Hash Making Revisited

Looks pretty good! Freeze dry that shit and see what happens heh heh. It’ll enhance the melt and flavor!

yah, I finally finished dabbing all the freeze dried bag dust, and now the real work begins.

What are we even looking at up there? Is that drying out somewhere?? :arrow_heading_up:

OK this is the batch I just made from the greenhouse meat breath hybrid. It’s 90 micron, and chilling in the freezer!
Now… So here’s the warning about estimating yields. Estimating a small batch doesn’t make sense. I’ll toss all data that is a batch less than 700 grams. That should set a good minimum, so there is some kind of variation. Small runs give you no data.

@JoeCrowe Got a question for you. Just made a batch of bubble hash. When I try to cut it into smaller pieces to freeze dry, it just sticks to the razor blade. Any suggestions?

You can pick it apart, or let it freeze a bit and then cut it. Or get a blade and smear it really thin on parchment. push it through a screen. Or something else you can think of. It just has to meet the requirement of being really thin or tiny pieces.

Attempt #2 came out better with more ice. Washed Northern Lights #2 fresh frozen about 250g wet. Very happy with the yield on that one. Super sticky this time so I’ll need to let them freeze for a bit before I can really break it up. 72 felt like taffy

@JoeCrowe do you have a broad estimate as to how much weight is lost throughout freeze drying? I spun those bags like my life depended on it so they’re about as dry as you can get out of the bag.

Water is really heavy, you’ll know it’s dry when it turns white. After you freeze it, you’ll notice the edges are white with darker areas. The dark areas are water. Depending on how much water was in it… a couple of grams?

That actually doesn’t work in the freezer.

I wanted to try estimating yield. Not worried about drying time

For that it’ll require experience with what it weighs in the end. After a bit you should be able to recognize approximate weight when you chunk it out of the bag.

Gotcha. Didn’t know if you had a general dry down percentage. Guess I’ll keep track myself!

heh heh yah, definitely something I could figure out. If I remember, I can ponder that as well, when I make a nice batch of hash coming up here.

Oh it’s drying out. I know I say this every time, but this is the whitest batch yet

Best bubble I ever made was with la confidential in Tahoe when it was snowing outside. I prefer dry sift now myself I feel like it retains more flavor and is ready to smoke immediately.
Anybody have good experience with dry sift or the dry ice bags ?

Nasty! No offense, but that’s not going to win the competition. When I saw you touch it with your finger, I almost puked. That’s some true horror right there!

Lol good thing I’m not trying to win competitions and am only making personal smoke. Smokes better then any bubble I’ve seen made , I haven’t got into pressing rosin yet but it’s looks like something I may play with some day.
