Man, it’s been a long time since I experienced that feeling. A long time but it happened more than once in the late 70’s early '80s.

I am still trying to find some comfrey to grow, I emigrated to Canada from the UK 14 years ago. I cycled around Wales with my Dad and brothers back around 1974, that huge fucking hill coming out of Dolgellau nearly killed me, but the road down hill to Tywyn was great.

Mother in law was the origin of GC, she has been growing for 30+ years, and its is one of the stronger strains that survives the outdoors in AZ desert, and still gives her a good yield. A few years ago she had a male that pollinated a few her plants before she was able to pull them and we ended up with hundreds if not 1000’s of free seeds. A local growing friend known for only growing heavy hitting indicas supplied me with the Muffin seeds via a trade and his stuff was pollinated and I ended up with a few hundred seeds, but i do not know what strain pollinated the blueberry muffins, so that is why I say unconfirmed. This will be my first year growing it so we shall see. and Thank you

I did 3 strains last year, Green Crack, Blue dream and Redwood, all from seed. My greenhouse is 10x20 in my backyard. I all outdoor, I set it up with a drip system and thought it was gonna be all easy… lol… all that is gone this year, and I will be only keeping my misters to cool the plants down when temps get over 100. It was an Amazon $200 green house and worked pretty good, more than I expected actually, and will be doing pretty much the same this year, but will be paying way more attention to plants earlier on and doing less plants so it doesn’t overwhelm me. I pretty much live in a housing track with 5 houses facing my backyard and having 12 plants last year that ended up growing over 10ft tall was interesting to try and keep secret… It’s legal here, so not worried about the law, I was more worried about attracting thieves…but it all worked out and I ended up having fun even after losing more than half to bud rot, mites, and heat… but now i consider it a challenge…

Thanks for the welcome @oleskool830. I’ve been doing a lot of reading and yes, I agree that some of the best growers on the plant earth are part of this family. I am feel privileged to be able to join in. I’m planning on starting a grow journal here shortly. I’ll make sure and drop by Shitkicker Shed and burn one here in a little bit and burn one with you.

Just moved out of there 3 years.
I was one of the pioneers from out of that area, since the late 70’s.

Well, I suppose I should stipulate “bud porn”, but the more I thought about it, I said “hey, maybe I’ll leave it like that and the newbies will think we post porn and we could all get a quick laugh”…

…I haven’t smoked yet this morning… I’m all out of whack.

I’m looking for comfrey too, saw this site. https://www.annapolisseeds.com/Russian-Comfrey-12-p/556.htm. 12 cuttings for 20 bucks, and they’re on the east coast which is close to you(I think). They’ll be delivered in May

Excellent, thank you very much for the link they are about 90 minutes down the road to me. Usually go down to the Valley in the summer to the vineyards for a nice meal and glass of wine, so it will be just another 30 minutes drive from there. I could get them to ship as well.

@Sebring passed some out last year. He or somebody should have a piece or two to send out. I got mine in ate so we’ll see how it comes back. One is in the dirt and two are in pots outside.

That stuff may grow all year long on the Washington/Oregon/Cali coast. It should be easy to locate it for shipping.

It pays to read up on it a little before picking a spot to plant it or using a pot. It will spread forever if you let it grow big and then try and remove it by digging it up. It’ll spawn new plants everywhere since its like/or is a Rhizome type plant where even the smallest pieces of the root will sprout into a new plant. peace

Yeah I have heard that I was thinking of growing it in my giant worm bin/compost heap, to keep it under controll.

I think it has a root that goes very deep and any side roots will all be liable to shoot plants up if you try and move it. Normally people put in area that will be okay for it to stay forever like on a property boundary or corner.

Comfrey is also a bio-accumulator so maybe growing next to a compost heap could super charge the plant. People use it to make teas and fertilizer because of the nutrients it accumulates. Sebring is a better source for info than I am atm. Peace.

Hi, Sedin here.
While waiting on my personal med grow license, I thought I would practice with some bag seeds. Cookies & Cream. (an interesting fact I pulled this seed from the last joint I smoked! WTF right? Licence and equipment cost $ it had to come from somewhere and that was my smoke cash. I have been trying to take not smoking in stride and thinking of it as my investment. luckily in a day or two I get mail, a good friend mailed me a free gram of moon rocks and a few joints. A great friend I should say!) So it took 20 or so seeds started and hermi after hermi but I got a female winner. pic is 4 days old I’ve transplanted into a bigger pot since and she has grown great since transplanting and I have female pre-flowers. As you can see I have read up on training and applied the knowledge. I only wish a few more of the plants I started were female. I am running this solo under a 1000watt Convertable HPS and have 2 more 1000wat Convertable HPS standing by.

It’s almost time for me to go gather comfrey leaves again, so I should have some more root cuttings too. I’ve got you added to the list already.

Comfrey does well in compost piles. I like using it there, because you can’t actually smother it, and it sucks up all the compost leachates and moves them back up above the compost pile in the form of new vegetative biomass, closing a nutrient loop.

They can and will grow anywhere a piece of root has broken off, so it’s important to consciously place them, because there will most likely be there for a long time.

Mine used to get on reaĺly well with me Apple trees. Also bees and insects love it. It’s old English name is knitbone due to its healing properties, it’s superb for getting rid of scars and for healing cuts.
I never really made tea with it, I’d thrown some in me horse manure and water bucket but only occasionally.
I found it worked best if you lined pots or holes in garden with the leaves and then planted

I don’t know. Black and gooey sounds a lot like opium. Especially when you say that it wrecked you compared to other cob cured weed.
