No picture but I’ll give a long-winded explanation of what & how & why with past experiences…
This was 6 different immature (wk 6/7) plants cut because of mold. 1/2 Cindy99 crosses & a Space Queen x Kush, and an Orange Sunshine F2.
Cut buds & some left on branches, direct to freezer in ziploc bags. Waited a few weeks for my washer & bags to arrive in Hawaii.
I mix 50/50 ice to water until it’s nearly all melted(no thermometer avail)
Put buds directly into hand-me-down 3 gal Bubble Magic washer, followed by roughly 1/2 gallon of ice, then water. Wait for most of ice to melt. (Frenchy Cannoli, RIP)
Washed 15 minutes, drained/transferred water to bucket with ice (“holding cell”)
Repeat 5x for a total of 6 washes.
Stacked 45, 73, 90, 125, 160, 220 bags onto bottomless 5 gallon bucket over a milk-crate.
Put ice in 220/top bag & pour & wait & pour & wait…
Since this is small & moldy run, I combined all the resin grades, lightly wringed out in a blotter, then freezer overnight, then air-dry. I only used multiple bags because the 45 will clog badly with larger material & it will take eons to finish.
Result, a light gray to white, rock hard hash. Crumbly but only barely. Won’t stick to itself, burns harsh. Then I said fuck it & tossed it in my coffee(weed) grinder & obliterated it into dust.
…
When I first started making bubble about 5 yrs ago, I hand stirred in a 5 gal bucket with a modified spatula. I would follow Frenchy’s recommendation of doing a short 1 minute wash, then 3, then 5, & so on. I slowly learned by doing that the process needs to be gentle & eventually yielded some pink wax that tasted like boysenberry pancake syrup. It was a tiny amount & I immediately thought “Oh Shit! I have to get a witness to this!” (didn’t happen ).
After at least 50 washes I noticed scoring/wear on the buckets from the ice & stirring. This suggested plastic being smoked. Didn’t like that & was thinking about a stainless steel bucket but a friend gave me his old washing machine. It does seem to be too violent or fast of a spin & I’ve wondered if I could modify the speed with a different pulley ratio on the bottom. (It has a large & small pulley with drivebelt). My electrical knowledge isn’t enough to rewire the motor.
So all in all, I shouldn’t be too surprised with it & am afraid I’ll need to go back to hand stirring, which is painful, literally. Have gotten wrist & elbow strain from it. (Now pipe down @Esrgood4u ! )
