is rough, but it’s quite possible you just lost the genetic lottery. You have clones of the two that didn’t herm, right? Even if not, you could take them and hope for a re-veg… they wouldn’t be ready by the cut-off date, but you could just send them in to Sebring late. Otherwise, dunno. The ones in there are most likely pollinated already by the hermies, so those might not be useful for the seed run. Of course, Goji OG is supposed to be excellent smoke, that’s why the seed run in the first place… so enjoy them. :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought I read that too. I didn’t read back thru the whole thread yet. I did the smaller thread.

I feel for you bud, that’s a rough hand. I have two more males throwing pistils now also, so 3 w herm tendencies here.

Re-do w clones would be the safe bet.

If you were looking to try to salvage, I wonder if you pulled all the herms out and then pinched all the flowers that look pollinated off the two girls. Strip em back hard even…they might not like it rn, but maybe could try for a clean start. Idk, might cause them to herm too😬

Saw this in the other thread and replied there my dude, but all the condolences, not your fault, major bummer though. Stay positive, some killer suggestions floating around in next steps between this thread and the other, I’m sure you’ll figure out something to do with em. The community is behind you either way though bud :v:t2:

So shit happens and I have decided to carry on. I’m going to go ahead and pollinate these females with my one male but I am not going to distribute the seeds to the community. If however you feel inclined to give them a go I would be more than happy to send you some but we’ll get to that part once all of this is wrapped up.

I have clones of everything so my plan now is to pollinate what I have since everything is ready. The pollen is in abundance and the females are super ready to receive it. I’ll finish this run and make notes and observations on the phenotypes. Then I’ll run the clones and see if this happens again. I’ll be a lot more careful about environment conditions and do my best not to stress these plants at all. Maybe by that point I’ll have some of the others’ best males to throw in the mix. Hopefully everything works out the way it’s supposed to and I’ll have seeds to share if people are still interested.

Here’s a run down of my tent for those that are interested in very organized layouts for you to compare to in the future.
