Greasy's Journal

Thank you @minitiger ! Yeah, I had been planning on staking, just hadn’t gotten around to it. It’s time though with that all that stretch. I figure I’ll run some garden wire around the stakes and make an impromptu scrog net.

This plant already had a flopped arm with tiny buds!

All staked up!

Thank you @CrunchBerries ! It really is a pleasure growing outside. Gets a bit stressful towards harvest time with fear of mold and theft, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised growing plants year round in my front yard three years in a row I haven’t had any major issues. It sure helps I’ve got an awesome landlord, who refers to my plants as my medicine.

Agreed, everything looks very healthy but that SunRa coloration looks so vibrant.

Totally, she is by no means the biggest or most vigorous grower of the team, but she might be the happiest! Now the fun really begins. I can’t wait to see how these plants turn out!!!

Edit, had to throw up one more pic of them loving life in the afternoon sun. Sun Ra front and center praying hard!

Tent is getting pretty full. I have let it go in veg a bit longer than I had wanted so that my outdoor plants would finish before the indoor, and I could have some staggered harvesting. Humidity also seems to drop off a lot through October, so now looking at a Halloween harvest with a 70 day flowering window. Everyone is now in 5 gallon fabric pots, and have been top dressed a few days ago with fresh worm castings, malted barley, and some craft blend. Seeing some weird deficiency/leaf discoloration showing up in the Sun Ra and Sherbert x Wedding Cake, hoping the top dress will fix it. I had a fan blowing heavily on both of them, so I’m wondering if that may be the issue. Even with the discoloration, the Sherbert x Wedding Cake is trying to take over the tent!

I was able to root my indoor Sun Ra clone, and will be spraying it down with Elite x Elite reversal spray to see if I can make some S1’s. I’m interested in trying to explore making fem seeds, not necessarily S1’s, but with the timing, might be my best bet. Trying to work on my cloning game, so took some cuttings from my outdoor Sun Ra and Sherbert x Wedding Cake as well, and might try and pollinate those if I can get them rooted.

Could be an intense fan for sure, had that happen once. How recent was the transplant? That looks like my leaves after I transplant into too-wet soil. Always works itself out once the pots dry up.

I transplanted them nine days ago. I do remember the compost that I transplanted them into being particularly moist, and then I did my typical big water after transplant, so maybe they were just too wet for a while? I was surprised my compost bin had so much moisture in it this time of year.

Its possible - a week and change is usually how long before they start drying out after transplant for me. Since theyre fabric pots u can see how wet they are under neath - if they leave a lot of moisture on the ground or a little when you move them.

It’s been interesting me a lot lately as well, I’m going to have to do a lot of reading on the subject as a novice myself. That ElitexElite stuff looks expensive, is it just STS or is it different somehow? SunRa S1s & fem hybrids sound cool for sure!

They were definitely dried out yesterday when I watered them, so hopefully we’ve rounded the corner, but come to think of it, in the watering prior I remember their pots already being particularly heavy. The past few days the tent has been around 85 during lights on, so they’ve been drinking faster.

I think it’s a little different than STS, as you only need to spray it once or twice. I got my Mothers Milk f2 that you gave me some advice on to reverse with two sprays this last round. Admittedly, it is an expensive product, and I did an impulse buy because CSI posted that’s what he uses, whereas I think there are definitely more affordable options that work just as well out there. I think I got a bottle on sale for $50, but it looks like it’s now $70. Sure wish Sebring was still doing his STS kits, should have jumped on those when I had the chance.

Sun Ra S1’s sound fun! That’s cool you’re experimenting with reversals. I have that on my to-do but it becomes a game of scheduling and keeping my grow space efficient. It’s a bit difficult to do in a small space! Anyway, should be cool to see how your experience goes with it.

It is tricky in a small space. Timing seems to be the most challenging part. I think ideally I would have more than one clone to reverse, as the reversal may not take. We will see how it goes!

@ramblinrose I put your Goji F1 pollen to good use yesterday. Dusted a branch on all my outdoor plants. Got a cool photo of the purple stemmed Goji with pollen on it.

So that would be like a gogi ix seeds hitting a f2 with a f1 right? Those are looking so damn good excited to pop my gogi ogs doing them and gogi og x ssdd after my old soul run your indoor is looking great too

I think that is correct. Only way I actually knew that though is because @syzygy told me. I have no idea how an ix would be in comparison to any other f gens though. Even though there is a ton of Goji going around now, I figured making some seeds was wise, so that if I find a pheno I really like I’ll be more likely to find it again.

I assume it’s correct but don’t know for sure. I think @HolyAngel just made a post distinguishing IX/BX in the Bodhi thread, maybe he could chime in. Definitely wouldn’t be a back-cross given it’s a different male than what was used to make these F2s. It sounds like a good idea regardless to me. SunRA x Goji and BB Muffin x Vintage BB F2 x Goji both sound really good too, if not more interesting!

Yeah a backcross generally requires one of the original parents. A backcross is specifically made to isolate one of the parents genes in a line.

If the parental line was a true ibl, all siblings virtually identical, you could likely still call it a backcross, but not otherwise. Especially not with a sibling from an F1 crossing. I’d definitely say it’s an inline cross instead :+1:
