Holy's Garden (Part 2)

You can’t get some work anymore,

like bodhi retired his 88g13hp male and Monarch is one of those packs that sold out completely right away.

So if I pop my louie 13 x 88g13hp pack i’d rather preserve those genetics further for my own use, rather than risk losing the genetic pool contained in this work. Not only that but f2 opens up the phenotypical range so you’d see more outliers, good or bad. Louie and 88g13hp both have their drawbacks so I’d rather see a more wide range than one pack of beans, to see that louie shine.

Obviously this isnt true for every pack though.

Open pollination spreads good genes, but it also spread bad genes in equal proportion. If I would have something like that, that I hold dearly and wanted to F2 to look into further. I would definitely do a multi selection after an initial grow with cuts taken of all plants. This would tip the scale and eliminate problematic genes from the pool, but still allow for some sort of recombinations to occur.

This get very very obvious if you start using mathematical models to track genes through evolution.

If there isn’t a natural resistans of pruning(nature does this vigorously), the genes get muddied and the bad genes start to seep into every seed. Remember that there is just as much bad genes that are dominant that there is good genes that’s dominant.

Pz :v:t2:

I agree with that and i try and flower out all the ladies and genuinely sift them. But theres tradeoffs i do have to make sometimes.

For something like
Sour apple x (sour apple ibl x fpog)

I culled the males and will sift the ladies because you can get sour apple and fpog work still.

For
Tn hogs breath x alien stardawg

I cannot get these parents, only the fathers ancestors.

Once the females are pollinated I hit the males with florel and let them hit each other and get a lagged seeding from the males. I think this helps in the seed count and adds more diversity or at least that’s how I look at it.

Exactly. I was just typing a similar response and then thought,”Fuck it. I’ve been talking too much already,” and deleted it haha.

There’s really no point at all in making seeds from these crazy polyhybrids, just because nothing will ever be stable and no desirable traits will ever be “locked down.” Better just to take a cut and grow that for as long as you wanna keep it around.

What Holy’s doing (or did, I guess?) with that C5SensiStar makes sense; he’s using a stable “base.” Those are worked lines that should breed relatively true. But when people are making seeds with, like… I dunno haha… Just crazy polyhybrids that contain like eighteen different lines in them… What’s the fucking point? What’s the goal? What’re you working towards?

Yeah I’m not a fan of open pollinations. There are times when it’s good/necessary, but not every fgen. Especially if you already know what’s good in the line. Just creating more work for yourself.

Now if you don’t know anything about the line at all… I’d do what lonely is saying, i’d clone everything, find the best girl(s) first, and then go back and use the closest male(s).

Thing is, i wouldnt say stacking og, chem, and such leads to random results

i95 is a polyhybrid but it makes great work.

If i wanted to grow plants and hold them as cuts only, i wouldnt be using males.

Loompas headband, for exampke, i just shucked some. Amazing terps! That lemon fuel og kush deliciousness. But the plant sucks to grow. People who get it as a cutting suspect it of being sick then they realize its just needy.

Why wouldnt i wanna hybridize that plant to look for better? Especially if i could get hit by a bus tomorrow and then lose the cut.

Also worth noting that i am very poor and live in canada. Getting plants back is a huge headache.

Right. That makes the most sense to me.

I understand. I am, too, most of the time. Sometimes I have a lot of money in the bank; usually I don’t.

The last time I was loaded, I bought just a shit-ton of seeds. Too many, really. If I hadn’t done that, though, I’d definitely be making my own stuff. Still, I’d put some thought into it. I definitely wouldn’t be

That makes zero sense to me. Inbreeding almost always leads to unhealthy plants (and dogs and horses and humans… haha). But, again, I’ve just read about this stuff, never done it, so I don’t really know anything.

I95 is pretty “inbred”

Dirty taxi also

But they are the product of quality plants and quality selection.

As tom hill said, inbreeding intensely can bring the best results!

But youre not wrong. Doubling up on the recessives, so forth… obligatory outcrossing plant. Theres drawbacks. But the point of me doing all this is to verify and learn the pitfalls

it is my understanding that you want to breed for rececive genes dominants one tend to go back to its hemp origines

Its more complicated than that. Recessive traits can be good, or deleterious.

this is an understatement but yes

Also people will preach about the pitfalls but then theyll rave about a bagseed of a bagseed of a bagseed. (Og kush, bubba kush, irene kush, in that order)

So id rather just see what works for myself, even if it seems stupid

talking bout

got a bagseed of deathbubba i kept in clone thats good beats most shit at gov dispo

Would be nice if you could run it side by side with death bubba. Scammer was supposed to send that to my homie, ugh. Thank god i have the khalifa mints he promised my buddy.

yeah id like to see im always curious when i get bagseeds i wonder bout the provenance of pollen and make assumption depending on how seeded is the flowers

I wonder also, thats why i nerd over these plants. Like whats up with sherb.

But in the end like holy minitiger said etc

The plant is the plant you have. If you like it, then you like it! If you dont, then find one you like!

Thats the ultimate goal!

im treating it as a S1 and not a outcross , unless id be inclined to think otherwise but so far im treating her as such. with that sais im on the lookout for any tendencies for nanners to pop up. if i can keep her and not loose her i might try to test her stresse threshold & see if shes worthy of reversal or not

S1s can be pretty unique! I believe tahoe og is a chem 91 s1. Not sure if youve ever ran tahoe @HolyAngel
