Seriously this sight, the people and the VIBE are infectious in such a good way for the MMJ community and the push back on big tobacco/pharma feminizing all strains and GMOing them to self destruct if reversed. I try to do my little part by spreading free seeds and strains all over the world and chucking some pollen of the ones I like best. I came her 9 months ago and grew my first plant from seed (clones for 5 years) since second grade and fell in love with strain hunting. I have only purchased one package of seeds and one small European collection and have managed to trade up to at least 150 strains including mine. There 2 different strains Maui Waui and Maui Wowie they are not both the same I think the original was Maui Waui and the Maui Wowie was made later I think. not 100% for sure tho anyone else know about this?

Atleast you are educating yourself on the island way here btw my wahine (woman) said Maui Wowie is the original and Maui Waui is the new age one.
all I know about hawaii cannabis came from a friend of mine. he said that while on vacation there in the mid 2000’s, he scored some local that had an almost florescent green tint to some of the leaves, so he said! I’ve been trying to find what I can bout this type since he brought it up about 3 years ago. He said it was simply great, he smoked on it most of the time he was there, but does not know the name. If anyone reading this thread might know something about this strains identity, please drop a note!

I was gifted with a clone only strain called Hawaiian Purple Kush…I got it from a buddy ICMAG and it was potent.
Do you have any pics of the Island Kona Gold growing? I have posted pics of my strain was just looking for a comparison…

i grew hawaii maui waui from nirvana but i think i dont have pics of it , i got local one called Baphomet other unclez kilazz local that i know are local stuff , first bapho was male and havent pop any of the uncle yet soon i will , the bapho 100 sativa and the uncle should be a 100 percent indica from what i was told
I’d Love to see them , love hunting the oldest versions of strains. Always interested in the Island strains as the best genetics as you say, are only kept by the old and wise. I have acquired a Rastafarian Collective gifted strain To a family member that I’m hoping is Real deal old Jamaican I remember from the early 80’s. I have not gotten a Kona to finish and I’m down to 3 beans to do a seed run. Either way I’ll carry the genetics forward in crosses if I like it. We had the Maui WOwie and Hawaiian back in the day but never Kona by name. I am loving the Maui the last few months it’s juicy fruit gum with a minty wintergreen on the exhale…
so now doing some reading i saw that what they call the kona gold is what is to be the Hawaiian , that is a 100 % sativa
