I don’t have deer as I’m in the city. It may be the humidity or not enough cold hours as I’m in Southern California. Gonna look up the intermittent mist sand bed as soon as I get a chance. Thanks for the tip!

I blame it on great seeds! It’s the biggest girl out there. Can’t wait to see and smell the bud on her!

@Budafly and @Herbie The pink ones may well be 4 o’clocks. The other pink one, the wizard of oz is a dahlia. I have some small mums in containers forming flowers now. Mums are a fall flower and are also in the carnation and dianthus family. Just an fyi tidbit lol Oh yeah, the yellow and black one is a Gazania. I started that from seed. 3 plants in there. So far a few Pink and white striped and the Yellow and black ones. I dig them. They use them as a groundcover here or erosion cover a lot, kinda like iceplant, but I thought they look cool in a pot too!

@JohnnyPotseed and @SamwellBB Hell yes! You guys can call me young lady anytime you want!! I love your wife already Johnny! Flowers are my passion! I was really lazy this year and bought a lot of my annuals as starters. I usually grow a lot more from seed. Oh and Dad still calls me kid (I love that). He’s your age Johnny about 21 years older than me. You actually have 2 years on him.

@Nagel420 The full pic of the cannabis tent is at Post 569 if you scroll back. It started as just the trellises last year, then Dad added on to them to create the bug enclosure. It’s a 2 in 1 lol

@oleskool830 Well, only a few got in here and there. A couple mosquitos and a wasp, but there are some moths in there and found a few caterpillars. I thought they got in, but Dad made a good point as the moths were all babies, so I think they were already there as eggs when the net went up and hatched in there. Makes sense as the pillars will hide on the ground in the daytime too. I am actually gonna go do a BT spray this evening, the plants and the ground in there. Just waiting for the sun to go down a bit more. It’s almost below the garage, maybe 20 more mins.

Dad chopped down this volunteer palm tree that was in front of my water heater cabinet, A real pain in my ass. Admittedly, I should have dug it out or chopped it up last year. So, Dad chopped it down and chopped it up for me. Tomorrow is trash day, so I was getting all the cans ready to drag out to the street. So I start putting pieces in the green can, but the leaves have these spikes all the way down the sides of the stem (think it was a date palm) and I’m trying to be really careful thinking I’m not wearing gloves. Sure enough, 2 seconds later one of the damn leaves cuts open 2 of my fingers. Yep, I’m a dumb ass, finally went and got my heavy duty leather gloves, but I’m paying for it now. It hurts and it got me good. Oh while I’m thinking about it… @oleskool830 what’s the death injection you like to give your males and would it work to kill this tree stump and roots? It is in too weird of a spot to dig it up.

Did a thorough BT spray on all the plants and the ground inside the net. Was really happy that I went pruning crazy again today and had already removed everything aside from the last 3 or 4 nodes of growth on every branch. They are really naked now, so getting every leaf sprayed was pretty easy, although it still took an hour and a half. There was a caterpillar on the Orange Goji and it was very satisfying to spray it and watch it curl up and fall off although BT does not kill instantly, it won’t be eating again anytime soon while it slowly starves to death. I feel like a serial killer right now reveling in my work. lol Screw those pillars!

So I’m a math person, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to set my hose end sprayer for this particular soil drench.

It’s 33 ounces per 15 gallons of water… So 2 ounces per gallon? I can’t get micro on the hose end sprayer. I think it’s only teaspoons, Tablespoons or ounces as settings…

2 oz per gallon is close enough. Its actually 2.2 but unless you can do something like 2 oz plus a teaspoon just set it to 2 oz and run with it.

Did a soil drench. Some proprietary formula from my soil lab of some sort of micronutrients. Found a damn brown recluse spider inside the net, hanging out with the Garlic Haze. At least I’m pretty sure it is. They have striped legs and a violin shape on their backs right? Was too afraid to kill it as I had shorts, tank top and flip flops on, so it’s still out there. I’m gonna need to watch it near the plants. I already have a black widow problem, now these? Lame. Already I have a pest control company come that uses some sort of chemical from chrysanthemum, but none of the organic and plant based pesticides like pyrethium etc… kill spiders. Anybody have any other suggestions that won’t poison me or my pets?

hmmmm?? be nice and don’t piss him off?? It might be a wolf spider. I didn’t think BR were outside spiders. I always heard of them inside closets and clothes. Lots of them make me think of BR. I grew up around them but never knew anyone who had problems with them. I’ve read of the rare time when someone does and it can be horrible looking.

I bet it’s some sort of garden spider. I hope so.

Peppermint oil? I remember using it as a kid in the basement, thought of it tonight after seeing some new 8 legged members of the community appear…

Most spiders in the garden are friendly predators. Really good ones. I like spiders now, for the first time really. They’re worth learning about.
