Yep after it’s turned into tiny bits you put it back into the freezer to dry. Bubble hash made from fresh frozen buds and then freeze dried is the basis for making live rosin. One leads to the other. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone call it “live bubble hash”. I always just call it “live extract” when I talk about the bubble, and rosin.
“Hey this bubble hash is live extract!”
That just means the volatile organic compounds have been preserved as much as possible.
ya man… it’s pretty incredible.
I am refining my technique and things are going much better hehe
real cold here today so I took advantage of the cold working conditions.
Here is the first wash from about 2 ounces of cured frozen shishkaberry flower
This the patty I gently formed from the 73u bag , working it on the 25u working pad with some paper towel under it.
Thanx for teaching an old dog some new tricks fellas. I’m no newbie to making hash, been at it for years but this i certainly next level. Now I need to do next steps.
You guys are gonna make me get a rosin press next aren;t ya?
What I do is use a bucket inside my sink, take one out of the stack, rinse it all into a pile with the sink sprayer, pull it up, then use a frisbee inside to stretch the screen out on. Makes it very easy for me to collect it.
heh heh the 73 bag is the garbage run.
In this image here you can see the different trichomes on a bud. Only the capitate stalked trichome lands in the 90 bag, the sessiles in the 73, and all the other garbage in the 25. I’m not sure why people are still using the 73 bag, it’s the garbage run.
In case anyone hasn’t seen, this is what it looks like:
radical difference eh? So I genetically select for plants that deposit in the 90 bag, which I now know means it has far more capitate trichomes than sessile, which is what a guy really wants in quality hash.
Thanks for the lesson, Joe.
You wanna fight?
Which is why my above comment is purely fucking with you
Or just not the cream of the crop?
Because it still makes great hash. And people are cheap and probably bought a 73 and not a 90 and don’t want to buy again. This totally isn’t from my experience…
My set didn’t have a 90!
Lol, i got a new set i no small part because of a 90 bag. It really surpises me that these are so close in size, but the dif in quality is undeniable.
But if 90 is A+ quality then 73 is A-
Okay… so @JoeCrowe here’s a breakdown question of what i’m doing:
220: Used to collect the shit from my washer. I usually rewash this stuff with the mass and then compost.
dumps directly into:
73: 1st collection
dumps directly into:
25: 2nd collection
At this time I’m going through seed runs and old flower so I’ve just been blending the two and then temple balls or hash sand.
The only other bag i have is a 120.
Until i’m running fresh-frozen, which will be in the fall from outdoors; i’m not looking into keeping things separate until i’m convinced otherwise lol.
Yah fresh buds are the best, that’s for sure! I’ll break it down, why someone should keep the grades separate. I mean, besides the fact it was a recommendation from that dude Noel. If I took the 73 and mixed it into the 90, that would be like tossing shit on the mona lisa.
lol! I used to just run a set that was 220 and 73, so I know it’s a downgrade from running the 220 and 90 combo. That meant I was cranking out a mixture of capitate and sessile trichome hash. Also how I lost the competition right? Once Noel had thoroughly defeated me, I learned there was some next level shit. The 120 will get quite a number of high quality trichomes. Definitely no sessiles!
Ril Diesel #1. 220 73 & 25. I didn’t have a damn 90. So from here I break it down tomorrow in a thin layer then I just leave it in the freezer uncovered boss? @JoeCrowe
Looks really good! I make it into either tiny bits or a thin layer, either works! Just don’t press on it to make it thin, or that will make the freeze drying fail.
Is that shelf dried from aged weed?
Boss please give me some tips on the step where you break it down after the first small period in the freezer? I always loose so much at this point due to shitty methods.
I usually break it up with a titanium blade into smaller bits. In the past I’ve just smashed the pieces after they are frozen. Some people take a cheese grater and shred it up in the freezer. If you take it out it’ll start to melt.
I picked up a microplaner aka zester and that was a pain in the ass honestly. you have about 15 seconds before the hash melts to your fingers.
I had better luck with a fine colander and a spoon. Put them in the freezer for at least a half hour prior to running the hash through it. I did it all while standing in front of the freezer with the door open, so essentially did it inside the freezer. Got a nice fine powder and it comes off the colander pretty easy.
I tried with a knife but when its frozen i was just flicking hash everywhere.
