Yeah, I looooove watching outdoor grows, but it’s always kinda bittersweet when flowering commences on the outdoor threads I’m watching. Like,”Shit, man, summer’s coming to an end…” haha. Still, I’m pretty stoked to see how those plants do. Really curious to see how big they get, too. And I guess we still have a good six or eight weeks of summer left. I just hate it when the days start getting noticeably shorter… You probably love it, though haha! I know I would if I was growing outdoors.
Still plenty of summer left! I think we’ve only lost 30 minutes from our longest day of the year here in San Diego at 14.5 hours a day. I am pleased that they are getting going, and that they are actually female. I know the sex tests are accurate, but I always have a sneaking suspicion, what if they switched my samples or something. I am curious on how big they’ll get too. Last year my plants all doubled in size except for my Northern Lights x Orange Grove, they basically stayed the same, haha. Now that I’ve been smoking this dispensary Goji pretty much every afternoon, I’m very excited about what these Goji F2’s might bring. Now I just have to fight the damn caterpillars until harvest time!
Yeah, for sure, dude! Plenty of summer left. I just live for the Summer Solstice haha, always start getting bummed out that the days are getting shorter after that, even if it’s still sunny at 8pm.
How’s that been smoking? I used to get some pretty good dispensary Goji like seven or eight years ago from a place on Ventura. It didn’t taste like any Goji I ever grew myself, more of a “peat moss/earth”-type flavor, but the high was always very good. That was also before fucking Prop 64 got passed and you could still dig into the jars and smell the weed and shit. No idea what it’s like now…
Haha! For sure. That’s kinda been why I’ve been reluctant to send in samples. That, plus it’s just like,”I can spend a bunch of money getting 30 plants tested now or I can just wait a few more weeks and find out myself…” haha.
I mostly smoke my own stuff now, but when I do buy weed, I get it through a delivery service, that used to be a medical dispensary, but went underground when Prop 64 got passed. Has pretty reasonable prices, and tax doesn’t seem to be a part of the equation. I paid 80 bucks for a half ounce of this Goji:
For the most part they’ve got great weed, and every once in a while I get something extraordinary from them, usually an OG variety. I’ve most enjoyed their Deadhead OG, Tahoe OG, Halo OG, but also got some spectacular Mac 1 from them a few times. It’s funny, they always have great deals on OG’s, and charge the most for Cookie hybrids.
The Goji is excellent smoke. First off it is crazy smooth, especially for how potent it is. I prefer smoking it in moderation, as it provides uplifting, mood boosting, clear headed effects with some minor body relaxation, whereas if I smoke a more significant amount it just gets me so high that I’m confused and useless. Flavor wise it has a real sweetness to it, with a light pine after taste. Somebody picked a good keeper!
Yeah, big surprise there. Who coulda seen that coming? Haha. Eighty bucks for a half is good, though. One of the last times I went to a dispensary, a few years ago, a friend of mine kept going,”The MAC! The MAC! You have to try the MAC!” so we actually went to Cap’s dispensary downtown. Even with my “first-time customer” discount, two eighths cost me like 90 bucks. Fucking ridiculous…
Yeah, that Goji I used to get was also very smooth and pretty strong, too. And tasty, as well, as long as you’re cool with a mouth full of peat moss haha. I’m fine with it. It was obviously well-grown.
Anyway, yeah, I was just wondering.
Tent is coming along nicely. I’m going to transplant to 5 gallon pots this weekend, and then flip two weeks later. Sherbert x Wedding Cake wants to take over the tent! The Sun Ra is stinking up the joint. Every time I open the tent a deep musky weed smell pours out into the room!

Cloning has been proving challenging this go around. I had some light seed starter mix I used to start all my current plants, and thought that would be a good medium for the clones. I think it has too much peat in it, so it’s holding in a lot of water. I ended up over spritzing my first Sherbert x Wedding Cake clone and having it get molded out. Have two left, a Sun Ra which looks promising, and another Sherbert x Wedding Cake that looks like it’s on it’s way out. Been 9 days since taking the cuttings. Next round I’ll go back to my compost as I’ve had better success with that, or maybe try some kind of starter plug.

Everyone outside has transitioned to flowering. Gotten some really nice stretch since my last update. Plants are drinking so much. It’s challenging keeping them from getting parched in their 7 gallon pots. Been having to bottom water them in a large tote to keep them happy.

Looking extremely healthy and vigorous!
Doing it right!
Interested to see what you find with all this as well as your tent setup, Have to assume at least something there will be worthwhile. The F2s with vintage BB sound really interesting for sure and you already know how I feel about the gassy SunRa phenos. It might be worth noting that at least one of my SunRa phenos desperately needed support by mid-late flower. Very healthy plants as always!
Thank you! It makes me happy when they are in good health. Appreciate the compliment!
I’m sure I’ll enjoy what I find! It’s kinda funny, with all the thought I put into picking out what seeds I want to grow, there are very few plants I’ve grown where I’ve been unhappy with the final product, so I’m pretty confident I’ll be a happy camper! The Goji F2’s are doing great man, and all a little different, so hopefully I get a nice spectrum of effects! The Sun Ra’s surprised me a little bit in how squat they’ve stayed, especially the indoor one, but maybe that has something to do with being grown under an LED. It’s the only plant in my tent I’ve had to put on something to keep an even canopy. I was able to get my indoor Sun Ra clone to root, so I’m going to try and reverse and it see if I can make some S1’s. At this point with my seed making I’m really just learning the process ,and randomly chucking, rather than trying to go through all the effort of picking winners before I really learn the basics. I appreciate you sharing both of these strains with me!
Checked in on the worms and they are looking pretty fat and happy! Been living on melon rind and weed leaf smoothies this summer. I swear they like melon way more than they like avocado.
Healthy looking worm bin! Mine seem love the fruit and paper… those are usually the first things to go. For some reason they don’t gravitate toward the cannabis leaves, even though I grind them all up into a smoothie. I’ve got just about enough castings for my next organic run, so I’m pretty stoked about that… trash into treasure!
Thanks @iamyou_youareme ! Interesting our worms have different taste! Mine definitely don’t go nuts for pure weed leaf smoothie, but they don’t turn their nose up at them either! Do you use a shredder for your paper? I’ve been thinking that I should try and pick up something that can shred cardboard as cardboard has been the best bedding form my bin so far, and then I can try and use more junk mail in there too. Trash into treasure, I’m going to steal that!
Yeah, I’ll run white paper junk mail thru the paper shredder and throw that in there and dump liquified cannabis leaves, fruit, old veggies, on top of the shredded paper and they usually make quick work of it all. I just usually notice the bits of cannabis leaves are the last to go . I’ve got the stacking, upward migration type worm bin, I’ve almost got the bottom bin full now, so hopefully, I can add a second bin above that one and they’ll all move up to the new food. That’s the plan anyways…
looks great man

I don’t always write this part of the review, but she was a little bit of an ugly duckling at harvest, who I feel really came into her own through cure. Really nice purple nuggets. I really like the contrast of the purple and the orange hairs. Classic GDP!
Smell and taste
Very loud terps on this pheno. The smell is very pungent. Floral and spicy. When it was freshly harvested it was kind of gross and overwhelming, but the cure has really done wonders giving it strong floral initial flavor with a bright sweet grapefruit finish. Really tasty stuff that lingers on the tongue for a while after smoking
Potency and effects
Pretty mellow, medium potency. Good for joints and large volcano bowls. I would call this a daytime indica in terms of effect. Very mood boosting and warming, almost reminiscent of something that I’ve found in Bodhi strains. Relaxing but not tiring stuff. Very warm blanket like body high with the feeling of getting a scalp massage while giving me a goofy smile. I appreciate that is has a clean comedown, and doesn’t leave me feeling groggy afterwards.
Overall:
This pheno of Mel Franks GDP is a winner! I wanted to write this review first because it was my favorite between the Dark Heart Ken’s GDP clone, and the other dark purple pheno I got from Mel. I really like that I can get away smoking this during the day with the classic old school indica effects, and not be left tired and out of it when I come down. The terps are fantastic, and the high is pure pleasure. Not a knockout by any means, but with it’s mood boosting and warming qualities, I sure am glad that I made some seeds with this pheno. Anyone who has gotten GDP from me has gotten seeds from this plant as I had found it the most promising. I think anyone who wants to find somethings similar to GDP from the past should take a look at Mel Frank’s offering.
very nice man
Got a nice amount of stretch in the past week, especially in the Goji F2’s. Think they are a week ahead in terms of flowering than the Sherbert, Blueberry, and Sun Ra.

Looking great! Are you planning on staking any of those (looking at you, Gojis haha)? Especially because some of those are already stretching so much, might be something to consider.
Anyway, yeah, looking beautiful. I soooooo fucking wish I could grow outdoors….
@Greasy Your outdoor grow makes me what to build a privacy fence! Beautiful!
