Thanks for the new pic. Lots of purple sacs - all ready to burst!
As a reminder, his father didn’t show any color - other than green! And he was grown in the cold winter months in quite low temps (reaching 50’s with the lights out). There is little doubt that the color of yours comes from his mother (which is good!). Also, the sweet aroma you describe is definitely a trait that comes from his father. There is nothing sweet about the smell that his mother gives off!
Here’s the Cookieland father as he was producing pollen. Notice the lack of colors…
Well hopefully the pollen from this guy will get you closer to your breeding goal. I might pollinate a branch or two on my GG4 and C99 I have going with a bit of his pollen.
It’s been crazy hot in the garage. Boxes are covered in a bubble of tarps and the ac unit is in there also. Keeping doors open during day to help pull in the cold air. We are 102 outside, 82 in the bubble. Here are the girls.
Lookin’ good, @Shaggy450r - thanks for the update. It’s hard battling such oppressive heat, but it sounds like you still have it under control. I know I hit higher temps in my grow room every summer, for sure.
This round of tester beans is closed, but be sure to keep an out for the back cross. I’ll grab some more testers when they’re ready - all you’ll have to do is volunteer within a few days of me opening it up.
Aye @Purple-N-Hairy - just a little note to let you know we’re still alive up here! I’ve got a couple Cookieland out in the field and this was one of those slooooow germinators that is just now starting to take off so I’m planning on getting her out in the field by the 4th… everything is going well… I would say that the three I have cooking have been slow to hit their growth spurt but I feel like that’s coming on now. Nothing remarkable to report… I’ll keep ya posted…
Thanks again for sending these out for testing!
@Purple-N-Hairy sorry for the long delay on an update. Life gets busy to say the least. So I ended up with 3 babies that lived. I’m proud to say I’m the father of a beautiful girl. The other 2 are still small and haven’t shown sex. I’m hoping for a male amount the mix and with your blessings I’ll make some f2s as well as cross out to some Azad kashmir and sfv I have going. Maybe some blueberry as well. Anyways. Here’s the pics I promised a many moons ago
Congrat’s on the little girl you’ve got there! As well, good luck on getting a male out of the other 2.
Yes, by all means - make all the F2’s and crosses you’d like. If you have enough pollen left after your projects are complete and are willing to share some with me, I’m trying to collect the pollen from as many different males that the testers send back to me. I plan to back cross with the mother, as you might guess. And I’m very confident that we’ll make an even better Cookieland with the back crosses. Of course, every tester that got beans in the first round will be given first dibs on testing the bx’s.
That’s very generous of you! However, I should have pollen coming in from several testers, so please take care of yourself first. Seriously. Either way, you’ll still be on the short list for testers of the bx when it’s available (and if you want it).
Have two nice females from this run. I can give you cuts or root some clones if you’d like. Just transplanted from solo cups to dwc and they’re starting to take off
